+Jeremy Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 (edited) Watch this space. Update: We would like to invite any geocacher, not just those with PDAs, to watch this space. For the roundtable the ownership of a PDA will be unnecessary. In fact a sampling would be nice. We're planning to put together a roundtable discussion in the next two weeks. If you're in the Seattle, WA area, have some time, have a PocketPC device, and don't mind signing an NDA, we'd like to get you involved. I don't have the specifics yet but want a placeholder so folks who are interested can get an email notification when I have more info. Edited January 11, 2005 by Jeremy
MarcusArelius Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 I'm in. I love NDAs ( ) Count me in. Especially if you intend to include MobilePC (my PPC device's battery is getting old). Let see NDA... No Dinkin Around...
+KG7JE Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Live in Auburn, Work in Seattle -- within a couple hundred feet of Freeway Park Cache. Using an IPAQ PPC with Nexipak sleeve and Transplant GPS. Work has kept me so busy the last few months that my caching skills have atrophied. Be good to have something push me back out on the noon hours.
+Bull Moose Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Does it need to be PocketPC or will Palm OS work?
+Bull Moose Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Sure. We can accept Palmies. I'd be interested in participating, then.
+paul2tele Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Have Palm (actually Sony), will travel. Oh, wait, I will be travelling... Will be in Phoenix 1/19-23, otherwise may be available. Just became premium member, am anticipating running my first PQ next week. May be able to offer 'unblemished' feedback.
+NBJPoppa Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 (edited) Well, I would be interested, although I am just learning how to use a Pocket PC. (It's a Sony Clie, if that matters.) Edit: I *must* be really tired. Not only can I not spell this evening, but my visual spell checker is malfunctioning as well! Edited January 9, 2005 by NBJPoppa
MarcusArelius Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 ...It's a Siny Clie... Must be one of those knockoffs .
+5 Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 I'm interested (assuming my work schedule allows). IPAQ 2215 with Pocket PC 2003.
+vds Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 (edited) Sure, if the time/place work out. Dell Axim X30 mid (Pocket PC 2003) with 802.11b and Bluetooth. Also have an old Palm IIIxi and a Zire 71. Edited January 9, 2005 by vds
+Shop99er Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Do you have to be actually using your Palm for this game? Or is just owning one good enough?
+Right Wing Wacko Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 I'll bring my old Compaq 3955. Sounds good!
+McLaughlin's Marauders Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Ok count me in too. Compaq iPAQ 3670
+LthrWrk Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 This sounds interesting.. I do not have a pocket pc but have considering upgrading from the PalmIIIxe. Is this going to be an online meeting? Not sure I understand how or what NDA means? I have been enjoying adding geeky toys to enjoy the outdoors more.
+soreyes Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 I am interested in helping out. I have a Palm IIIxe. Keep me posted. Thanks
+Allanon Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 Lots of us with Palm IIIxe's... Keep me in mind as well and depending on timing I'd love to join in.
+Jeremy Posted January 11, 2005 Author Posted January 11, 2005 What qualifies as the "Seattle area"? Can you make it to Seattle? We're not paying for transportation, so if you have a jet handy, come on over. I adjusted this to include any geocachers, regardless of whether they own a PDA. I'll send another update as soon as I have some dates/times.
Moun10Bike Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I'm definitely interested! I currently have an iPAQ 3975.
+George501949 Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I would drive to Seattle to do this, I have an iPAQ 5555.
+fauxSteve Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I have a Palm Zire 21--about as basic as it gets with the current models. It's been great for paperless caching, but I don't know if it's got the juice for whatever is in mind. I'm already in Seattle, though, so I'd participate.
nolenator Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I really should get with the current generation and buy one of those things. My current form of paperless caching has its downfalls, the hampster keeps going on strike. Would like to join in just to learn more about PDA. Peace, Nolenator
+LthrWrk Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Kewl... Ok now I get it.. thought there was more geek techno talk I did not understand. Sounds fascinating.. NDA.. well do we have to have a secret clearance? I am all for participating where I can to help improve geocaching.
+Riddlers Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 We will be up in that area working from about the 20th through the end of the month. And we each have a palm.
+Arabesque Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I would be interested in attending. I have a Dell Axim X30 mid (Pocket PC 2003) with 802.11b and Bluetooth. I have just started using the Dell for paperless caching.

My current form of paperless caching has its downfalls, the hampster keeps going on strike. Would like to join in just to learn more about PDA. Peace, Nolenator I'm w/ the PM on this - my kingdom for a PDA. But meanwhile - perhaps the Nols and I can serve as the table's Techno Hold-outs... Then again, there's that NDA to worry about - doesn't that mean "Never Dropped Acid"???
+Bull Moose Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 (edited) Then again, there's that NDA to worry about - doesn't that mean "Never Dropped Acid"??? I've signed so many NDAs in my carreer I can never remember what I'm not supposed to disclose anymore, so I never tell anyone anything. You want to know my name or how old I am? Too bad, I don't want to get sued. Edited January 12, 2005 by Bull Moose
+GeoRoo Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 I have a Ipaq 2215 with PC 2003. Sign me up. The different times when PQ's wouldn't come through and I had to go without my PDA were times of panic. If you scream at your printer and squeeze it, the paper does come out faster.......
+webscouter. Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 I am offering a bribe of a full slab of Kansas City famous BBQ ribs to anybody who sends me info on what is in the pipeline. No fair leaving us poor folks in the Midwest out of all the fun. (By the way, I am not asking anyone to violate their NDA, just trying to cajole Jeremy into sending me some cool new software for my Palm)
+GeoRoo Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 We would have to kill you if we told you what was going on...........

(By the way, I am not asking anyone to violate their NDA, just trying to cajole Jeremy into sending me some cool new software for my Palm) Adam's Ribs ? oops, that's Chicago. Hope I don't forget the sauce and cole slaw...
+LittleBlue Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Ooh, I love focus groups. Don't ask me about the one I did last year... I have a 2 palms and a Palm and am happy to help. Live close enough to Seattle that when we travel, we just say we live in Seattle. It's easier.
+DoodleCat & MisterKrrk Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 (edited) I'm interested. My PPC is an iPaq 3850 with a Navman sleeve. I just upgraded to pocket pc 2003. I'm in PDX but wouldn't mind a trek or two to Seattle if that works out. Edited January 17, 2005 by DoodleCat & MisterKrrk
+Sluggo Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Jeremy, I know you are in the planning stages and probaly don't know the answers yet, but: Night time?... Day time?.... Weekends?.... Weekdays?.... 1 hr?... 2 hrs?... 1 Day?... 3 Days?... I would love to participate. Ive got a hp iPAQ Pocket PC and Sugar uses that darned ol' Garmin IQue 3600 (that I hate). I would only be able to do weekends. Let us know, Sluggo BTW: I work for the guvment.... we are the masters of the N D A (violators are shot on site, or even worse, discredited).
fallout4x4 Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I adjusted this to include any geocachers, regardless of whether they own a PDA. I'll send another update as soon as I have some dates/times. I am available. Actually am driving to seattle everyday lately. n47 36.544 w122 19.254 to be exact. I have no pda. I have a ppa (personal paper assistant) in form of paper and pen. I find it works real good for me. However I am willing to learn.
+Thomas & Dingo Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Count me in, I always take my PDA iPaq 5555 and my laptop when caching. Be surprised how many open wlans you find.
+The Jester Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Sounds interesting, depending on timing. Mine's a Palm m125.
silverwolfe Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 (edited) Yes, I'd love to come to learn more!! Recently got an ipaq 3955, still trying to get it set up for me - and now want to know how to utilize it &/or a GPS..... I'm in PDX, but can sometimes get to Seattle (altho first fri/sat in Feb, have to go to Bend, where some caches are calllling to me!!).... perhaps meet y'all soooon...... silverwolfe Edited January 28, 2005 by silverwolfe
+Cruiser Guy Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I would also be interested in bing involved and have a windows ce device called a harrier. Andy
+LittleBlue Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 So... I was wondering if anything is actually going to happen?
