Perfect, thanks FISUR. I have always valued this coin as one of my favorites. It is bittersweet to see these old friends go away. Seeing how happy the new owners are when they get one of our old coins makes it okay, especially when they really understand the history behind the coin. I will pass this along
  2. Since I am about two thirds of the way through off loading my collection that once numbered close to 4000 coins I can add a little perspective. The ePlace is a mystery. I have sold more than a 1000 coins there and I continue to be amazed. Some coins that I think are real winners don't get a single bid. Some weeks half of the coins I offer for sale get no bids at ll. Then a coin that I had only mild interest in will go ape s***. Sometimes I list a coin and get no bids at all and a month later I relist it and it gets 6 bids and goes for $15. Most sell in the $8 to $10 range with surprises every week coming in much higher. Most surprising is that older non trackables are bringing decent prices, $5-$8 with surprises there as well coming in at over $20 quite often, especially for older coins. It is a crap shoot. The best thing for me is hearing people are happy to get my old coins. The process has been fun. The coins sat in buckets for 4 years gathering dust. To sell them I had to drag them all out, organize and alphabetize them. Listing them requires a little research so i learn a little about these old friends as I say good bye to them one by one. Probably by the end of this year of middle of next year I will be shed of all but my military coin collection, which I intend to keep. That is how I started collecting coins in the first place, challenge coins have always been my favorite. 2bugs

Someone is interested in my Team Fisur geocoin and wants to know a little history. All I know is that it is one of the oldest coins. Any help you can give me with background on this coin is appreciated, thanks
  4. I wading through the boxes and boxes of coins that have been gathering dust for the last 4 years and I stumbled onto the Kachekat coins, which brings up a question. Of the 3 coins, only the polished nickel has a tracking number. The AG and AS coins both have the GC logo and the text "trackable at geocaching.com" but there is a blank space where the number should be. Is this a mistake or was only 1 of the 3 coins trackable? Second question is I have 2 other coins (Cache is King & Signal Aug 06) that the GC site says do not exist. I have double triple checked the numbers and had my wife look at them too. No luck getting the gc site to recognize them. what to do? 2bugs
  5. I first started collecting Military Challenge coins during my tour of duty. When we started collecting geocoins in early 2005 the coins were pretty simple and were usually a personal coin of the cacher who had it minted or made it themselves. It was considered gauche to ask money for your coin. You put them in caches or traded them. The coin had meaning because of the cacher attached to it. The money changed everything. Not necessarily bad, it's just different than it was, but so is everything. Coins seemed to go through a cartoon phase with lots of cutsie coins. Some people got really creative and artistic. I love coins like the Laptop and Worker of Wood, those were clever. And then some got carried away. We have Popes and Politicians, Charities and Causes, Animals and Plants, Municipalities and Maladies, Holidays and Hokum...you name it, it's been done and sometimes shouldn't have. Everyone has a different idea of what is a cool coin. Seems like JoeFrog is on everyone's list but PC Frog is a better looking coin, IMHO, and no one wants it. Go figure. Nice designs like the Crake's are always popular. I like Geocaching Future, an old coin with a minimalist approach. I suspect it would not get very many bids on eBay. In the end, everyone wants what everyone else wants. Just like Beanie Babies. They had little value but people paid big money because they were hot, for a little while. As I have been digging through my collection and posting them all for sale, I have become reaquainted with these old friends who are now slowly going away. I tend to like the ones I associate with a person, even if it is a doggie coin. If it is a cacher that I know or have heard of and it is his/her dog on the coin, it makes me smile. Yesterday I packaged up the Motogrrl coin with the Motogrrl Memorial coin. Didn't know her personally but it made me think. I like them for lots of reasons. If the design is well done it makes it even better. If it blinks, levitates, or has a touch screen it is going to stay a keeper. But most all of them are going away as my life moves in a different, simpler direction. I will keep the military coins and a few, very few of the oldies. What does not sell will be set free. Cheers, mr.bug (the finder half of 2bugs)
  6. the web page says the bags are acid free and lignin free. I will ask them if they are considered archival quality for metal. I would suspect so. The nice part for me is the bags are crystal clear. When I am searching for a coin, even when in alphabetic order, it is much easier to recognise it. With 2000+ coins, it is sometimes difficult to find the one I'm looking for and since all my coins are for sale, I am digging through the pile regularly. this is a big plus.
  7. I am busily adding new coins to my available list. Dropped another 110 coins into the list of coins for sale. In the process I ran out of the little 2x2 poly bags I am accustomed to using. A quick trip to the specialty paper store and I discoverd 2x2 glassine bags, the perfect coin envelope, IMHO. The bags are clear as glass and neutral PH. Stamp collectors use them. Pretty cheap, too. 100 for $2.50. Problem is they are very hard to find. Forget Office Depot. Here's the best place: <commercial link removed by moderator>. The code for the bags is B2X2E. I bought a large quantity to get the discount. My plan is to include a Freebie 100 pack of bags on large coin orders. They are great if you display your coins in compartment style bead boxes you can find at Michael's
  8. I added 100 more coins to my list of available coins. Part of the process is to check and see if they are activated. I have 2 Portland 2006, both unactivated. On the trackales search page, I entered the first coin # and up pops the screen that tells you your Portland coin is not activated, do you want to activate it now. On the second Portland coin, the resulting screen tells me my "Bad Andy" coin is not activated. It is a Portland, not a Bad Andy. I have double, triple checked the coin number, enter, re entered, had my wife read the code and enter the data, all with the resulting Bad Andy message. Any ideas on how I can fix this? or should I just sell the set and tell people one is a problem coin?
  9. I got a surprise in the mail on Saturday. Returned home from a visit to Kansas and a mysterious package was in the mailbox with a mystery coin. Very cool coin. The real Mystery is what to do with it. I stopped collecting coins 3 years ago and I'm in the process of selling all my coins. This coin is intriguing. I sure appreciate, whoever you are Mystery Giver 2bugs

    ?Mystery Coin?

That's it! Thanks. So it is called the Mystery Puzzle coin? It must not be what people are referring to when they ask about "Mystery" coins then. Or is it?

    ?Mystery Coin?

when I preview the post, the image appears. later it goes away. this really is a mystery anyway, the lower half of the coin is yellow sand with an egyptian like pyramid and eye on top, the sky is a light blue
  12. I have been asked several times if I have a Mystery Coin and I always say no. Today I ran across this coin on my list: is this the coin or is it something else? Pretty embarrasing when some of you guys know more about my collection than I do, LOL mr.bug <img src="http://cointracking.com/photos/2bugs_trade_mystery1_Front100.jpg">
  13. I'm updating my available list and came across the 2003 and 2004 Oregon geocoins. Are these the oldest geocoins? I'm not sure when M10Bike ver1 came out, it may be older but I don't know.

    Geocoin pricing

I added quite a few new coins. My plan is to add at least 36 more by the end of the day. Trying to get a good mix of under $10 coins and some of the more rare coins

    Geocoin pricing

I put an Anthus Laptop on my available list. Not sure what to ask for it. It is activated but has no logs. Look it up using TB1PV9T. My question, what is a fair price?

    Geocoin pricing

Wow, the response was great. Lots of coins moved already. I updated my trader list a liitle. Will add about 50 coins in the next few days. The Pi coins are available, as the sale fell through. I would like to sell them as a pair, email if interested. Like most of my keepers it is activated with one log. Can be adopted, reformed and logs wiped clean so it is good as new

    Geocoin pricing

thanks for the input. I will stick with this pricing because it seems to be working. 11 people bought coins so far. I am in the process of packing up all those orders, with a trip to the Post Office planned later today. I understand I can post the GC trackable coins on this forum. I will get a list together and post it tonight. Thanks to everyone and apologies to anyone that I might have missed. Been pretty busy

    Geocoin pricing

wow, I got quite a few responses. Hopefully I have responded to everyone. If I missed you, give me a nudge. I can make a list of all the trackable coins and post them here, which I will do tomorrow. In the meantime you can find the complete list on another cointracking site that I probably should not link from here. send me a note and I will email you a link
  19. I have been out of the geocoin loop for a few years and have lost touch with the market. It appears prices have come down a lot. So, in a feeble attempt to unload a couple hundred trader coins, I have priced them at $8 to $10 with free shipping. Does this seem reasonable? Please let me know. What cointracking sites are best suited for selling coins other than eBay? My list is on cointracking.com. Any advice is appreciated. Would it be acceptable to post a long list of those coins here?
  20. the primary reason I got an iPhone was for the geocaching app. I use it all the time. Now it is time to get Ruth a new phone. She likes the Verizon HTC Incredible. Is the official geocaching app available for Android OS? Is it similar to what I am use to with iPhone. I will be migrating from AT&T to Verizon in July, and will probably stick with iPhone. TIA mr.bug, the finder half of 2bugs...
