Yay! It was my first attempt at finding a cache. I went out with my 2 yr old daughter, and 3 year old little boy. I had typed the coordinates into the gps, so the little boy could could run along and just follow the arrow. It worked like a charm! We took the talking watch and the candy, and left a handful of penis bones from fox and coyote. (cleaned and sanitized, of course)

It would be a good idea for the next person to bring a nice new heavy black garbage bag to wrap this cache in.. it's getting rather icky inside there. The cache itself is in good shape, tho!

Thanks for the fun!

didnt know how to make a shortcut. if someone can, please do so in their reply.

So they left a 'handful', meaning more than one... I can't imagine you can get those in a 50-pack at WalMart!

...Not all who wander are lost... unless the batteries in their GPS die, their maps get ruined by rainwater when their pack leaks, and they find themselves in a laurel thicket. Then, they are probably lost.

A talking watch for penis bones. Would this be considered trading up?

I've been waiting for that one. icon_razz.gif

Is there any kind of record we're going for here before the Mod locks this thread up? icon_wink.gif

Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. The rest go geocaching.

Ha, and my friends thought I was crazy for walking 2 miles into the woods for a McToy!

So what about the poor guy who comes along and has no idea about the orgins of the bone, but thinks it looks cool and figures out some way to get it onto a keychain? Sounds like another Seinfeld episode to me.

With the exception of man, most primates, rodents, and several other animal groups, have a "penis bone", called a baculum. Located within the erectile tissue, this bone provides rigidness to aid in copulation. Because man is one of the few mammels to not have this baculum many cultures use the bone as a fertility charm.

There is just so many things wrong with that post, it scares me.

And its only a trade up if someone leaves viagra in the future.

I couldn't tell where that guy was from, but down here in south Jawja, the racoon bone picks up popularity, especially among hunters, every few years. I think its actually a pretty neat trade item, just look at how much discussion its getting in this thread. On the other hand, I don't imagine the 'coons would particularly happy about this being a signature item.

ODE TO AN OOSIK

Strange things have been done in the Midnight Sun,

and the story books are full---

But the strangest tale concerns the male,

magnificent walrus bull!

I know it's rude, quite common and crude,

Perhaps it is grossly unkind;

But with first glance at least, this bewhiskered beast,

is as ugly in front as behind.

Look once again, take a second look -- then

you'll see he's not ugly or vile --

There's a hint of a grin, in that blubbery chin --

and the eyes have a shy secret smile.

How can this be, this clandestine glee

that exudes from the walrus like music?

He knows, there inside, beneath blubber and hide

lies a splendid contrivance -- the Oosik!

"Oosik" you say -- and quite well you may,

I'll explain if you keep it between us;

In the simplest truth, though rather uncouth

"Oosik" is, in fact, his penis!

Now the size alone of this walrus bone,

would indeed arouse envious thinking --

It is also a fact, documented and backed,

There is never a softening or shrinking!

This, then, is why the smile is so sly,

the walrus is rightfully proud.

Though the climate is frigid, the walrus is rigid,

Pray, why, is not man so endowed?

Added to this, is a smile you might miss ---

Though the bull is entitled to bow --

The one to out-smile our bull by a mile

is the satisfied walrus cow!

Oy. Four? I've got one 14 year old girl (two younger boys) and I thought that was bad. I can't imagine having to raise four females of our species. Good luck to you.

Ah, glad to see the amusement this log could bring.

To answer one question, the garbage bag was an extra measure of waterproofing, and also strangely enuff, it provides excellent camoflauge against the tree its hidden under.

Found it! Geomorphologist and I were hangin out cuz our wives were both out of town for the evening. I had been bragging about how much fun I have been having caching, so he decided to take a late night hunt with me. We found it about 11pm. I really liked the drug pens, but instead took some incense and a geocache pin. (sweet.. thanks!) I left some more penis bones and a genuine MRE (meal ready to eat) issued to me from the U.S. Army. The MRE did not fit in the cache, but it was designed to lay around outside for years at a time anyways, so I just stuffed it in the log.

It looked like it would have been very pretty to visit this place in the daytime.. it was mighty dark when we were there, but the moon provided quite a bit of light. Maybe another day....

Thanks for the fun!

This was a nice one! The springhouse is very cool! Geomorphologist and I found this one with my two kids in tow. Its nice to see things like this are still out there! The water was flowing too!

Cache was an easy find, and in good shape! Left fox baculum, sparkly marble, and a rubber boingy thing. Took nothing.

Thanks!

This was my third attempt at this cache. The first two times I did not read the directions, and went straigt from the coordinates. I did not feel like swimming in this cool weather, so I tried again.

What a beutiful walk! I saw tons of wildlife too. This one is worth coming back to again with the mountain bike. (or a canoe or kayak)

Left some more penis bones (cleaned and sanitized of course) and something else that I cant remember right now. Took the totally cool pencil holder, and Flora Da Frog, the travel bug. This was my first find for a travel bug.. cool! I am going to put her in my first cache. I hope to get it in place this weekend. Look for it!

Thanks for the fun!

I've not actually seen this myself, but I have it on word from some guys I know that you can actually find them at some sporting goods stores. They tell me they usually see them on the counter in one of those goldfish bowl/candy jar looking things.
