  1. Is this a hypothetical situation? Maybe, the owner of the 1000 bugs has a caching friend that would take the bugs?
  2. I agree with the proposed changes. wonder if RFID technology could be used for tracking trackables? maybe in conjunction with a phone app? Haven't put much thought into it. just popped into my head.
  3. ******* NEW INFORMATION AS OF 10/26/2012 *********** CCHS states that the geocoin challenge is over. For now you can still return your completed passport for a geocoin. Please do so as soon as possible. Museums will no longer be stamping the GEO-Heritage Tour passports. Coins can only be picked up at the Museum of the Oregon Territory which is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday from 11 am - 4pm. They are located at 211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City, OR. Prizes have been distributed to the winners of the prize drawing (for people who filled 25 of the 30 passport items). ***********************************************************
  4. Some quick notes: Some of the museums have passports available. I think Philip Foster Farm, Rose Farm, and the End of the Oregon Trail Museum each have a few to hand out. Or you can print your own by downloading the file from clackamashistory.org and look for the Geo-Heritage Tour link. Regarding the Philip Foster Farm, I double-checked with one of the folks that manages the site regarding the entrance fee and here is the response: "We are not requiring admission for geocachers. In the first few days, there was some confusion about that, and we're not turning down any donations, but we have the "welcome geocachers" sign out. I've really enjoyed reading the comments on the geocache site." Cache logs: Good job on the comments everybody! The site managers at these caches are paying attention to what you write. It helps promote geocaching when cachers say nice things about the places that let us put geocaches on their property. It makes setting up coin challenges easier when there is a good rapport with the property owners.
  5. For some reason I thought there was going to be an Oregon City coin this year (as part of the Sandy, Gov't Camp, N. Clackamas, etc. coins from the Mt Hood Territory/CCTCA folks) but I found out yesterday that Oregon City won't be part of it for 2012.
  6. The kick-off event for the Clackamas County Historical Society (CCHS) GEO-Heritage Tour was June 16th. There are still 150 to 200 geocoins available. Passports can be downloaded and printed from clackamashistory.org click on Geo-Heritage tour at left side of the page, then on 'Passports'. This tour goes across Clackamas County (and a little bit of Marion County). It includes geocaches, earthcaches, museum passport stamps, and answers found at 'info' sites. You need to fill 20 out of 30 possible passport entries to earn a geocoin. If you find 25 or more your name gets entered into a drawing for prizes. More details can be found in the passport. 7. The Oregon City coin challenge started a week ago with plans to give away 250 coins. After one week, 162 coins have been handed out. As of 10:30 this morning there were 43 left at the Chamber of Commerce office and 45 of them were headed down to the Visitor's Center at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. At this rate they will be gone in a few days. Other challenges are forthcoming. see http://www.mthoodterritory.com/geocache for more information

  12. Today someone found the Soda or Sulphur cache and took the Golden Ticket from it. Lucky thing, we were given another ticket to place, and we put it into the Portland Rose cache, GCNXWV Happy Hunting.
  13. All of the event hosts are dropping tickets into caches. There are lots of tickets out there to find, but the last of the tickets that DoodleCat & MisterKrrk have placed is here: GCNC07 Soda or Sulphur? Here is some interesting history about the park that this cache takes you to: http://www.duntonfarms.com/wilhoit/index.htm
  14. The Rivergrove Tour ticket was picked up this evening. The last two caches have beverages: GCYYWJ Stafford House Coffee & TB Hotel GCNC07 Soda or Sulphur? http://www.duntonfarms.com/wilhoit/index.htm
  15. I'm only mentioning the tickets that we (DoodleCat & MisterKrrk) dropped into caches. There are 3 other hosts to the event. They are stealthily placing tickets into caches too. We just felt like telling everyone where ours were.
  16. Someone found 'geocachers in high places' and took the ticket! Same with 'Canemah Cache Returns'! There are still a VERY few tickets to be found from our (DoodleCat & MisterKrrk) allotment of Golden Tickets: GCYYWJ Stafford House Coffee & TB Hotel GCNC07 Soda or Sulphur? GCJJQE Rivergrove Tour
  17. The 'Canemah Cache Returns' ticket has just been picked up.

  19. Yamone, geobeadgirl, 3MudDogs and DoodleCat & MisterKrrk are hosting a geocaching BBQ/Potluck event called Fun, Games, and Lemonade! on Sunday August 17th. The event will be held at North Clackamas Park in Milwaukie Oregon. The official events begin at 1:00 PM but we encourage folks to arrive earlier to meet and mingle with your fellow geocachers. We are hiding raffle tickets (Golden Tickets) in various caches throughout the Portland metro area so keep a sharp eye out for them. If you find one, be sure to bring it to the event for a special drawing. We’ll supply hot dogs and all the fixings. And of course, Lemonade. There will be a couple of Geocaching 101 sessions for beginners with representatives from REI. Bingo! Water Balloons! Field Games! Cache-O-Rama! Check out the cache page for complete information!
  20. oh No, Not another Travel Bug Hotel in a high muggle area, extreme stealth required. (had one of my bugs lost in a cache like that. the cache only lasted a few days before it was disabled).
  21. On the 10 o'clock news (FOX) the reporter said "by accident, the climbers stumbled upon a geocache, a kind of a techie hide and seek device, which told them where they were". I can just see flocks of people running to REI to purchase one of these new-fangled geocache techie devices that help rescuers find you when you're lost.
  22. I love trading stuff! Things we put in caches that tend to get taken right away are: party-sized playdoh, small screw drivers, foreign coins and bungee cords. We like to take yellow items out of caches.
  23. Oops! We're changing the hours on this event to Noon to 3pm.
