+tastom Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 (edited) I was the first FSNI (Foreign Service National Investigator) at the American Embassy in Switzerland. After I quit after almost 20 years in the security business, I have now a much less spectacular job. I am now a call agent for the Swiss TCS, the equivalent of the American AAA, a nationwide road side assistance organisation. It might be less spectacular, but it is definitely cheaper for the American tax payer, as I was on the payroll of the Departement of State. So, be happy that I quit! My son and family now live in Colorado Springs. Last time we visited we didn't get to the zoo due to other priorities, but I will make it a point to go to that neat place next time. I survived 22+ years in the Air Force then spent several years teaching computer courses at a two year college while setting up and maintaining computer labs and associated networks and contracting out to the District's IT office. +geospyder Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 (edited) 23 years in IT for a major corporation, the last 10 as a systems programmer and before that a COBOL programmer, systems analyst and computer operator. I was laid off in 2001 and got a job with a consulting company and I go where and do what they tell me to do. So far I've helped set up, then worked in a call center, been an auditor, a data entry clerk and a software tester. Sounds somewhat familiar (COBOL, systems analyst, etc.). Did the major company thing and jumped ship to join a dot com. Dot com got bought out, I got laid off, cashed in my options and been enjoying life ever since. +team moxiepup Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Lately, I've been pestering people for a living. I used to pester HS students, working as a substitute teacher. I would pester students to do the work left by their regular teacher, or at the very least not to kill each other. I got a job over the summer, that has been extended indefinitely, pestering adults. Now I call medical establishments to see it they recieved our faxes. Boring as heck, but I don't have to keep anyone from trying to kill each other, skip class, swear, etc... just pester! My real vocation is as an artist. It's what I studied in college. Unfortunately, I'm too busy pestering people to get much art done. Sadly, pestering pays better than painting. Quote
