gridlox Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) I think this is worthy of it's own thread... The idea was brought up in another thread of a CITO coin and a couple of ideas was thrown about. EDIT: IN MY EXCITEMENT TO SHARE THE DESIGN OF THE COIN, I TOTALLY FORGOT TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!! ATLANTA GAL WAS THE ONE WITH THE CONCEPT FOR THIS COIN AND THIS WAS JUST MY INTERPETATION OF HER CONCEPT. SORRY AG!! This the design I created for it. While I definately don't have the financial means to see something like this through, I'd love to see it produced. (As would others! ) Since CITO & Signal are trademarks of Groundspeak, we'd like to see them available through the Groundspeak Store. So this is an official request to Groundspeak to produce them. So, let our voices be heard! D-man Edited January 12, 2006 by gridlox Quote
ParentsofSAM Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Come on Groundspeak GO FOR IT!! This coin is cool! Quote
+LadeBear68 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Did you post this in the Cito forums as well? Quote
gridlox Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Did you post this in the Cito forums as well? Thanks! I didn't think of that. It has now! Quote
+Damenace Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Come on Groundspeak GO FOR IT!! This coin is cool! Crossing fingers, is it helping . Quote
+AtlantaGal Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I also alerted Eartha to the other posting with a request that she forward the link to someone in the know who might take on the project and have the approval. Aside from some adjustments for the mint and changing the backside copy to include gc.com tracking info, I think this design is perfect. I'd definitely like to own some of these coins. Quote
+jamrasc Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Very cool looking coin. These would be great to give away at some CITO events as prizes. Quote
+Ladycacher Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I would be buying some that's for sure! I just love signal! Quote
+Geo Gypsy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 That coin looks great. I think it is an awsome idea. I would definelty buy some. Lets go groundpeak.......JUST DO IT. Quote
+Big JohnP Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Oh Yeah!......... That is a really cool coin, and it would really be a part of Geocaching. A must. I'm in, if they come out . Quote
+Kealia Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Has my support - would love to see Groundspeak do this. Nicely designed Gridlox. Quote
+501_Gang Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Would definently buy some of these. Hope Groundspeak runs with it! Quote
+-SuMa- Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Very cool idea. I suggest to make it trackable with a cito icon and it would be nice to make them buyable only for cacher, who have a cito log from a cito event. I think, this would help to increase more cito events which are very helpful for nature. best regards Marc Quote
+fox-and-the-hound Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 We love it! It's the very heart of what we do and shows the love we have for our playground. We're new and haven't been to any events yet, but we've been participating in the CITO ideal long before we ever knew about caching. I'd be very interested in purchasing. Thanks for starting this thread and for your work in designing the coin - F&tH Quote
YemonYime Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Very nice idea and a crisp design Gridlox! I could see this as an excellent incentive to host CITO events indeed. Perhaps you could directly pitch the idea to Rothstafari and see if it's possible? Quote
SCP-173 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I like the idea, too. It has my full support (whatever that's worth)! Psst, don't waste any of the space on there with tracking. It's perfect as it is. Quote
+AtlantaGal Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I would prefer a trackable one... Me too. Quote
ParentsofSAM Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I would prefer a trackable one... Me too. Me 3! That way I could track all the caches I did CITO at... Quote
+Fundamental Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I would prefer a trackable one... Me too. Yeah deffinitelly trackable! Quote
+Kealia Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I don't care about tracking. Just means another icon on my page, but I'd prefer to lower the cost and forgo the tracking. I realize I may be in the minority here, but that's my $.02. Obviously you can't please everyone. Quote
+Allanon Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Maybe for a case like this, Groundspeak might be persuaded to 'throw in' the tracking and icon... Well, it's a thought... Quote
+tdecell Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) I don't care either way, trackable or not, I would want some. Would buy more if cheaper priced (ie:non-trackable?) Maybe only purchased through CITO events? Post a CITO event and you can buy a certain # of coins to be sold at the event. Sort of an "award" coin for attendance. Just a thought..... +RustyBeerCan Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Earth Day is April 22 ~~the biggest C.I.T.O.event day of the year~~ It would be great to have these in hand for prizes and such! I like the C.I.T.O. attendance coin Idea Quote
+GBOTS Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Tracking is unnecessary and a waste of money Quote

That's exactly what CCGC did with LE version of their CITO geocoin. --Marky Quote
+Crowesfeat30 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Very nice design. I should hope that Groundspeak would be open to the idea of making a CITO Coin. CF30 Quote

+ScoutingWV Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Excellent! I'm in for a few - trackable or not. Quote
+marvin1226 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Great coin. I don't have a preference about tacking, but I would certainly buy a few for my newly started coin collection. Quote
+Prairiepartners Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Love it!!! Hope they take on this project!! Quote
+bullit Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Very cool design and idea... let's hope grounsdpeak runs with it. Getting a CCGC LE CITO coin after cleaning out a filthy creek was a nice end to a rewarding and fun day with a bunch of other cachers. Quote
+Rusty O Junk Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Love the coin just the way it is. Tracking numbers area joke since most aren't even activated and end up in someone's binder. Is this about coin collecting or icon collecting? Just my $1.50 worth. Quote
+robert Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I'd take a couple. And I'd be surprised if anyone were allowed to do it on their own, I'd imagine you might very well see something like this as we get closer to April. It'd take a pretty big stretch of luck to be able to use Signal for your own coin, but I guess anything is possible! Quote
+AuntieNae Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 AWESOME Idea! The Tapps & I are slated to run a City wide CITO event in April for the city The Tapps lives in. This coin would be a nice addition!! My vote is for Trackable .. unique icon of course. Quote
+Damenace Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 So is this suppose to mean something good ?? Quote
Bryan Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Groundspeak will be producing this coin design (or at least something very close to this design). Of course, it will be trackable. Details to follow asap. -Rothstafari Quote

gridlox Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 So is this suppose to mean something good ?? I didn't want to jump the gun but I have been emailing back and forth with Rothstafari this afternoon. As you can see above, the coin (or a variation of it) is in the design stage as we speak!!! I personally have no further say so in the future of the design or production, but they were pleased enough with my concept to run with it!! Thank You Groundspeak!! D-man Quote
+Crowesfeat30 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Wonderful!!! Sign me up for two (2) CF30 Quote

gridlox Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Sign me up for two (2) Too Early for that!! These are just starting to be developed beyond "Concept" stage. Quote
+Dreamin'Eagle Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I am all over this coin. When my mom and I are out we always CITO be it in the woods parking area or where ever, we do our part to clean up after the slobs in this world. I think it would be great to be able to place one of these coins after finding the cache or doing a CITO event. Quote
magellan315 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Great Design, glad to see that its going to move ahead. Just plan on setting up an early advance order period, there will be alot of people wanting to buy this one. Quote
ParentsofSAM Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 WOW!! Way to go Gridlox....and hooray for Groundspeak. Can't wait to get teh new CITO coin. Quote
+tdecell Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Thanks Groundspeak, awsome looking coin!! Quote
