+SilverMarc Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 The type is really a bit blocky, perhaps a "lighter touch" could be tried; the maps would look better if they weren't "sphereized" (without getting into any discussions of Mercator projections, etc.); and although the shuttle is large (as someone pointed out), it needs to hold the tracking number and I think it's a nice touch. (It does "Americanize" the coin, and if a GPS satellite could be made to work for this, I think that would clinch the idea.) IMHO, of course. --Marc October 13, 2005 @ 2:41 PM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756'
+Bob&TheGang Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I like the Dillon Gang's graphics. Just my two cents: - Instead of a Space Shuttle have some type of satellite - I like "Where on Earth is that Geocache". And unless Geocaching.com has changed their guidelines, if you want to track this geocoin on their site, you have to use their logo too (like the Colorado geocoin). Unless you could convince them to let to make a satalite that has the gc logo built into it.
SCP-173 Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 The GPS satellites are no less American than the shuttle. GPS is free to the world, developed and paid for by the United State Department of Defense. Try again.
+nscaler Posted October 18, 2005 Author Posted October 18, 2005 And unless Geocaching.com has changed their guidelines, if you want to track this geocoin on their site, you have to use their logo too (like the Colorado geocoin). Just the stylized "G" is enough. Maryland and the MIGO only have the "G".

+LadeBear68 Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 How would the sat. look on the other side of the coin at the bottom?
+nscaler Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) How would the sat. look on the other side of the coin at the bottom? I agree. More balance and not cramming everything on one side. Edited October 21, 2005 by nscaler
+TMOCM Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Looks great. One suggestion would be to remove "Third Rock from The Sun" and move the satellite down closer to the bottom of the coin just a hair or two. Either way it's going to be a nice looking coin.
+El_Rolfo Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Beautiful coin. I like the second version more than the other one. Put me on the list for 5!!!
+Kilted Cacher Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Hasn't this already been done? The coin may look a lot like this:

+AtlantaGal Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I'll take two if I haven't already noted it somewhere else in this thread. I didn't realize someone grabbed the ball and ran with it and throught it was still an art discusson.
+Cache & Keri Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 I'm interested in 3 coins......both designs look good

+GrandpaKim Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Well, if this is a go, then our group, COOL, would be interested in approximately 35 coins.
+CacheHunters42 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 (edited) Any Idea on when they would be available? Edited October 26, 2005 by CacheHunters42
Tandemaniacs Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Are you going to use the artwork you asked me to make for your coin?
+The Dillon Gang Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Are you going to use the artwork you asked me to make for your coin? it is one of the final choices. will leave it up to nscaler...its his idea
+2Wheel'in Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Absolutely fantastic, count on me to order 5. Regards, Bill

+nscaler Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 Are you going to use the artwork you asked me to make for your coin? it is one of the final choices. will leave it up to nscaler...its his idea I just got the idea going. Let the people speak!
+Me & Bucky Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I would be for taking off the "Third Rock from the Sun" 5 please!

+macatac1961 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Obviously you never saw the "Screw geocoins" thread. The guy was complaining about all the geocoin talk on the travelbug thread (before the split of topics). Then the orders started. Then I made a fake coin. And got orders. If you search, you will find it. I wonder if the people ordering coins from this thread understand that this thread is "For Amusement Only" and that there is no coin being made?

No. This coin will be made. The original "screw geocoin" was a joke. Which turned into a real screw geocoin (with the nut geocoin coming later).
+Team CoyChev Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Well then, start the presses and save 2 for me.
