  1. I have had a very precious TB taken and not returned but iti s unknown who took it. The cache has been archived. I spoke with the cache owner who checked the cache and said my bug is definitely not there (it is a uniform patch from the space shuttle Columbia. ) This is the third bug I have lost. There definitely needs to be a "verify cache day" so all of the bugs out that can potentially be located. I have personally visited three caches in the past month that said there were travel bugs and there were not (and no one "beat" me to them).
  2. **shuffles feet** Hi **moreshuffling, eyes down** I have come here today to say..confess..that I kept a very cute TB for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long (booing) . I did try to send it back to the original owner as I have been ill and not caching which is a lame a** excuse. **Holding up three fingers in the Girl Scout salute** I promise to never do that again. And guess what, he's going free tonight!!!
  3. You can get ammo cans at gun shows for a song. too many micros out there..... my hubby and I have a huge one planned for hiding next month.... you can also use old tool boxes.
  4. MY '91 Jeep with 37's or my Ford F350 or the Quad it carries. And for those "easy to find" caches, my 2000 Camaro SS convertible. Easy satellite link up!
  5. Never caught peein' but hubby and I once..well, yada yada yada...but it was no big deal (when the mood strikes, it strikes!). Another couple happened by and we all just laughed and they moved on. WOMEN and I guess this could relate to guys, too: NEVER GO ALONE. I had a scare last year down by the American River on the trail(sacramento) and I was just sitting watching the river when a man came up to me and asked me what I was doing. Luckily, my hubby, who had stepped off to pee **irony** heard him and came back quickly. Scared the hell outta me though. Now we travel in packs and are very aware of our surroundings. If we're in a park area where they might be rangers or whatnot, we let them know about creepy people.
  6. I'd just like to say that this is one of the greatest things I have ever seen happening. You all really need to take a bow. The pictures, the comraderie, the work...I literally was brought to tears by this. YOU ARE THE MOST AMAZING PEOPLE AND I AM PROUD TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH YOU.
  7. Thank you very much. I didn't have my Magellan with me ***slaps forehead*** but it was fun to find them anyway. The sunset was gorgeous, too. LOL thanks!
  8. Hi! I climbed to the top of Haleakala (Volcano in Maui, HI) the other day (10,023 feet) to the observatory and visitors center and in my wanderins came across two (?) geodetic markers. One says US COAST & GEODETIC SURVEY azimuth mark satelite triang station, a number I can't read and the year 1966. The other marker I cannot identify. It says US DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR UNLAWFUL TO DISTURB and numbers I can barely read that I think say 5 degree 0 degree N. Can anyone help me identify these? One was right out in the open (tho hubby walked right by it). The other was not hidden but difficult to see due to the wear on it. I can eventually post pix of them.
  9. How about we wait for the full moon, thrown green tea leaves into the air (facing East) turn in a circle while standing on one foot then howl at the moon? In all honesty though, what is the value of rating the cache other than to give a generalized idea of what getting to the the cache is like? Each individual is really gonna have their own opinion as to how easy or difficulty a cache is. u kno? How about this: DHTLYC - Don't Have to Leave Your Car DOI - Doi..very easy NWOWIFIA - Nice Walk Oh Wait I Found It Already TWF - That Was Fun TWNF - That Was Not Fun TWRNF - That Was Really Not Fun Skull and Crossbones - Attempt At Your Own Risk (most likely death)
  10. I live in the great state of confusion! no, wait... state of mind ..no, wait, **shuffling through papers** the state of affairs.... **opens drawer**closes drawer** the state o the gubenator
  11. What wonderful stories but I have to share what my New-To-This-Game kids did last night while out caching. As we are new, we didn't have anything for trash but we went to a local park (Pecan Park, Orangevale, CA - very close to our house and the kids BMX there). There is a lot of trash, especially in the creek, apparently a hotspot for drinking teenagers. I commented about it and about how I didn't have a trashbag and my daughter said "Let's come back tomorrow and clean this up" and my son (12 - gotta love that age) says "and we can put up garbage bags in various places so the losers that litter can get a clue". We're going back tonight to clean up. ~cleaning the world, one cachehunt at a time~
  12. OK, yeah, HI! New to geocaching and this site. My hubby and I stumbled across a cache by accident and are now hooked! after reading this and other threads, I am totally confused as to which GPS would be the best bang for newbies (I have 4 kids so I am looking for ease of use, good to great data usage/input capabilities, price, etc). We also go quading frequently and will also use for that. Soooo, any help will be greatly appreciated. We did find a second cache without a GPS device but it was not easy I do not want to spend more than $250. We are very excited to join this game!!
