  1. Hah! I was wondering why there were so few caches in Fairview when Halifax is otherwise totally saturated, and now I understand why. It totally fits that pattern.
  2. We just dropped our first one! Little Al's headed for adventure, we hope! Our daughter's very proud; she picked the kind of bug we were going to send.
  3. Collect a bunch, and make a textured mural. Half of an electrical pencil sharpener, minus the electrical part/battery compartment.
  4. There's one cache we did where I wish I'd taken the time to decode "Not in the thorns" before I went barreling on through the blackberry hedge... Serves me right.
  5. I'm Canadian - I totally get that. I just ran a pocket query for a route from London to Bristol, and it very obligingly pulled up 433 caches along the route. I think you're good!
  6. That's fantastic information; thank you! We're still learning our way around the site, so we definitely appreciate the time the old hands take to answer questions. We've since taken a photo of the TB on travels and updated the logs with a couple of visits, and we got a very nice thank-you note from the original hider. My only problem now is that the TB flags don't seem to 'take' when I use them from my Blackberry browser. I can log a find on the website while in the field with no problems, but the little drop menus don't seem to 'take' when I select them, and it won't give me the option to edit in any TB information when I get home. I've had to add notes to caches to officially 'visit' or 'drop' anything. Is that a feature to force you to log from a computer, or am I missing something?
  7. For sizes Small, Regular and Large: Thanks! Your pocket query has been modified and currently results in 952 caches For Micro, Unknown and Other: Thanks! Your pocket query has been modified and currently results in 496 caches.
  8. N00b question - what is the etiquette for 'dipping' a TB or geocoin? We found one of each earlier this week and intend to drop them off tonight. We've been to a couple of micro caches in the mean time that weren't suitable to put anything into. Is 'dipping' sort of a fake placement? Were we supposed to 'dip' the TB and geocoin in the caches we've been to while they've been in my bag? We know which cache we're taking them to tonight - should we have 'dipped' the travelers in caches between the find spot and the dropoff, so they looked like they were getting closer to their destination during the week, or are you supposed to 'dip' them further away so that they get more mileage? tl;dr: What's the purpose of 'dipping'? Adding miles, showing that a traveling item's "not dead yet" or...?
  9. Hi! First post! We were stuck behind a car in traffic a couple of weeks ago that had a Geocaching license plate holder, and we started talking about it. We'd both heard about the sport before and filed it away as a 'something that might be cool to try,' and then never really thought about it again. But sitting there in the jam, staring at the logo right in front of us, I ended up hauling out the Blackberry, searching for some kind of caching app, and now we're really starting to get into it! So thank you, mystery Nova Scotia driver with the license plate holder! You've given my family a new obsession!
