+Turtlebug Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 We're 35, 40 and 9. That gives you an average of 28, though few of us act it! <grin>
+TheAdventureBhoys Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I'm 39, and the balance of Adventure Bhoys are 14,12,10,8 and 6. The honorary Adventure Ghirl is 12.

+maggieszoo Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I don't think I've replied to this one before. I am 40 (it just snuck up and smacked me in the head), hubby is 31. No kids, but the dog sometimes goes with me. She's 12.
+Snifferhound Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I'm 52 and just got started in this madness this fall. I had heard about it a few years ago, but thought that there wouldn't be many caches around. Boy, was I wrong! I got into it because I wanted a hobby that would get me a little exercise, and I hate to walk just for the sake of walking. I think I have hoofed it more miles in the last month than I have in the last 20 years!

+TheAlabamaRambler Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 The never-ending thread! Has anyone calculated an average age yet from these 570 posts?
+Lucky46 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 My wife and I met when we were both 5. Ran around together for 13 years. Went our own ways for the next 36 years, and have now been married for 6 years. You figure it out.

+Dakota Jim Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Calculated Average Age. Yes, I have spent much time keeping track of the age of each of the 570 posts. My calculation made me realize that there are several ages: internal and external. Internally, the average age is 11.57 years old. Externally is somewhat older, but really not worthy of calculation for its the internal age that is the one of value.
+Dakota Jim Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I suppose I should have added to my post that externally I am 73, but internally I am about 14. Its the internal that counts.
+Sierra Rat Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 If 35 - 50 is old, then I guess I must be dead. But at 61, I'm still walking around and geocaching.

+CajanCacheMan Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 43 here...My daughter is 5. Also got my sister hooked, age 41 and my dad, age 66. you're never to old to do anything, age is just a number, even geocaching at 51..
danoshimano Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 44 When I started caching I was 41, and when this thread started I was 43. Sometimes I am accompanied by my 41 year old bride. Now I'm 45.
Uberquandary Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 23, started when I was 19. On a related note, has anybody noticed that (almost) everybody with 3000+ finds is a graying man? My theory is that they're retired, get obnoxious around the house, and their wives kick them out and tell them to 'do something productive' rather than putz about the house.

+HaLiJuSaPa Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 (edited) Just staring at the responses (I'm somewhat of a Math wiz and really good at staring at a bunch of numbers and taking a decent guess at the average), I would say the average age is right around 40, but with a pretty wide "standard deviation", no major "cluster" around that mean. (Though it means that I and the other adult member of our crew are very very "normal" ). (I think we already posted, but since I don't want to go through 12 pages of entries nor look at my hundreds of entries, the answers are 39 (me), then 42, 6 and 4 (well, OK very very soon on the last 2). I guess almost a "dupe" of the previous poster Edited May 19, 2007 by HaLiJuSaPa
samsong Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 i am a very active newbe at 72 soon to go on first cach. any sug. as to the gps that is best?
+theninjageocacher Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I'm 13. I won't say my parents are really cachers, they just drive me around. It's tough when you can't drive, but sometimes I bike to a cahe with my brother and sister who are the same age as me. (yes, I'm a triplet.)
