  1. I printed up my own little cards I stick with my geocoins out in the world, but alas, at times people still take them and do not pay attention and they disappear.
  2. supply and demand, read my reply above. why is this a problem? it IS one of the most beautiful geocoins out there. so far nothing else has come close. it's like owning a mercedes. it is gorgeous and holds it value. who creates those prices? not the seller. it is the buyers that create the prices. if no one wanted them, they would sell for $9.99 again, why is this an issue? do you have a problem with someone who buys a bunch of coins and turns around and sells them on ebay for four times their original price? capitalism at its best. how about folks who buy big collections for a lump sum that is less than the sum of its parts and then turns around and sells them for a substantial profit one at a time - either here or on ebay. good business practices. the vendor was very clear in his answer - these were from his private collection. they were not for sale before. i believe the "NEW" meant they weren't used, they had not been activated, they had not traveled. they weren't from trades. they were "new." but that is just my thought. make sense? and that is a problem because ...? look at how much amusement this has created. Correct RSG. For the last time. There has NOT been a re-minting of any of these. The last minted were at the time of the Trickster and Paula's version (late 2008??? I believe). GCG even checked for himself. The coins I sold this and last week on ebay were all but the last 3 Tranquility coins out of my private collection if that is an important issue to anyone. And the word NEW was used because of the space limit in the title section on ebay, it was referring to Unactivated as RSG pointed out. Geez, I haven't minted a coin in over 18 months, I quit collecting and now am selling most of my stuff and there's so much drama here.
  3. No they have not been re-minted. I personally still have about 12,000-13,000 unactivated coins in my attic and a bunch of the older versions of Tranquility Geocoins. Wasn't trying to stir the pot. Was a simple question since when I asked you over a year ago did you have any tranquility coins for sale or trade you stated you had gotten rid of them all. Didn't mean to derail this thread... my apologizes. These are all from my personal collection which I am liquidating on ebay. I am only going to keep the coins I currently have out traveling and a handful of special trades and mystery coins.....everything else will go. WOW!!! Castle Man!!! I just saw that!!! You still have 12,000 - 13,000 unactivated coins in you attic???? That easily makes your attic a geocoin bank or a geocoin safe, and you a geobanker! Hmm... with all these coins.... the first thing that passed from my mind was the famous coin bath Scrooge McDuck used to have! when I was reading the stories and the magazines with that... Oh.... it was a dream! My friend you can do that! Even my real coin collection is much much smaller in numbers!!! WOW!!! I wish I could see them! To clear confusion (please no more email requests) I only have 3 Tranquility coins left in my personal collection of coins. The 12,000 is other geocoins from around the world and almost every maker.....not Tranquility coins. Those are done and have been done for over a year. None have been re-minted and they won't be.

  5. If you happen to find an Antique Bronze and/or a Portugal gold in your attic, I would love to acquire them. They are the only versions I still need to complete my set of all 38 versions of the beautiful Tranquility geocoin. ~Karen Nope, none of those.
  6. I already did. ~J Bingo........so much for the re-minting conspiracy. Back to geocaching.
  7. Instead of all the speculation on re-minting why not just ask Bryan at Groundspeak when the last tracking numbers for these things were purchased and he'll tell you the date before the last (Trickster and Paula's) were minted. Nothing since then.
  8. No they have not been re-minted. I personally still have about 12,000-13,000 unactivated coins in my attic and a bunch of the older versions of Tranquility Geocoins. The re-minting on Tranquility "Should" be closed after the first 40 versions (or however many there are). The 2007 Tranquility is no longer authorized to be reminted, period. ~J Since when did any geocoin require authorization to be re-minted ? And from your statement (period) you must have some authority over these particular coins. Interesting. Obviously you missed the LARGE RED LETTERS on the auction that state the coin on auction is one of 2 left that I personally kept in my collection. Hint: Read the "fine print"
  9. While thumbing through the Google maps for geocaching I noticed some areas in some of the major cities I scrolled through required me to shrink my view because the view exceeded 500 caches. Then a thought occurred to me <<<<< This is a dangerous concept, me thinking. I started to wonder which towns or area has the most caches per square mile. I also noticed some very large cities with very few caches. Hmmmm, I thought then it might be fun if I asked here for folks to post a geocache map link or even the gc number of a cache within a very dense area. So here goes, let's see what's out there. Post on this thread an area you know of or have cached that is "cache rich" or post the geocaching googlemap link or just a gc number of a cache in an area that is absolutely cache rich. Lancaster, CA area

  11. I still collect them. Here is how I display them at events. Still need to add the 50 or so new ones, but this is getting rather heavy.

  14. Christian informed me he will be uploading the codes this weekend.
  15. I have just sent all of the activation codes for every coin I have made to Oakcoins. Christian (at Oakcoins) has graciously taken them and will be hosting all of my activation codes from Castle Coins & Pins. I have closed the geocacoin site in lieu of other interests.
  16. Last night (8/24/08) at 2200 Kaitlyn lost the fight with Cystic Fibrosis. Her family wants to send out their sincere Thank You to all who helped out by purchasing the Geocoins and with the fund raising auctions. No further details at this time.
  17. Hi there coin people. I have been detached from geocoins for quite some time now and have not made any trades, sold, or released anything for over 6 months so the last thing I expected to see in my mailbox was a coin envelope. But, when Tasha and I walked out today to get the mail we found one of the afore mentioned self addressed envelopes. Inside is coin #71. This is stunning. Beautiful Asian artwork and a very nice theme. Since this is a luck and protection coin I will put this in my geo-vehicle to ensure it travels with me when i am out on the geo-trail. I'd like to thank the mystery person who sent this coin out. This type of coin is truly uplifting and a very kind gesture and will be kept and put to good use.
  18. If I am one of "those" I have just moved on
  19. Coins "trackable coins" are made to travel but they are not lasting in caches as well as I had hoped. Over 700 coins out and about 50% are now "missing" or "stolen".
  20. I have a feeling this was an attention getter to bring your attention to the other two coins announced for sale here. You looked, right? I know I had to. To the OP, you ought to have opened an individual thread for each coin, so the community can find the individual geocoin threads at a later date. We say "One coin, one thread" but it works the other way around too. One thread, one coin. For geocoin historical purposes. Guilty, looked too
  21. Medical thread or geocoin thread ???????
  22. To clarify. There will be NO MORE of these made, period.
  23. WOOO Maybe I'll stumble across one when I am in Scotland in April !! Fingers crossed.
