  1. Same here. Site very slow to load - travel bug drop logs aren't taking either.
  2. I'm seeing a similar issue. You can possibly delete your logs and re-add them later?
  3. I'm just curious - what is the reasoning behind wanting to hide some souvenirs? I have no issue with users wanting to so. I'm just not understanding what the motivation to hide some would be?
  4. There seems to be a lack of positive feedback here. I think what you are doing is good. The site has a more modern look and I understand that with changes comes tweaks. I know the end goal is to create a smooth and welcoming interface for both old and new cachers alike. Keep up the good work and keep plugging ahead. I understand with change comes new bugs and I know you'll eventually work out the bugs. Hang tight and thanks for the work that you do to make this sport fun for us all. Happy Friday! Cache on!
  5. Thank you for taking time early and out of your Saturday to look into this and resolve it for us. Thanks for being so transparent about what the problem was and updating everyone. Thanks for the fix. Nice job. No the problem started after this thread was was posted. The OP looked into their crystal ball and knew there was going to be a problem. Thanks for at least acknowledging someone is paying attention. This has been going on for closer to 36 hours now and this is the first response from Groundspeak that I have seen. Hope it gets fixed soon. Server overload maybe? Thanks for not being too hard on me... I hadn't had my coffee yet. We traced the issues to one of our F5 BigIP LTMs. As you likely noticed, it wasn't routing traffic properly and was resulting in connection resets and the 502 Bad Gateway errors. Unfortunately, the health checks on the system didn't recognize the sub-optimal state of the primary unit and did not automatically failover to the standby unit. After manually failing over to the standby unit, the problems appear to be resolved. We're pulling logs and will be submitting them to F5 support for an investigation to determine why it was failing and what can be done to prevent it in the future. We're keeping a close eye, and hope we haven't impacted your ability to log #10in31.
  6. I've been experiencing it a lot today also. I've never experienced this on this site before but both on my home computer and from my office at work cache page links, and page content is frequently failing to load and then refresh loads the page. Using Windows 7 with Chrome both at home and at work.
  7. I know the unit provides the option in setup to tell the unit which type of battery you are using. Does anyone know if this plays a roll in battery life? If so, perhaps this would help?
  8. GCExplorer is already an approved application for GeoCaching and for sure other applications will follow. So you don't need to hack your tablet to do GeoCaching. Oh definitely agreed, just offering that up for someone who felt they were stuck not being able to run some software they want to be able to run.
  9. Hang tight on the Surface RT. It looks like some changes are on the horizon that'll let you run software other than approved Apps. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2023856/windows-rt-can-be-tweaked-to-run-desktop-apps-hacker-says.html
  10. In regards to it holding up to the elements and the weather - I keep mine hidden in an evergreen in a camouflaged pill bottle. The battery has only been replaced in it once since Oct. 2010. That was Feb. of this year and I simply did it because I was readjusting the final location - it could have probably gone longer. It's located in Michigan and we have plenty of days and nights here through the winter months with temperatures below freezing. It seems to hold up nicely. Oh the cache I'm referring to is here: http://coord.info/GC2G1WW -ClimbGuy
  11. With that new device you should be able to just plug in the USB cable to your computer and copy the Pocket Query file (.gpx) to a folder on the GPS itself. Likely Garmin/GPX/ Drop that file in there and then unplug the USB and power up the GPS. You should see your new caches. You shouldn't need to use easygps.
  12. Having the same issue here. My first time with a planned all day caching day in months and PQ's are down. DOH!!!!
  13. Same thing mid-day here Michigan as well. I tossed a tweet out on twitter about it and got back the same response from multiple Michigan cachers. "It's always slow on Sunday". Not sure? A maintenance cycle perhaps or simply just the day when everyone is most likely to sit down and login their information?
  14. Did you get a response back on this? I'm also curious.
  15. Same here. I requested some PQ's last night around 9pm EST. I have yet to receive any of them. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon?
  16. I came to the forum looking for some information on Geocaching with a Nuvi and this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! This page can do so much better than I can, complete with screen captures. http://geocaching.totaltechworld.com/ Edit : and for what it's worth, I'm using it on 64 bit Vista.
  17. Not yet but I've also only done about 3 cache finds with it since the upgrade. I'll be sure to post more if I can get it to do the same.
  18. Good morning! Now that Garmin has released a beta version of their Colorado and Oregon models that supports loading in your own geo-referenced images as maps (http://garmin.blogs.com/softwareupdates/2009/10/creating-and-using-garmin-custom-maps-in-five-easy-steps.html). Has anyone started a collection or place to upload maps for parks in Michigan? I'm new to it but it seems that once an image is referenced it could be shared rather than having each user need to redo the work on a map? Any thoughts?
  19. Used 2.95 on an Oregon 300 all day yesterday. 9:30am to 5pm. I had no trouble with the unit all day. Accuracy was good and I was locked on to 12 birds or so all day. 01 was visible at times but didn't seem to give me any issue this time.
  20. Went for a walk this evening. A little over 1 hour. The following satellites were visible: 01 13 14 16 20 23 29 30 31 32 44 Only 6 @ best were ever locked. Last I checked the locked ones were: 16 20 23 29 30 32. Seems the number of locked sats should be better than this. I just compared my track files from tonight to the one I recorded on the 2nd and there are several strange jumps. The one from the second was smooth as can be.
  21. I was using my Oregon just fine for the first part of the day. Working great actually! Then this afternoon it just zonked out. Went really poor for accuracy and only had a few satellites locked.
  22. Ran into the same problem today. GPS was fine earlier in the day. Later this afternoon it just zonked out in accuracy and only had a few satellites locked.
  23. Oh on that note I did figure out a work around for the issue. If your particular Wherigo stops displaying the tasks or any information on the screen press the Power button once to invoke the brightness adjustment screen. Then close the brightness adjustment screen. This seems to force a screen refresh in the Wherigo player and will redisplay your missing tasks list or other information. Hope that helps!
  24. Heard back from Garmin on the player version. Looks like they are hoping to release an updated version of the player once they get the Oregons most recent beta hammered out. Here is the message from Garmin: "Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I will be happy to assist you. I am sure the player version of the Where I Go feature will be updated, but we do not have an exact date or time frame of when this will happen. I am guessing once the beta software version is finalized it will include an update to the player as well. If you have any other questions please contact Garmin. With Best Regards, Gary H Product Support Specialist"
  25. Thanks for the information. I did contact the owner. The response was that he knows several people who have been able to run it just fine with a Colorado and simply suggested I complete the entire series without saving to avoid the problem. He indicated he thought it was a problem with the Oregon.
