tsunrisebey
Ok, here is the scoop. I ran this idea by another geocoin addict buddy awhile back and he thought it was funny. I have an idea for a design (trackable) for 1 side and I was thinking of running a contest to design the other side (I'll explain why shortly). Now for the funny part and maybe a bit gross to those who have no sense of humor.... I have a t-shirt and I'm sure some of you have seen the saying and this is just one of those things that should be on a coin (well to me at least ) "Bring a compass, it's awkward when you have to eat your friends." Compass can be exchanged with GPS easily. Now maybe my sense of humor is warped and I'm wondering if there are others with a good warped sense of humor? I'm not sure how well something like this would go over.... so give me some feedback. The other side of the coin: I thought it would be fun to run a contest to submit a 'humorous' design. The winner gets some 'XLE/AE' in return. Of course the design would have to pass Bryan's inspection One thought was a couple of hikers sitting around a campfire roasting "little pieces of something" you know.... funny stuff left up to you all. I sure hope I don't regret posting this, lol. Quote Link to comment
BRoKeN W
That made me chuckle. Quote Link to comment

Crowesfeat30
Well, I suppose it would depend upon the design... The quote is hilarious, tho! You could have some Gollum-like character gnawing on a bone... But that might be in poor taste. CF30 Quote Link to comment
Sparticus06
I am a sick a twisted person...I love it. A few ideas come to mind. I know I cant draw them, so lemme bounce em around a bit in my head then I will PM or email ya with the ideas...lol Quote Link to comment

AtwellFamily
Ok I had an idea, can I just thow it out here? Guy packing his backpack, one hand spoon and fork... the other a GPS. Caption says "I only have room for one, choose wisely." I can see the Garmin ads on tv now. Edited September 12, 2008 by Atwell Family Quote Link to comment
Toojin
You know your people sitting around the camp fire? The caption could be: "Can't we have S'More?" Slinks back into her cave... Quote Link to comment
sweetlife
Sound like a great coin idea, be interested to see what everyone comes up with. Were always up for a good lauph. Life sure is been hectic lately. Barry and Valarie of sweetlife Quote Link to comment
GPX Navigators
I could just see it. Welcome to the Dark Side. Hah - make it black. Leave it to their imagination. But definitely like the tag line. Quote Link to comment
Let's Look Over Thayer
"Bring a compass, it's awkward when you have to eat your friends." I am reminded of the University of Colorado, which immortalizes the memory of America's only convicted cannibal, Alfred Packer, with the Alferd Packer Memorial Grill. Their slogan is "Have a friend for lunch!" Before everyone's delicate sensibilities got offended, CU celebrated Alferd Packer Day. Each year, you could get the annual T-shirt with such themes as "Taste the Thigh Country"; "Nothin' Says Lovin' Like Someone in the Oven."; "Where's the Beef?"; "Tasting a New Generation" and "A Kinder Tastier Nation" It may be in poor taste but at least it tastes good... +chancerider
I think it's great! Reminded me of Hannibal Lecter's line in Silence of the Lambs (I think it was).... "I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner". Yes, I do have a sometimes twisted sense of humor... plus, I loved that movie. Back to my corner now.... +AtlantaGal
Well the saying is kind of funny, but the imagery is gross. Quote Link to comment
Rockin Roddy
Was it Porky Pig and Daffy Duck who were drifting at sea in one of the cartoons? Daffy was looking at Porky like he was a pork chop while Porky looked at Daffy like he was duck dinner? I like the idea and would likely try to trade for one if they are made! Quote Link to comment
creacher
Absolutely LOVE it!!! Excellent idea for a coin! Quote Link to comment
off-camber
Reminds of a saying we use to say when I did a lot of SCUBA Diving... "you don't need to swim faster than a shark just faster than your buddy...." Quote Link to comment

snowball's-keepers
We are definatly twisted and warped...go for it! I find the quote very humorous.... and at first thought i would be into the coin idea. then the more i reflect upon it, it is a family hobby (sorry to be the downer with kids) but I could see some parents struggling to explain the coin to their kids (my daughter is almost as into coins as I am!). so, i think the imagery will be tricky! Quote Link to comment
zazth
Like the idea for the one side. You know the stance kids take when they are busted doing soemthing wrong? The head down, hands behind the back, one toe doodling in the dirt stance? How about a guy or a personified frog in that stance with a skull, femur etc... strown around a campsite in the background? Quote Link to comment
Rockin Roddy
Emailed you an idea Steph! Quote Link to comment
ELTADA
Well the saying is kind of funny, but the imagery is gross. I agree with AtlantaGal - the saying made me chuckle but it would be difficult to add a picture that would interest me I think. I could see this being of interest to a lot of collectors though... After all your beautiful and meaningful designs, this would be a departure for you that would certainly test your design skills! But if anyone can do it... Quote Link to comment
Rockin Roddy
Think whimsical or cartoonish! Quote Link to comment
earthrooster
Absolutely fantastic idea! Of course the design would determine whether I'd get one but I probably would Quote Link to comment
LadyBee4T
I think this is bad timing for me. I'm not a prude and I do have a sense of humor but you see I just finished reading a book called "The Road" basically about the end of the world where cannibalism runs rampant. At this very moment after reading that book, I don't think the coin is funny. Quote Link to comment
tsunrisebey
Thanks for the feedback all It's interesting to read what this makes some of you think of I'm definitely not hungry for breakfast this morning For those of you who might be a bit turned off or think this is done in bad taste, let me just say that the coin idea when thought up was not done with any particular past event in mind. It just made me laugh and well you just can't be serious about everything in life. The design for the front is very much Nature based and the back would be done in a way where you had to use your imagination a bit. I'm still thinking about doing the coin but it's not written in stone yet. Kid friendly; well the design itself will not be an issue, I suppose the saying would be the issue for some parents if one had to explain what it meant. Obviously if the coin became reality, don't buy it. If found in a cache, well I guess I'll leave that up to each individual to handle the situation as they see fit. I'll just leave it at that. +Kealia
I've often joked about something like this on DeathMarches so the saying itself is funny to me. Would need to see the design to determine interest. Quote Link to comment
Sileny Jizda
I'm thinking a backpack with a skeleton waving out of it. lol Quote Link to comment
fox-and-the-hound
I love the idea! I could just see the back of it being the face of a meat thermometer with the rare/med/well done markers Quote Link to comment
C A Royal Flush
Someone chomping on what looks like a turkey leg, but when you look closer its actually the leg of that guy with a TB tatoo on his leg. How's that for warped? Sorry, tattoo-leg-guy. Quote Link to comment
AtwellFamily
I love the idea! I could just see the back of it being the face of a meat thermometer with the rare/med/well done markers Compass looking needle on it would be good. I think "rare/med/well/lost" would be good on the termoneter. Quote Link to comment
LadeBear68
All I can think of is cannibals dancing around an open pit, perhaps that was one of those credit card company's advertisements. Quote Link to comment
ThePetersTrio
It doesn't bother me. I think for little kids - well they can't read anyway and the ones that could read it probably wouldn't even understand the meaning. Now my middle-schooler would find it gross but funny! As others have said, I'd have to see the art before I'd decide to purchase the coin but as far as the phrase goes, no problem here. Quote Link to comment

My son is five and, yes, he could read what it says on the coin. He has mom's warped sense of humor and would probably not only get it but would think it was funny. If you decide to make the coin, I'm in for a few. Quote Link to comment

avroair
LMAO! I think I would rather starve. You could have two geocachers sitting with a third being turned on a spit. Quote Link to comment
Koolbrez
TSUN you have got to make this coin. What a twisted and warped coin it could be. I would envision the back with a Twister game spinner on the back and say TWISTED instead of twister. It would give you a way to decide where to start. Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
This is just sick. I hear that people taste like roast pork though. Apparently I'm wrong. I think you could have a coming out party with this coin, complete with appetizers. Quote Link to comment
tsunrisebey
I did run the idea by Bryan just to make sure it would be ok to go with the theme, as long as the coin is done 'tastefully' (no pun intended) there shouldn't be a problem with going forward Some of you are more warped/twisted than me, a yime with teryaki glaze, hmmmmm.
