+quidditchfan073
Just back from caching. On the trail passed a few campsites where people are allowed to camp. Anyway, when i was passing a campsite there must a been a HUGE party yesterday i missed. There were enough beer and liquor bottles around to fill a 40 gallon trash bag! What was weird was that i found a pair of levis and a pair of socks on a big ROck. NObody was around to be seen. WHat weird things have you found caching? greg Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
Probably one of the strangest things I ever found was a giant tooth. And I mean giant. Now that might not be quite so strange if it hadn't been at this cache location. Quote Link to comment

+Miragee
No . . . it is probably a molar from either a horse, or a cow. But that formation is near a busy Freeway exit and residential streets. Seemed like an odd find in that location . . . Quote Link to comment

I am going to start feeling a little iffy about myself if you keep describing that as strange. Quote Link to comment
+iTooth
We found a nest of yellow jackets instead of the cache one time. Had to run like deers, with bees hanging on to the backs of our shirts....yipes!! We found an elk skeleton once too. Quote Link to comment

+RoyalRed
Found a muggled cache once filled with feces. Now this isn't all that unusual except there was another cacher there who had scraped all of the feces off the log sheet and was adding his log. He then offered it to me saying that he had gotten most of crap off the log. Needless to say I bypassed that log entry! Quote Link to comment

+Team RAGAR
Was searching for a cache and walked up on bright white deer bones all intact just sittin there. Another time while searching for a micro I came up on a rubermaid box just sittin out in the open. HMMMM this can't be the cache can it? It was full of PORN MAGS so being a good cacher I CITO the entire box into a nearby dumpster. Anybody ever hear of any cachers finding a dead body? I think it just a matter of time before some cacher somewhere stumbles onto one. Quote Link to comment

BC Tripper
I was placing a cache last week, and came across a dead seal on the beach. What was weird was that someone had actually abandoned their beach blanket right next to it. How they sat down with out noticing is beyond me! BC Tripper Quote Link to comment
+Sue Gremlin
I often wonder about the dead bodies thing. I hope we don't happen upon one. We do live in NJ, however, so it would not be a real surprise. We happened upon this eye carved carefully into the bark at the base of a tree the other day while placing a Jeep TB. it was about 30' from the cache. I have to wonder what that was all about. We found a cat skeleton once, too. Didn't find the cache though. Quote Link to comment

+KKTH3
I've stumbled upon a recently deceased corpse before while caching. It wasn't human though - was a white tail. No idea what actually did it in - it wasn't a hunting area, wasn't hunting season, and there wasn't any scavaging done yet that I could see so I figured it was within a day or two of a disease related death. I didn't get all that close to get a more thorough evaluation though. While walking out of the area we startled another white tail as well - quite a few in the preserve we were in at the time. 4wheelin_fool
I was at this cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fa-ef1f874df905 Bambi's Bramble in Bordentown, and I found out what "Bambi" was. I was staring at the GPS and almost walked into a deerskin(with the head still attached) wrapped around a pole It had been there since the cache was placed,(about a year and a half) but there was still bugs crawling out of the eyeholes. I had no idea it was there, until I was staring at it about 18 inches away. I guess I should read the logs more often before I go out caching. Quote Link to comment

mudhuggers
there was this one cache that you lifted a piece of wood off of a covering and there was a rubber snake tied to the bottom of the wood and it gave you a pretty good scare....other than that.........the occasional dead animal and trash.... dsandbro
A small jar of some gray powder. Attached was note saying this was the cremains of their dog, who loved to go geocaching with them, and to please carry the jar to the next cache (like a travel bug). I left the jar. Quote Link to comment

+Rick618
Sue, I think your "carving" was the gallery made by bark or engraver beetles or something similar. Still pretty cool looking. Just for fun, this Canadian site has lots of photos of what kind of bug is this...pretty interesting for when you wander across a "what the heck is that critter?" http://www.pestcontrolcanada.com/index.html Unfortunately. I have found a trail to a cache littered with recent paperwork. Seems the local construction area had no porta potties or they were too lazy to go use them. Also, was put off a cache that was next to a small stream as a very large and very decayed dog was off gassing. After a heavy rain I went back and it has been washed further down stream and I was able to hunt for the cache. Quote Link to comment

Really? Cool! Never heard of them. It looks like a Kokopelli-esque symbol of some kind, so I assumed it was someone's trail marker or something. Who knew beetles could be so artistic? +briansnat
Found this. The odd thing was that it was next to a cache called Middla Nowhere. The cache was so named because it was at a point where it was far from any road or hiking trail. Literally in the middle of nowhere and a difficult bushwack to get there. Then someone comes along and builds this. Quote Link to comment
+Team Cotati
I have not found any dead human bodies yet. I do keep on the lookout for them though. I'll be sure to file a report when I do find one. I think that I am due any day now because I look so earnestly ever time that I go out caching. I believe in the power of positive thinking. And I positively want to find a dead human body that is about 35% decomposed. Stay tuned. Edited August 5, 2005 by Team Cotati Quote Link to comment
+nittany dave
WHat weird things have you found caching? greg Adult toy right next to the cache location. Pulled it out without looking thinking that I had the cache in hand. Imagine my surprise standing in a semi-public location whipping that one out! No, I did not inspect the battery compartment to see if it really was the cache, I just left in search of a place to wash my hands. I went back several months later and found the real cache. +Nerves
I've seen plenty of underwear on the trails. Do people lose them? Or, is the underwear uncomfortable so they just whip them off and throw 'em in the bushes? Edited August 8, 2005 by Nerves Quote Link to comment

I think they were flannel so I'm assuming they were cast off in the winter. Brrrr.... A few weeks ago we saw women's undies hanging from a branch. Did the person yell "Whoopee" and throw them in the air? Quote Link to comment

+Sue Gremlin
We were scouting out an old graveyard on Saturday, and found what appeared to be two sets of bones, one from a squirrel and the other from perhaps a possum. Both were wanting for their heads. Sorta makes me wonder what the heck goes on in that cemetery at night. Quote Link to comment
