  1. if a cache has corrected coordinates, those are not being used when checking to see if it falls in the Search Radius: of a route-based pocket query. the process seems to use the posted coordinates. don't know if it's been brought up before.
  2. same here...for a few hours now...also can't delete things or add things to the ignore list via the https://www.geocaching.com/account/lists page and clicking View my ignore list.
  3. been using the new logging page since it came out...ever since it was released, it's pokey slow...thought it might get better...it hasn't...i've just logged today's caches and i was previously able to go through them very quickly...but now it's click, wait, click spinning thing, wait, wait...type...type...oh look i'm typing faster than the web will take it...oh i mistyped, delete delete (wait a second or three for the letters to disappear off the screen)...using firefox on windows by the way...and the fan on my laptop keeps ramping up...that's never happened on this website before...now it happens more and more...ok...rant ends...thanks for your time. -f
  4. this is what happened... cache is released while we were in the field...managed to open it in the new app...went there, couldn't find it...no hint, other things a little off, but bottom line we didn't find it...no biggie...at home we dnf'ed it and put a watch on it...standard stuff...next day we were in the field again and got an email for a "write note" the CO added...they said they had changed the difficulty and added a hint...ok...call it back up in the app and nothing's changed...still no hint and previous difficulty rating...called it up a few times over the next 40 min or so (as we were returning to the area from a ways away)...still original information...couldn't figure out how to refresh the data so we opened it in a phone browser to get the new hint and rating...so, thought we would report that...of course, if we just don't know how to refresh the cache page the way we were able to in the old app, then we'd appreciate it if someone let us know.
  5. after selecting several caches using the Advanced Search page, then clicking the Add n to a list button, i can't find the Ignore List in the list of lists...thought this might a quick way to ignore some silly caches, but i can't seem to do that...sure i have other ways of doing it, but this would have been VERY quick and desirable.
  6. What with the classic app being terminated, I thought I'd checked out the new app again...I deleted it months ago because it used up too much data and seemed clunky AND it ignored the ignore list...can't believe it STILL ignores my ignore list!...anyone use an app that is light on data and respects the ignore list?
  7. If I go into safari and type the following gcapp://GC68A0M safari seems to pass that to the geocaching app and open it without bother...so in the past, the website used to get the GC code from the coord.info URL, realize that the device was an iPod/iPhone/iwhatever and returned an URL redirect using the gcapp:// "url" ...then Groundspeak stopped doing it...it's not that it stopped working - the website stopped performing the redirect...and I see no reason why they couldn't start it up again...having said that, I've given up and moved to android...
  8. if the device gets a notification saying you have a new message, and then you click that notification to open the app to read and respond to the message, the app should open to the message section...it should not open on the map screen loading nearby geocaches (where you have to wait for it to finally figure out where you are, load a bunch of caches and display them thus allowing you to click the messages icon to go that part of the app)
  9. Moving to Android won't resolve the issue, as the same issue is happening in the Android app. In the Android app forum, a Lackey said that the issue with opening caches in the app would be fixed within the next few weeks. Hopefully they will be fixing the iPhone app at the same time. hmmm...ok...i have not updated any android app yet from the previous version (3.5.1) and i can say that in android, i'm still able to click on an email notification and have it fire up the geocaching app while in ios i suddenly wasn't able to (also not having updated the app yet)
  10. Notification emails no longer open the Classic app. I assumed it was just "one of those things" that happen by accident when people change stuff and would be fixed in a matter of hours. It has not been fixed. Fix this. Or I'll just have to move my mobile geocaching life to android. And maybe make these new apps respect the ignore list - because they don't - and they should.
  11. locally there's a cacher whose caches I refuse to do. the cache name is on every notification. if the co was also there, a simple gmail filter adjustment would send that notification to the trash and stop my phone from buzzing. sounds like paradise.
  12. Hi foam follower! Could you elaborate on why you think found count should be suppressible? Saying you found x caches doesn't violate your privacy and I see no other valid reason to not show it. Secondly, why do you feel the need to put your logs on the internet and at the same time not show the statistics associated with those logs? I just don't get what the big deal here is and I really want to understand. About the distance of your finds from home. There's a simple workaround, don't list your exact home coordinates, but some general nearby location. I very specifically avoided the use of the word privacy in my post. I certainly didn't say my privacy was being violated because that's a matter of legality and I don't read the TOUs anymore than most. TOU's are usually "do it our way or don't play" so why read them if you want to play. Lone R has summed up many of my issues quite nicely. Groundspeak has decided it is everyone's business where I've been. Groundspeak has decided it's everyone's business how many finds I've gotten. Groundspeak decided to plop up a big ol' statistics page - then Groundspeak decided I would be given the option of suppressing it (which I did). Now I'm wondering whether they could extend the same logic (whatever it was) which got them to that conclusion (ie. statistics were something I could decide to share or not) to other statistics (like how many caches I've found and a complete and concise dated history of my entire caching experience). As to CO's feeling differently about my DNF's over other DNF's solely because of how they rate my caching abilities by using my found count, I agree it's a positive for them and perhaps for others. Beyond that, the found count is just another statistic. It has no other benefit other than ranking. So maybe allow me the option of putting that number out there or not. Privacy is a hot issue of late. There are a lot of people vehemently arguing both sides of a word whose definition is amorphous at best. I prefer to present it this way - it would be a nice courtesy if Groundspeak allowed me to make some more decisions in regards to the information which i provided them in the course of playing this game. It's probably not my information anymore, but I did provide it - extend a courtesy - that's all.
  13. was this the right place to even post this? or is there a "tell Groundspeak what you think" link somewhere that i should have posted this on?
  14. You do have the option of not having anything show. Step one, don't log anything on your account. Step 2; that's it. If you don't want people to see something on the internet, don't put it there. oh my god you're so funny!
  15. I'd like the option/ability to suppress just about everything on the "public profile" page up to and including the total found count. I saw an old discussion about this which went back to 2009. That was only about total found count suppression (which is a good start), but I see no switch for that yet so I'm guessing the effort was unsuccessful. Thanks for listening.
  16. update...my 3 queries have finally run...if someone from Groundspeak jostled the drives, thanks very much...if not, then chalk this one up to "unusual". -follower
  17. i created 3 new pocket queries some time ago (an hour plus)...they have not generated...this is a nightly procedure for me and usually they generate in minutes...i thought i would mention it in case someone else is having troubles...could be nothing, or maybe a hard drive needs to be jostled. -follower
  18. deleted yesterday's pqs that never ran...created new ones today that did run quickly, so I guess this got fixed
  19. created 3 new pqs by copying previous pqs...set them to run today...i do the same thing most days...most of the time they generate within 2-3 minutes...it's been an hour now and they still haven't generated...just thought i'd mention it in case anyone else is experiencing a problem.
  20. is there anyway the geocaching app can stop listing things on my ignore list?...i live in the middle of "challenge cache" hell...i put them all on the ignore list but the app keeps showing them and it's now up to 3 pages of ? before anything else gets listed.
  21. is it just me or is the site down?
  22. wish i could make it go away.
  23. holey moley...i thought this would be fixed by now...i thought the geocaching admins tracked these forums...must be serious.
