two bison Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Are pocket queries backed up or otherwise having problems being sent right now today? Is it related to the fact that I'm only getting some but not all cache find and travel bug movement logs? No, they are not in my spam folder.
foam follower Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 i've done 4 PQ's...1 is a route and that one generated at 2/2/2010 8:02:38 PM, a few minutes after i created it...the other 3 haven't run yet...seems longer than normal
a^shark Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm having the same problem. I submitted 5 about 10 minutes ago and haven't seen one come back yet. The PQ page shows that they haven't run yet.
beejay&esskay Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Overworked hamsters go on strike. It seems to happen more frequently now than in the past. In the morning, TPTB get new (scab) hamsters to replace them and PQs start again.
SerenityNow Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Put in for 4 queries 6 hours ago and none of them has run yet. ??? I'll try again now since it's a new day.

NClingen Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Submitted one yesterday evening and it never ran. Resubmitted new one this morning and neither one has ran. Very frustrating.

Firefly911 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) I'm having issues with my PQ's also. I ran 2 or 3 yesterday and 2 this morning and none of them have been generated. It figures...I just got a new GPS and wanted to do a little caching at lunch today...guess I'll put a few on manually...ugh... Edited February 3, 2010 by Firefly911
fegan Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 My weekly PQs usually arrive between 4am and 6am, it's 8am and none of them have shown up yet. Guess it's a good thing I don't have plans to go caching today.
xtb Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Same problem here ... expected mine about 5 hours ago ...
bogeyguy Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Same problem here. Submitted 2 PQ's yesterday and one this morning with no reply. Also submitted 2 new caches for review last Saturday and have heard nothing.
MickEMT Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Same issue here, no PQ's yet. I'm sure when the staff comes in to work this AM they will get it fixed. Don't forget, they are in California where it's about 5 Am as I write this.
SerenityNow Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Spoiled my caching trip to Erie, PA today though. It never fails, any time I've ever had the opportunity to ride along on a cache run, something comes up and I end up driving or something like this happens to cancel the trip!
TECGeoJim Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 My PQ's have not run today, either. I tried creating copys but they don't run either. I brand new query submitted as a ftesgt has not run. What's up?
MikieP Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Mine haven't run either - all regularly scheduled and last run a week ago. Sounds like this is a bigger problem that we've been seeing recently, where just one of the five PQ generators has a problem. This one appears to be effecting all types of PQ's; new, my finds, routes, and both odd and even numbered scheduled.
SwEagle Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm still waiting since 12 hours ago with new PQ's. What is up with that?
Teddy2k Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I ran a CAAR PQ this morning and got it fine, but the normal PQ's that I created have not run yet.
GeekinTX Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'll echo the sentiments. My daily PQs (which are usually in my mailbox when I wake up) haven't yet been run, and the temporary one-time one I created last night hasn't run either. -Ron

ClimbGuy Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Same here. I requested some PQ's last night around 9pm EST. I have yet to receive any of them. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon?
Moun10Bike Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 All of the PQ generators shut down on us in a new way last night (they indicated that they were running fine, but simply stopped queuing up new PQs). All have been restarted this morning but as you might imagine there is a large backup now. An overhaul of the system is underway and should be completed by the release following the one scheduled for this month. In the meantime, please post here in the forums anytime you see any indications that the system has gone down. We will then get it restarted as soon as we are notified. Thanks again for your patience!

Tequila Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) The PQ's have been error free for quite some time. Not sure what was done before but GS seems to be on the right track with PQ's. Edit to add: My PQ's are starting to arrive. Thx. Edited February 3, 2010 by Tequila

When he posted what you quoted it was 10:30 AM Groundspeak time (Pacific Standard Time US). Also, what I quoted bolded above seems pretty important to the issue. Edited February 3, 2010 by mtn-man
rutson Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 First report here was at 20:00 PST there are usually some folk "in the know" around well after that... I don't know what time the staff start but I'm guessing before half past ten.
mtn-man Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 If they started at 9 AM like most folks, that would give them 90 minutes to diagnose the problem, restart all of the computers, make sure the restart works, make sure the PQ's start generating and then come into this topic and post. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
Tequila Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I would sooner the fix the problem than post to here. Looks like the got on top of this quickly. And it was a new problem.

fegan Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Spoiled my caching trip to Erie, PA today though. It never fails, any time I've ever had the opportunity to ride along on a cache run, something comes up and I end up driving or something like this happens to cancel the trip! That's why I get weekly PQs and keep them in GSAK. No spoiled trips. Perhaps a DNF or two if something has been disabled or archived...but at least I have data from a week ago. Be Prepared! Set up your PQ a week ahead of time (sounds like it was a planned trip, so this shouldn't be a problem) and run it. Then check the day of the week to have the PQ run the day before your trip so you'll get an update. Then, if you insist on having the most up-to-date data, make a copy of that PQ (since a fresh PQ runs faster) and wait until you wake up the morning of your trip to submit it. If it runs that morning you'll have the most recent data, if it doesn't run you should have day old data, if there have been PQ issues for a few days (rarely do they last more than a day) you'll have that data from last week to fall back on.
nittany dave Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I only got one of five early this morning EST. I copied the remaining four just now and they ran quickly. Same workaround as usual. I'm glad to hear that the overhaul is coming soon.
RoPeHe Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Are the PQ servers broken again? Or is it just the Friday rush?
doingitoldschool Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Are the PQ servers broken again? Or is it just the Friday rush? wondering the same thing (in a nonjudgmental, wassup? sort of way, for all those wags who are about to flame me/us with a sermon on patience...)
DanOCan Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Yeah, just tried to run some PQs, one brand new and three that haven't run for a month -- checked them to run today and nothing has come through whereas they normally run nearly instantaneously.
KeeperOfTheMist Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 As well as above, the my finds query doesn't even seem to be queing at all hmm. hope the hamster hop back on the wheels soon, might wanna order another dozen or 5 as backup XD
Ambrieres Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Same problem for me, with all (the new ones as well as those who already ran previously). Nothing gets in even if I change the incoming e-mail address...
DavidMac Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) I'm about to try some regular PQs (one that I had enabled weekly came through just fine yesterday) but for now I can't get the All Finds PQ to work at all. I last ran it on November 6, but when I click the button the page reloads and... nothing. The button stays enabled, the date doesn't update, and the query never comes. I get the same result in two different browsers. Edit: my regular queries don't seem to want to run today either. Edited February 6, 2010 by DavidMac
frivlas Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 No PQs for me either. Bummer, trying to get them in for a big caching run tomorrow! I hope they kick start it again soon!
Trekkin' and birdin' Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Same thing here. Would have run them sooner, but was told to wait, because more stuff will be published in the area. Greed got me, I guess. Hope it's fixed soon.
Blue Goose Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 No PQ's received today. Let us know if the system is down.
rambrush Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Yep I ran a query when I got home tonight and nothing. Good thing I have most of the caches and won't go until Monday. Hopefully this hiccup will be finalized soon.
