  1. Both my grandmother and my grandfather died from complications from diabetes. My father currently is in the early stages of it, so i'm sure i'll be doomed to have it. Having said that, please let me know when you plan to release the "Unite AGAINST Diabetes" travel bugs.
  2. Surefire all the way! The e1e clips nicely to the center console of the car. If possible I use the spotlight on my car.
  3. I have left unactivated geocoins as FTF prizes in some of my better caches.
  4. Retail is $149.99. Asking $120 shipped. Will trade for Garmin GPS18 (new)
  5. Better deal Here. They also have Kingston brand for $1 more, if you pay attention to that kinda stuff.
  6. 7.9 miles directly south. If it wern't for that big lake directly to the north, it would probably be my home coodinates!
  7. Why am I anti-Jeep? Because I trip on that dadgum lip between the floor and the door when I get in and out of one and end up falling flat on my face. A little consideration for those of us with size 13.5 boots are in order.
  8. 'Evening all, I'm seriously looking at the GPS18 for a permanent install in the car. The front is a bit cluttered as it is with the laptop, handheld GPS, Sirius, and other radios. So, I was wondering what my options are for mounting elsewhere. How long is the cable attached to the receiver, and would the unit stand up to being mounted externally? My first thought would be to roof mount it. Another option, if the cable was long enough, is to run it to the rear window. Thoughts?
  9. The Fingernail Bug Its a small jar with nail clippers attached. The idea is you find the bug, add some more fingernails to the jar, and send it on its way.
  10. I would suspect the new card then. Is it possible that the new card needs formatted? Yes, the card reader will show up in Mapsource as an option for transfer.
  11. Were you able to load the maps before you ran the update? First thing to try is to make sure the MicroSD card is properly seated and locked in. Next, use that external card reader to try and load the maps, yes it will work that way. That would rule out the SD card. Next step would be to call Garmin and ask for a warranty exchange. I just did the same thing, on my new 60Cx, with the exact same problem.
  12. You're kidding - it's right here in the Isle of Man! *snip* Being mostly Manx myself, I'd love to visit sometime!
  13. Closest not owned: 90 feet. Yes, I was FTF. And the hider didnt know I lived here when he placed it. Kinda fun to catch people in the act.
  14. 42 while caching in Erie, PA on the hottest day of the year. The next weekend we did 40 in one day in Akron, OH. The weekend after that we got 36 in Lorain County.
  15. I have one where the combination is hidden at the cache site, hidden in a rather evil way but an experienced cacher would be able to find it with a bit of thinking. Its great because the container is very obvious, but the way to open it is the difficult part.
  16. Para Ordnance P12 .45. First one out is a solid silver hollow point projectile filled with garlic, just to cover the bases.
  17. Just took the new GeoCopCar on a trip last weekend. The other people in our group were getting a kick out of everyone lining up behind us on the interstate not wanting to pass! Not to mention that muggles quickly leave an area that you need to get to when you pull up.
  18. 30 seconds * 300 caches = 9000 seconds = 2 hours 30 minutes. Not pissing off cache owners and half of the geocaching community, priceless.
  19. On another note, I wonder how many of these caches will be muggled because of this type of "power caching". A large van full of people, most of them speaking with a heavy German accent, if not in German, speeding up to an area, one of them hopping out with an electronic device, doing something to a lightpole, then speeding away??? This is a reckless way to cache and will only bring attention to the hides opening them up for vandalism. I think its also a true testiment to the sad state of homeland (in)security that these guys didnt get arrested or atleast questioned.
  20. I once kicked a rotting stump down a hill that I SWEAR I checked all in. As it was bouncing down the hill, the cache flew out. Great. Found the cache! Carrying the huge stump back up the hill was fun too, I guess.
  21. I imagine that the first finder of this cache would claim first find .. Then someone else down the road, lets say the 7th finder, might actually catch on to the "first 10" idea and proudly proclaim "I am one of the first 10 finders!!" Everyone else would just look at that person funny, say "who cares?" and everything would move on as normal.
  22. Handspring Visor Deluxe new on ebay for $12 It has no fancy features, but I wont cry if I drop it in a mud puddle in the woods.
  23. It helps with the muggles... even the ones with a badge and a gun
