Geocaching Organizations in Canada

This topic is to let you know about the regional geocaching organizations near you. These groups sponsor event caches and online forums where geocachers in the same area can get to know each other and share information. Geocaching organizations play a pivotal role in maintaining good relations with the land managers for the parks and forests where we play our game. Getting involved in your local group is a great way to make new friends and find answers to questions about the local caching scene.

It is up to representatives of the organizations to maintain this thread as a list of links to the Geocaching Groups in Canada. Please feel free to write a brief post about your geocaching group, giving its name, the area where most of its members live, and a link to the group's website, forums or mailing list. If your information changes later on, post a follow-up post.

Please do not use this pinned topic to promote individual events or initiatives that your group is undertaking. You can start separate topics for those. The moderating team may split out off topic posts into their own threads.

Finally, please note that this thread is not an endorsement by Groundspeak of any organization. It's just a convenient list of links.

You missed this one from the last list

Saskatchewan Geocaching Association A.K.A. SaskCachers

Our Link - www.skgeocaching.com

Our other link - www.saskcachers.com

Contact info can be found on the above site

This group covers everything within the borders of Saskatchewan.

- We are a non-profit organization with funds hopefully coming from donations :anitongue:

- We have a membership of over 100 that reside in every corner of the Province.

- We have planned or are planning events all over the Province.

- We embarked on an Interprovincial event cache with our friends from Manitoba that will be held early this June.

- We are looking at a CITO event this fall at a Prov. park as well.

- Our first Provincial Geocoin is in the works (design process is complete, just getting ready to mint and presale).

- We have an Executive of 4, and beginning to put some committees together for some avenues we are looking at.

Think that should about cover it.

We're in the process of redoing the MGA site, right now we've got a temp site up, that will be come the new permanent site. We just need to move the DNS over for the old site to the new site.

T/\G - Toronto Area Geocachers has launched now at http://torontogeocaching.com

This is a resource for cachers in the Greater Toronto Area, we have forums for discussion and will be reviving the GTA Geofriends events as T/\G events now. We have links to other area caching associations and will be adding resources to the site, including a Geocaching 101 section and Howtos as our organization grows.

This is also where the Ontario Trails Project, a free recreational trails map of Ontario (for your GPS) is hosted.

The link for the Kooteney Geocachers seems to be broken. Or maybe the site just doesn't exist anymore. Anyone have any info on this or an updated link?

Their site got hacked - dont think anyone replaced it. It is a dead-org

Capital City Cachers site is down. Message says "Bandwidth allotment is exceeded".

That happens during summer months, try back again August 1

Thanks I figured as much. I was just curious if my name was on the list of Ottawa area cachers since I found one of Valpor's (sp) caches

Throw it out there - I'd be more than willing to host the site free of charge if you guys are hitting bwidth cap constantly.

rjo@rynet.com if interested (any other association for that matter - if you are ever looking for a reliable host for your site and your requirements aren't excessive (i.e. your site doesn't suck bwidth and ram like a mad man :D) I'd be more than happy to help out)

Just thought I'd pipe up and say that the saskcachers site is no longer active. However a site for the Saskatoon and Area Geocaching Association has been recently created: SAGA

I've heard rumours that one is in the works for the Regina geocachers too.

Here is the NOG

Northern Ontario Geocachers

We are based in Sudbury but have members from all over the north

5 of us placed these 41 caches to create our Logo Stunt

Caches vary in Difficulty and Terrain.

We Can be found at nog.upnorthtracks.com

Come on up and try them out

No one has completed them in 1 day as of yet...

Sounds like this may be a good challenge...

I would like to introduce to you S.A.G.A. Home of the World`s Biggest Nickel. Sudbury Area Geocachers Association newest forum can be found at this link.

http://saga.forumotion.ca/

Please bear with us as this forum is only 2 days old and is still under construction, slowly I might add as I am not a computer wizard, but trying my best to develop a fun and informative forum. Please feel free to sign up and suggest helpful pointers to improve our forum. Any help I can get would be fantastic. Keep an eye out for S.A.G.A.`s debut event coming soon.
