Nearest Caches

Just for fun, i thought it would be interesting to find out how far away the nearest "yet to find" cache is from your home co-ords.

At present mine is 0.3 miles (beat that!). Although i suspect keen cachers will have a little further to travel!!

When I was living in N Yorks, my nearest unfound cache to home was over 30 miles away.

 

Now that I've moved to a new area, my nearest unfound cache is only about 8 miles away as I've yet to get out there and find them all !

my nearest is 8 miles away, and I can actually see the general location from home, but after checking with auto route its a 35.6 mile journey each way .

15.7 miles North east is our closest unfound cache. So that's us in the lead

Our nearest is 2.2 miles but our nearest unfound is only 3.3 miles. We DNF'd this one when we first started caching earlier in the year because a locked five bar gate blocked the way (illegally it turns out). We just haven't got round to going back yet.

16.0 miles. But this is on the Isle of Bute which involves a 30 minute ferry journey, so probably takes at least an hour (+£25 fare for car and driver). Still, I'm off to Bute this weekend to tidy up loose ends. If you ignore the island ones, it's 42.7 miles.

My nearest unfounds are a couple of webcam caches, both about 2km of me. I will get around to finding them sometime, when I can arrange for someone to be at a computer while I go there.

There's also a multi cache which starts 2km away, but will involve walking at least 10km. I'm tempted to go for it in the next couple of days.

 

I've just checked, and there's a total of 20 caches within 2 miles of my home coordinates.

My nearest according to the closest cache page is 267ft, although actually this is the coordinates for a parking space and not the actual cache. The next nearest is 413ft but this is just the start of a multi. My nearest 'real' cache is 1.3miles away.

My nearest unfound cache is about 600 feet away from home, but as I set it, I am unlikely to ever find it! The nearest unfound apart from that is 2.6 miles. We are in the middle of cache rich territory round my way anyway. I expect the figures to drastically change when several more escape from the starting traps this weekend!

The nearest cache to my house is 3.1 miles and it belongs to me. The nearest unfound cache is 16.3 miles away. And as a matter of interest there are 29 caches in the surrounding 20 miles hidden by 7 different cachers. My I did not realise how many cachers had hidden round my home area

16.8 mi to my nearest unfound thanks to The Hokesters. I knew I shouldn't have told Si that I'd done every cache within a 17mi radius!

367(!) caches in the surrounding 20 miles hidden by 63 different cachers! The closest I've yet to do, apart from my own, starts 1.1 miles away. I'm leaving it for a rainy day

Mine was 5.9 miles (one i had tried but DNF ) last month, but a new cache hes come online and thats only 4.4miles away. Still doesnt beat .3

That's in London too so unlikely to get there for a while.

There doesn't seem to have been much activity around the Cambridge area for a while

 

When I first found out about caching I put my home coordinates in and got 0.4 miles, which was quite cool. (Obviously that's not 'new' any more

 

There's now one a bit closer at 0.1 miles - but that's one I've set!

0.24 I can see it from my front door. And with th big Binos on the cache it can be fun watching the cache gannets trying to look inconspicuous on a hilltop while muggles stroll pass twenty metres away..

The nearest is 2.9 m Boggarts Behind You but that's my daughters cache which I helped har place. The next nearest is Philips 13 View, which I will get around to doing one day as it's only 7.5 miles away.

Never mind the nearest (about 18miles), I've just done a download of all my unfound caches in the UK from GCUK and I now realise I have over 4000 unfound caches to go (4003 to be exact).

 

Do you ever get the feeling you're on a treadmill? Still it's something to do over Xmas.

There are 2 caches both 0.4 miles away from us which we're yet to 'do'. Unfortunately, they're not in the nicest part of town so I'm not gushing with enthusiasm for them. We have only placed one cache so far - 6 miles from home.
