  1. This is so GREAT! I absolutely love the gallery and I am so glad to see the profile picture is bigger too. Plus, I do not have to use my fingers and toes anymore when counting how many caches I’ve found. GREAT JOB GUYS and girls
  2. I agree too. These forums’s are somewhat getting out of control, however, I have seen other forum’s much worse and some very well maintained. I was only directed to the forums after sending an email request to Geocaching.com. Most of the comments left by users, left a sour taste in my mouth, but I learned to take it all with a grain of salt. It seems to be mostly the same people complaining or disagreeing with everything. Sometimes it seems that most of these people never even gave it one thought until after someone else brings it, then they want to complain about that too. I think that the real Cacher’s that make up the majority of the users on Geocaching.com never will read the forum’s and it is probably a good thing. I would hope that in the end, we can get conclusion or a deeper understanding after reading a thread, if not then what’s the point. After carefully digging through all the garbage left in the forum’s, I think I have learned quit a bit about the care and upkeep of the Geocaching site and for the people that run it. Now I know which threads to open and which ones to avoid. It is a shame that most people are drawn to the more negative threads than the uplifting ones.
  3. Well it was I (wife) that found Geocaching. I am considered the computer nerd in our family. I just happened to be surfing for computer gadgets and one that came up was a GPS. I knew what a GPS receiver was, but considered them for fisherman or something that is installed in a car. Anyway, read further and found this new tech game. I was intrigued and read tons of the cache sites. I was hooked right from the start. My husband and kids did not really understand the whole game idea at first, but I dragged them along anyway, (I’m consider as the boss in our family too, so they really did not have a say in the matter). We did our first few without the GPS’r until ours arrived in the mail. Now everyone is addicted. The kids love it so much, as soon as we get close to a cache; they jump out of the truck running in whatever direction I tell them the cache is in. Now they ask how many feet it is away, and count their steps to the cache. That actually has worked more than once. Sometimes they fight about who found the cache first. We are still considered newbies at this, and we have introduced all our friends and family to the game. My in-laws are more into it than we are, or at least they have more money and time to do it. It has been so good for all of us. I am still so impressed with all the places we have been because of Geocaching. This is truly a family oriented game, with tons of history, knowledge and entertainment. I have yet to hear anything really bad about this game and doubt there ever will be.
  4. It probably has to with keeping the table the same color even if someone tries to change it. Or it could be something else, I would not know for sure.
  5. Truthfully, I think this guy means well. I just think that he is unable to take care of what he has already, but can not resist adding new caches to our state. This reminds me of the sad story of the Cat Lady. You know the lady that loves cats and can not say no to cats. And soon she had 100’s living in her house and she can not take care of them so she has to move. Another words, he is in way over his head, in my opinion. I just do not know if any ONE person can help him to see that by email. I wish there was some way that I can do something anonymously. I do not want any hard feelings to arise, especially when I know he will be attending the local event caches.
  6. What can one do if a fellow cacher is not maintaining his caches?? This guy has many caches all over the state that he does not maintain. He has one that was an old sticker under a rock, the log was soaked, the sticker about dissolved, and the description was horrible. He had one at a Lake that the container was broken open. He just uploaded a cache, it is a multi and the cords are wrong for the second half. He has another that you cannot read the printing for the second half of the multi and another that the numbers are gone from, supposed to be on a rock. He is not taking care of caches and not answering e-mails about them. That just is not fair to the rest of us. If the cache is not available or needs attention, he should correct it. I must say I have not emailed him about this and most of this has been brought to my attention from someone else, but I have emailed him about other things and I have not received any response back about anything. What can we do?
  7. Mine was workig now it is not, what happened.
  8. I have been to a few of these, and usually it has been... 52 - 780 so then it would be 28 38.728 Check that and see if that works.
  9. Looks like we have had a couple people explaining the same way at the same time... It is great that so many people help out.
  10. Well I had some problems in the beginning, but I prevailed. I thought I would lend my helping hand. First off: Make sure you joined keenpeople.com and entered all the stat info. After doing that go to: http://www.keenpeople.com/index.php?option=com_cachestat&Itemid=87&func=link If this link does not work… then on the search box in keenpeople.com type link generator. This link generator will do everything for you. Make sure your keenpeople login id is in the ID box Under that you can choose what state logo you would like, and if your state or organization is not there just keep it on “none” Tagline options: the first one will show your raking and user defined is what you type in the box to the right hand corner Pick the colors to the right and then click the “make html” button. It will show you at the top what it will look like. If you do not like the colors you have chosen, then pick again, and click the “make html” button again until you are happy. Once you get it looking the way you want, go down to the second box, which is the BBCode output box. Highlight everything in that box, and either hit ctrl and c and the same time or right click and click on copy. Now go to your profile page, and in the signature page at the very bottom right click in there, and click on paste. Save your changes, and then log out, and then log back in. When you go to forums and reply and that box pops up, make sure that the signature box is checked. Hope this helps!!! [/url
  11. I did it. Now I just wanted to change the colors a bit.
  12. Okay, lets try again. I put the bbcode on my signature, so it should come up under my comments....crossing my fingers
  13. I assume you need to use your keenpeople userid and not your geocaching.com userid. Am I correct on this??
  14. Well do not feel bad, I do not know what I am doing either, and I know the difference between bbcode and html. I can not get my stats image to come up in either anywhere!!
  15. URL=http://www.keenpeople.com/stats/][/url][code]
  16. SEE!! I knew it. People are putting those in there mouths... No pun intended.
  17. I hope the finder does not think they are tooth picks!!! However, that would give us a new thread to talk about [This message was edited by Danny, Jeannie & Family on October 03, 2003 at 10:44 AM.]
  18. Found my own solution. North up will keep north at the top, the cursor will point up, down, left, and right as needed to show your movement. Track up will keep the cursor pointed up and the map will rotate beneath it.
  19. I currently have a Garmin GPS 12. I have no problems with it, however I would like to have a gps that used the waas, so I can zoom in closer like the 3-15 meters. I have used some others, but do not like that the map page does not move around. I want a map that turns around like a compass does. Does anyone have any suggestions??? Thanks Jeannie
