+2bugs Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 We have a new coin in the works. All net proceeds will benefit the Mount Rainier Chapter of the American Red Cross. The coin is trackable and will have a distinctive icon. My question for this group is: Do you think $12 including domestic shipping is too much to ask considering the circumstances? We are debating if this price is too high and will discourage sales of all 200 coins but we would like to make as much money as possible for the chapter. We also want to raise awareness that every cacher should get trained in first aid and CPR. You never know when this training could save a life, especially when you are on your own out in the woods looking for tupperware. your comments are appreciated Quote
+Pepper Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Hi bugs...I would pay 12.00 for the coin. Snow shoeing Rainier and finding my #1200 cache just outside of Rainier on the north side...ahhh the good ole days! Pepper Quote
+Crowesfeat30 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Nice!! I will have to order a couple of these. $12 is kind of high but not so high if shipping is included. CF30 Quote
+coreynjoey Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 (edited) For the standard geocion, I'd think $12 was too high, but since this is for a good cause, I'd get a few. Edited January 11, 2007 by coreynjoey Quote
+The Dream Cachers Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 We would like 1, please add us to your list. Quote

CLAMM Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Will the coin come in more than 1 metal? I would like 1 of each metal.. Quote
ParentsofSAM Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I think you should sell them at different levels like...... $25 -- Platinum Buyer $18 -- Gold Buyer $12 -- Silver Buyer $10 -- Bronze Buyer Give each level a certificate saying they bought a coin at such & such level and thanks for you sponsorship....or something. That way the people that want to donate the most can and the people that really just like the coin but can not afford the higher price can have one too. Just a thought. Quote
+slowdownracer Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I'd buy one for $12.00 Make it non-trackable and add the $1.50 to your good cause. But then you won't be able to sell them here. OOOPS! Quote
+Kealia Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Are they trackable? From the OP: "The coin is trackable and will have a distinctive icon." Although I can see the confusion since the artwork doesn't reflect this. Something to think about: Make more coins (thus getting a price break on the coins) and sell them cheaper to make more money overall. With all the coins coming out these days most folks are selective about what they will buy and this will allow more people to buy the coin resulting in more money for the Red Cross. Quote
+AtlantaGal Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 What size are they? If they are 1.75" to 2", $12 is ok. But I think you would sell more coins if they were $9 shipped and thus make more money for the Red Cross. Quote
+fairyhoney Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Oh yes, I would order at least 2 of these coins especially since it includes S&H!!. I was once a Red Cross Volunteer for 5 years and loved it ! Quote
+Goudacat Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Twelve dollars is a great price for a coin where all the proceeds go to charity. I would by one, happily knowing that even though I am not getting a cheap, bargin coin, I am paying a decent, affordable price and the money goes to charity. Quote
+Hula Bum Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Really nice design. Do the math and see if you would be better to sell more for less money or less for more money. Quote
+2bugs Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 That is a great idea. we have official Red Cross Certificates at the chapter. I could easily print the buyers name on the certificate and send one with each coin bought at a level above $12. The certificates costs about seventy five cents or so plus additional postage but that would work Chuck I think you should sell them at different levels like...... Quote
ATMouse Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I'm interested, as I am DSHR, DAT and the local Co-chair of DS. And you ought to look at the guidelines for the use of the Red Cross. It's a symbol that is pretty highly protected. Is your local BOD supporting this? (I'm guessing they are, it's a great idea!) Quote
+whitebear Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I would be in too ,as they are a great cause.Put me down for 2 Quote
+donbadabon Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Definately let us know when you are ready to sell! Quote
+Cashe Crusaders Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 We would be interested in 1 possibly 2. Nice design and a great charity. Quote
+9Key Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Good cause, but $12 is out of my price range. Quote
+Gruntmo Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I will take three of these when the time comes. Nick Quote
+TeamHopewell Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Would definately be interested in 5 since I work for the Red Cross. Very nice Coin!! Quote
keewee01 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I think you should sell them at different levels like...... That is an absolutely brilliant idea! Good thinking. I will have to remember that for if I am involved in anything similar!! Quote
+Degai Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'd buy 1 or 2 for the cause. Let me know when they come out. I like the design. Quote

+AtlantaGal Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Has a price and specs been set for this coin yet? I still don't know what size the coin is Quote
+OshnDoc Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) I am in for 1 in each metal if you decide to make different metals. (If gold only, I will take three) After all, the Red Cross was very very helpful to us after Katrina made a visit in our neighborhood. Do you have any more info about size, metal, thickness, finishes? etc? Thanks Edited January 21, 2007 by OshnDoc Quote
+2bugs Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 Regarding the questions about the Red Cross coin, it is 1 1/2", it will be trackable and the price will be $12. There will be 200 standard issue coins, of which 175 will be offered for sale and 25 kept for chapter use. The LE Metals (15 of each) will be available on eBay. All profits benefit the American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter. If you have questions I can be contacted at the chapter using this address: chammonds @ rainier-redcross.org. I will post the artwork for the icon tomorrow. we plan to offer the first 5 standard coins on eBay before a general release in late February. I think it would be appropriate to honor the orders placed here before opening it up for sales to everyone. How does that sound? Mr Bug aka Chuck Hammonds Quote
+horsegeeks Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 We would love one of your coins. Please put our name in for one Quote
