  1. We try and leave decent swag. If it is a kids friendly" I do leave McToys or something for kids. But usually we try and come up with clever or useful items. We spend about $20-$30 a month at the dollar store and get tools, etc
  2. I actually leave the DNF's. We went to a cache 3 times and DNF'd the first and wrote a note the third time. Finally the owner went out to look and found the cache was muggled.
  3. Actually we didn't keep a secret. Although it was funny I had not told anyone at work. About 3 months into caching I had a coworker take me out for coffee to talk. They wanted to know if everything was ok at home. I was showing up at work with scratches, bruises etc and never explained them. LOL LOL (I am a klutz and always find that tree root covered in leaves etc) Once I fell and hurt myself so bad walking in a creek to get a cache hidden in a creek that I could not wear pants because my leg was so damaged LOL. I finally came out of the Geocaching closet and explained it. Now they know I had a good weekend if I come in with a new geostripe.
  4. We tried. We even invited them along with us and they got "w"itchy. Oh well Hubby will always come first (until we have kids)
  5. Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 104 caches. Around Olean NY

  7. It is funny. We have seen people pulled over and looking at a guardrail on a busy road etc, and always thought it was strange. Now we are the strange ppl on a busy road looking at t a guardrail!
  8. We met a couple people last September and we became fast 'friends'. We would hang out 1 weekend a month or so and talk online. My husband (Turtle) and I have been married for 9.5 years and we have had our ups and downs. Well We found Geocaching in May and we quickly became addicted. (300 caches in 4 months) not too much but not to bad either. It has helped us by having a hobby together, long walks where we talk and we have reinforced our relationship. We both have also lost weight and tend to eat healthier since we take trail mix as a snack and drink water more and more. Well this couple we met in September came out to us and said that we are selfish for Geocaching together instead of going to their house every day. The said If we have time to Geocache we should use that "free time" to go over to their place more. Since we started Geocaching we had not slowed our weekend together or online conversations. We were shocked then insulted. We also learned they were not good friends in the first place. Sorry we were floored. Wanted to share with others and see if we are wrong in feeling insulted. Dangit. We love Geocaching! Opinions are welcome
  9. I appreciate all the feedback. Turtle and I have talked and said we might make it a 4 step and there is a way in the video game to shorten it. Thank you!
  10. How many steps are too many in a multi? Turtle and I came up with a multi idea that A. brings people around our small town and B. has a video game theme. To fit in the theme of the game, there would be 8 steps and a final. Is that too many? Would people get bored? Opinions please.
  11. At the last ASP Geobash there were babies as young as 3 weeks old. Train them how to Geocache young and that will help with other skills later in life! JMO Squirrel
  12. We LOVE night caching. There are not a ton set p as night caches around here and once we did have something growl at us (We signed log and took off) When Olean put our the EMGT we were there at 1 in the morning Sadly we watched the FTF pull away and we were STF.
  13. I feel bad we are holding on to a couple of TB's we have gotten int he past week or two, but they all want to travel and we are driving from NY to Georgia and figure we will spread them out down there. But they WILL be moved!
  14. My husband and I had separate accounts, then decided to combine and make one account. (save $$ on memberships too) We kept everything the same except name. So much easier now.
  15. I agree with the needle in haystacks being therapeutic. When i am stressed out I take a ride and do some caches to forget about things going on in my life. Some NIH are frustrating and I might give up, but it gives me something to go back for and tackle again sometimes with Turtle, sometimes without.
