  1. Dear larimda! I fully agree! According to the situation in Middle Europe, you are undoubtedly right. But e.g. the "land-owner"-issue is not an item at all in Europe, at least <1%. Proves that your key message is hardly understandable for an non-European cacher. I can hardly imagine that Groundspeak is willing to determinate the different requirements, even if they are able to undestand what you really meant.

  3. I've never heard of a geocache sittin' on the territory of the United States published in German.... But you'll surely find cachers providing English translations in every specific area of german-speaking Middle Europe, we are not "ugly" as well And if there are no more caches to do, tell your daughter to start hiding some by droppin' them off from an aircraft
  4. I can see a reason: Currently, there are e.g. 3.651 (!) enabled caches in Nova Scotia and 39.322 caches spread all over your home country. I guess, that should be sufficient for a pretty busy cacher-life up to the age of 120 and above I can see no need and no sense in "forced overequipping" every km² of this planet and so do obviously many more. Above all, it's not primarily a question of "have to", it's a question of skill indeed. Nobody is forced searching for boxes, but i personally wish that some (few) cachers never started hiding their boxes . And if boxes like that were just a few miles away, even though I wouldn't pay them a visit. Not every single location (including mine, of course) is worth a Pulitzer-price, but sometimes the riddles themselves are reason enough saddling one's horse. And when times go by, you will develop a very accurate feeling for "worthy" caches. And luckily, the meaning of worthy is at least as widespread as our cacher-hearts, so that all attitudes can co-exist easily beside each other. And as mentioned above, you will be busy the rest of your lifetime just seeking for the ones already existing. And hopefully, you'll be satisfied by doing so On the other hand i appreciate very much the attitude of cachers to contribute to the community whatever they do, examples have been mentioned enough above. In your case, it seems to be hiding caches as well, that's pretty fine. Northern America and Central Europe are not really suffering from "cachelessness" at all. On the contrary, it seems to become more and more difficult to find 100 km² without our boxes And a box that has been hidden just to be hidden, had better been unhidden If i weren't absolutely sure that a location has to be canned in any case to provide a "wow" for my fellow cachers, or to dedicate anything special to a special person, my last idea would be "boxing around" I don't actually know, how many active account holders there are on this planet currently, but i am truly sure that there are enough to let everybody participate in our sport like they want to do without being angry with or forcing them to participate in a specific manner. 5. Bumped and deeply impressed after having consumed the ideas (for several hours now !) that some weird genius' created This tombstone is my absolute favorite, CONGRATS, Canoe Guy! ______________________________________________________________ A question concerning Rex & Butterfly's photo-collection, which isn't any more available at: http://jdavis955.home.comcast.net/CoolCach...tainersPG1.html Does anybody know, if, and if, where it has moved to? ______________________________________________________________ And for now, i'd love to share a funny story with you having occurred recently at one of my caches. It's an urban multi (3.5 / 1.0 at that time) and i didn't think that the way of hiding would be that difficult, at least it was worth spending hours at the final by the famous local cacher-scenery. It's hidden right in front of the house of a Geocaching-friend of mine and dedicated to him at the outside of the pole on a bridge carrying the (blurred) name of the river running underneath (see the enervated beta-testers nearby ) After several weeks of happy and undisturbed cache-life i got a phone-call from my friend some late afternoon telling me that the local authorities are (re)moving my cache... As i asked him to save it for me until i would be able to renew it, he laughed and told me that the project is being finished right now and that the cache had successfully crossed the street and was fixed again at the opposite side of the bridge. Without any notice of the cache by the two involved craftsmen... Before... After...
