Well this is my trusty cachemobile a 97 and still going stong. With the price of gas and 40 plus miles to a gallon I can't go wrong. Notice the Geocaching sticker in the rear window..

We typically cache in our 97.5 Hummer, but sometimes we go in my '72 Pinzgauer 712M. No problem reaching caches with either of these trucks.

We generally go in my estrogen mobile otherwise known as a 03 Ford Windstar. But we are currently looking at purchasing a Jeep with full intentions on putting some Pinelands Pinstripping on it.

Yep, they're a blast. The cachehound even has padded troop seats when we chauffeur him in the Pinz. Here we are parked below the Elberta Beach Cache (GCGFYB ) in the Lake Michigan dunes near Elberta:

I drive a Ford Escort Wagon, although I think I am driving a Jeep . You might be amazed some of the off-road locations I have taken it through the deep Florida sand. I did get stuck once this year. I went back a few days later and hiked the last mile.

 

I sometimes drive the other vehicle, a Dodge 1500 Conversion Van. It is built on a pickup frame so does pretty good.

 

I would really like a Jeep , but probably won't get one due to gas mileage and maintenance issues. I think I want a Subaru Outback for my next vehicle.

 

Oh yeah, and I have taken my mountain bike to a few off-road caches I was sure the Escort wouldn't make.

Last night I had my 2005 Specialized bike on the great prarie land of North Dakota-great gas mileage.

This last Sunday-I let my geocaching friend drive-we went 90 miles away to Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

We have done all the local caches (actually I got new one today to do!)

When we have to be FTF it is the 68 Chevelle SS - gets us there faster then everyone else..

Here is my Geocaching tools !

First, my lovely mountain bike for the distances in the city of Athens and the mountains around...also the sea-shore...

 

And for the greater distances away from the city of Athens, I use this sweet tool !

The Hyundai Atos Prime...my pride and joy !

It does not have any fear for gravel roads...gravel is his playground!!!

And it is not hungry for fuel...

It can be driven for 300 kms with 20 euros unleaded fuel ! ! !

Hummers be jealous for this ! Ha ha ha ha ha !

Just wondering what kind of vehicle do people drive while Geocaching. Do you have 4x4's for the off-road cache's? Are there road warriors that mainly stick to the ones that you can drive right up to, or hike back?

I have a jeep CJ-5, but you just can not beat Pete and Jake...left and right feet!

Hi,

 

We normally use our Cachemobile #3

 

We take it almost everywhere, but, if the going gets tough it´s better to take the tough wich is The #1

 

Sometimes the Cachemobile #2 that used to be this one

 

It was a very reliable 4x4 that we could take everywhere, but, it was not very confortable to take the kids and we sold it.

 

And got one of this:

 

This one wich is great for town caches and all those near the road but dont ask him more than that.

 

The best of them all is surelly our Cachemobile #1

 

This is the one to take when you are going to face rough terrains. You can take it everywhere. No problem with holes, rocks, mud, trees, paint scratches etc...

 

And, if we can´t take the car we just have to wear our boots and get going. Luckily, in Portugal in most of the caches you can park very near (1 to 2 kms the most).

But, there are a few where you´l have to walk for some hours to get there.

I just bought myslef a brand new 06 Wrangler X, for my caching trips. Traded in my little sportcar. I had a 95 Wrangler years ago....guess jeeps are in my blood!

This afternoon my son and I went to find a couple of caches in the area, and we used his 1980 Chevy Chevette. If it wasn't that, then it would probably have been my work car, a 1986 Chevy Celebrity. On longer trips where we desire a reasonable chance of getting back home, then its either our Ford Aerostar or my wife's Ford Taurus. But, best of all would be our 1960 VW Karmann Ghia (hence, my online name).

We just started caching, and up til now we have only used one vehicle for caching. However, in the near future it will depend on the area for when HBHunter and I go caching. We have three vehicles in the fleet, all with different characteristics.

 

When we want to to economical (Who doesn't with today's gas prices!), we will take the Civic hybrid.

 

When we want to do a lot of caching quickly, then the 04 GTO comes out.

 

Anything in rough terrain or come winter, then the 03 Silverado is the official "Geo-mobile"

Up until now, we used the official "herdmobile" which was a 1996 Pontiac Transport. If the kids weren't with us, we took the 2000 Grand Am. But, the Transport finally broke beyond our repair, and we had to buy a new vehicle. So now, the official "herdmobile" is a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette. It's so comfortable I fear we will all be asleep before we get to the cache!

Interesting thread. Im sure that a small percentage of people have dedicated rigs that they use specifically for hunt for caches. BUT, how many people who took the time to post a picture of their vehicle are also using that same vehicle for every part of transportation in their daily tasks. Im sure that most of us use the family vehicle for about all that we do, NOT just geocaching

1999 F-350 4x4 Dually, Crewcab, Lariat, Powerstroke Diesel. 6" lift and 315/70/R16 tires. Goes anywhere it can fit and fords waist deep water with ease while carrying the entire family. Gets 14mpg doing it, too. It is my daily driver. Apologies for bragging, but I think this is what this thread is for.

I used to think that I would always have Grand Cherokees (pics and story in a later post), but I don't really care for the WK for a number of reasons (The largest of which are IFS and the absence of Select-Trac), although the BlueTec option almost won me over.

 

I'm going to miss my WJ when I finally get around to replacing it, but my wife has given me the green light to get either an H2 or an Avalanche when the time comes. Now if GM would only hurry up and stuff a Duramax in those vehicles, I'd be a happy camper.

I just bought a new rig yesterday from my nieces husband. They are being transfered to Germany and are leaving Monday. I get to pick it up Sunday.

2001 Toyota Tacoma SR5 TRD 4X,3.4, king cab, bed cover, spray in bed liner, AC, auto,power windows and locks. All the bells and whistles. It should take me wherever I need to go.

Just took the new GeoCopCar on a trip last weekend. The other people in our group were getting a kick out of everyone lining up behind us on the interstate not wanting to pass! Not to mention that muggles quickly leave an area that you need to get to when you pull up.

Sigh...Yeah, I actually bought a car just for geocaching. I have a sedan for the daily commute, but the Jeep lives in the driveway until the weekend rolls around and I feel the urge to find some caches up in the hills...
