+Roland_oso Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 As Markwell suggested with the advanced seek page, I end up with 1747 for Zip code 75044. Dallas Suburb of Garland Tx. Quote

+popokiiti Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 First time I ever tried the Pocket Query thing - obviously doing it wrong as I know for a fact that there are a heck of a lot more than ZERO caches around here! Quote

+EVIL Ninjection Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I live in California and it results in 1000 caches. The farthest of which is 7.9 mi away. Haha, we have so many caches around here! Quote
+FourRiverRatz Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Sixty eight within ten miles of my address. A few of them are mine/ours. Quote
+Douce Us 5 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 674 caches in the Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin area (Just north-west of Milwaukee). I LOVE having so many so close by. Quote

You have so many people around there too. It's too bad that everyone hasn't listed their postal code along with their cache totals or I'd created a heat map of the results that could show where all the hot spots are. Quote

+clumzyfly Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 84 I have found 60 I have not found 13 11 are mine As far as I know, none are LPC. I don't think any I have not found are LPC as I doubt there are any LPs in the area of them. There are several micros though. Most I think are small and regular. 1 is large. It is mine. It is a 7 gallon waterproof dog food container. Quote
AZcachemeister Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 848 caches. I am in the Phoenix, AZ area. I should also point out that I included caches I already found - just to see how many their were. If I exclude caches I found, there are 0 withing 10 miles of my home location. I live (fairly) close to skraeling, so my results are going to be about the same. Quote
+RatPakk Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 There are exactly 9 caches within 10 miles of me. As others with low saturation have stated, caching for us is either a weekend day trip, or picking up a few as we go about regular running. My kids and I found 10 last weekend by backroading on the way to take them home. Today's cache trip should result in about 10 finds and somewhere near 100 miles. Quote

+Nicodemus3 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Only 283 from me in NW Arkansas (of which I probably have found >80% already), but 752 within 25 miles. Not the greatest, but enough to keep me busy for a little while at least. Quote
+Panther&Pine Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 So. What have we learned from this test? That some places are basically infested with caches, and others have lots of room. Or maybe that some places have lots of areas for caches and others have geographic and/or laws limiting cache places. Quote
+Leleboo_05 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 TOTAL- Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 73 caches. OWNED- 4 NOT FOUND- Thanks! +southeastalaska Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 130 within 10 miles. Seems like a decent amount. But, there are no roads beyond that circle so to cache beyond it we have to put the georig on a ferry for a minimum 4.5 hour trip. Quote
+choron Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 74 active caches, west of Toulouse, SW France. I envy people living in saturated areas... Quote
+escondido100 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 within 10 mile radius of captain cook HI : 3 living on the shore makes the radius about 50% in size. on th entire island there are 213 i have found all but about 10 of them. Quote
+2skidivers Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It's all about the numbers. We have been geocaching for 6 years. It used to be fun to find a cache and see what's in it and trade. Or we would look for a cache that would take us on a hike in a new place. Now there is a cache on every corner and most of them are micros. We're leaving the game. Quote
+Out4Sand Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 487 in my area. Guess I better get busy knocking some of those off my list. But I much prefer to find a quality cache than an easy Park and Grab. Quote

I just did a search from my location in Outer SE Portland. 1922 caches within 10 miles of where I am right now... I guess I'm going to be busy for a while then... Z. Quote
+Photographer Jim Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 There are 80 caches within 10 miles. I live in a small town in the Sacramento River Delta. Lots of farm roads, but not many local cachers, so not that many hides. Twenty-five of the nearby caches are mine. Part of the problem around here is also finding places for unique, quality hides. I could probably hide tons if I allowed myself to place a lot of micros at the base of fence posts, but I'd rather not go that route. If I expand the search to 15 miles, the numbers jump to 355, as a few big towns start to come into play. Stretch the perimeter to 20 miles and the number jumps to well over 1000. Quote

+Coldgears Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) I've always thought I had pretty good cache saturation. There's a lot of caches near me. But I believe I may be wrong and it may be pretty bad actually. So I'm doing an experiement. I want everyone to do a pocket query of 10 miles of there home coords and see how many they get. For me there is 642 from my home coords... What about yours? I live right near philly so that may give me the "city advantage!" To allow the other thread about hiding a cache with high saturation, I want to allow that to be about... Well hiding a cache with high saturation. So i'm bringing back this this thread in hopes that the test's will be performed here. Oh, and it increased from 642 to Total Records: 761 within 10 miles I now have about 120 more caches then I did less then a year ago... Keep it up cache hiders! Edited June 2, 2011 by Coldgears Quote
+Vater_Araignee Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 232, but I mapped out every point at 10 miles by road and putting the perimeter into GSAK I come up with 61. Lots of lakes, rivers, swamps and bogs cause twisting roads. Quote
+Sins DS Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 128 within 10 miles. That's misleading, since it's 10 air miles. There's a bunch that are about 100 driving miles away, on the far side of the bay. We've found about half. Quote
+terratin Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Copenhagen, Denmark. I just checked and a PQ with 4.55 miles comes up with 987 caches; 4.6 miles is over 1000. Within a 10 miles radius there's 2040 caches. Which does explain why it's so hard to find a spot to hide a new cache here...time to move! Also interesting, the smallest distance (1km) in the PQ still yields 39 caches... Mr. Terratin Quote
+Fianccetto Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 100 caches. Large town/small city in England with rural surroundings. I thought it would be a lot more than that. Quote

+SurveyContactTeam Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 504 caches. This is in the east end of Toronto (also known as Scarborough). Considering that I live quite close to Lake Ontario, that's more than I would have expected! I'm still new, so I've got a long way to go before I run out of nearby caches to find. Quote
+Towcester Pirates Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 584 caches this increases to 1262 in 15mile radius! this is based from my home locations in Stone, Staffordshire, UK Quote
+va griz Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I skew my home coords to be more centered in what I consider my travel zone and there are 202 within a 10 mile radius of that. Where I live is about 18 miles from that center and there are less than 100 caches within 10 miles of that. Quote
+fuzziebear3 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Instead of a PQ, do the advance seek page, plug in your address and choose the limit of 10 miles. 1075 in 10 miles. Quote
