  1. What it sounds like, is a cache he made just for storing other peoples travelbugs until he gets a chance to drop it somewhere else. If he has a lot of coins and travelers that he owns, other travelers can be hard to find in the list when getting ready to drop them. When he gets ready to drop it, it will be easier to pull it out of that "cache" that seek it out in a long list of travelers from his inventory.
  2. My husband and I have an enduring love for Geocaching! Our wedding was actually a Geocaching Event: http://coord.info/GC1FF4W I started in 2005 and he started shortly after that. We cache every chance we get and plan ALL our trips around caching. Even a trip to Mom's house can't be cache free. She knows that when we are coming down, to expect us to be at least an hour late. This coin would be perfect for us! Hope we win. Thanks for having another cointest! ~Sequoia_2 and Cajancacheman
  3. I have been working on this puzzle for a few years now. Have a little over 60 pieces. I handed out a lot of pieces at Geowoodstock VII. If you still have a piece you are working on, its not too late to send it back! (you may want to contact me via geocaching.com and make sure you have the correct mailing address to send the piece back, I moved a while back and some pieces might have my old address on the back) Remember, this puzzle is endless! I enjoy the patchwork design of the puzzle as it is pieced together. Here is a link of the pieces I have received back so far! And don't forget to log your find if you have discovered this since it does have a travel bug number attached to it! If you haven't done a piece for this puzzle and are interested, let me know. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8221...mp;l=3ce81a24ac
  4. We had our Wedding/Event on October 25th 2008. It was great. The GC # is GC1FF4W if anyone wants to check out the photos! Thank you Lion's Lair for the post about our event! We all had such fun and even had a cache hidden in the club house. there are pictures posted of the cache.
  5. 1. Participating: yes, email sent 2. Received Name yes!!! 3. Mission Complete package mailed!! it has a ways to go, it is going OVERSEAS! 4. Package Received! Yes! recieved my package Saturday. My poor camera is having issues...lens won't open after Lil' Tumbleweed dropped in on the floor, imagine that. Thank you for the great coins and the personal wooden nickle. I love collecting items that cachers leave to identify themselves. I have yet to be creative enough to make one. My daughter, Lil' Tumbleweed claimed the non-trackable coin for her collection but I told her we may need it someday if we come across a puzzle cache using this code. She tried to get the laptop coin, but I put a password on it. And the geocaching the appalachian coin is great. (someday I may get to walk part of that trail at some point) Thank you again so much!
  6. I make my pages at Village Photos You can create pages in html code with color and pictures then just copy and paste the code into your description box. usually only works in the long description, as the short doesnt' allow you too many characters.
  7. I like it. But what scared me the most was you driving on the wrong side of the road!
  8. I was seeking a multi once......It was near a lake and everything could be accessed by boat (if you had one). Walking was another matter. 1/2 mile down old railroad bed for 1st set of coordinates. Enter the set for the 2nd stage and find it is about 100 feet on the other side of where the railroad bridge USED TO BE. Ok, swim or go around to the other side. Hauling a bunch of kids answers that. So we walk back out the 1/2 mile, get in the car and go to the other parking lot. Oh! ANOTHER 1/2 mile walk! we walk down and search for the cache but are unable to find it. Kids are whining and tired and hot. We sit down under a tree to rest and then head back to the car. I go at another time alone and find second micro and the coords to the final. Imagine my surprise when I put the coords in and find myself at the tree we were resting under. The final cache was under the pinestraw behind us the whole time! It was fun though!
  9. Thanks so much for making this coin for us! We truly appreciate it and everyone is VERY pleased with their coins. They are SO nice. Your contribution toward our cause is truly remarkable and you will be blessed in everything you do! Thank you again!
  10. 1. Participating: yes, email sent 2. Received Name yes!!! 3. Mission Complete 4. Package Received!
  11. That really is a good charity! They do a lot of hard work too! We are modeling this years event (GC13ZD1) after last years (GCX2YM). All the cachers bring canned goods for the Second Harvest Food Bank, which is then split between Louisiana and Mississippi. All cash donations are for the animals. This year we are donating to the LA/SPCA and the Mississippi Animal Rescue League. The coins that are for sale on www.socalgeocoins.com all have a portion being donated to the animals also.
  12. I have pictures of the coin! This is just a pic of one of the coins. The others look the same but in different metals. They look very nice! I am excited about this. Never designed a coin before!
  13. 1. Participating: yes, email sent 2. Received Name 3. Mission Complete 4. Package Received!
  14. In Burlington, NC at an Army/Navy surplus I get the 30 cal cans for $2.50 and the 50 cal cans for $4.00. Check out some surplus stores, seems like the best place to find them cheap. I hit upon a GREAT deal not too long ago on Cabela's website. They had 50 cal. ammo cans for $2.50 each. I told a friend and he purchased 25 of them. Well, must be they only had 27, cause they sent him 2 extra at no charge and the item was removed from the inventory. Now everytime he comes down my way, he brings me ammo cans. I have 7 of them under my bed right now. And NO, you can not have the coordinates!
  15. Thanks for posting some extra information! I was tired and didn't put in enough info and links. There is only going to be a limited number of each coin made. I think all together, there will be 500 coins minted.
  16. Last year a few days before Christmas we were heading north to do some caching. We had the radio on and they mentioned on the news about 2 little boys that were lost, ages 4 and 9. We were just about to the exit and looked at each other. Caching or helping the search & rescue? The choice was easy. WE WENT CACHING! Just kidding! We got off at the next exit, found the resue team gathering site and into the woods we went. We searched for about 6 hours....people walking, helicopters, horseback. When we heard the signal the kids had been found, it was WONDERFUL! They had found an abandoned cabin and spent the night in there with the dogs and were found walking down the road by a sherrif deputy. I am so thankful everything turned out okay!
  17. I have been working with a coin company in California who agreed to make coins for our upcoming event. He will be shipping me 40 coins to be sold at the event that will be ONLY AVAILABLE AT The Event. They will be made of a special metal other than the ones you can purchase at his website. We decided to make the coin very simple and to the point. I hope everyone tries to either purchase a coin from the website or from me at the event. (remember, the coins I will have will be special. only 40 will be available.) You can view the coins at his site here: http://www.socalgeocoins.com/products.php?cat=1 The coin is available in antique copper, copper, nickle, black nickle and gold LE. If you will not be attending the event, you can purchase a coin through this link. ONLY THOSE ATTENDING THE EVENT WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE ONE OF 40 LIMITED EDITION COINS. I will have these coins at the event and the proceeds are to benefit the LA/SPCA (http://www.la-spca.org/) and the Mississippi Animal Rescue League (http://www.msarl.org/) These are also the charities that the coin company will be sending their part of the proceeds to in our name (The Louisiana and Mississippi Geocachers) The picture to the left under my name is the front of the coin.
  18. I too believe it all depends on the cacher. Some people are just hunters by nature. Or maybe they are too nervous to put one out there for everyone to judge. I love hiding caches. Right now, I am trying to NOT hide caches. Unless I come up with an extraordinary container. something that even my best friend in the world would never be able to find.
  19. This puzzle has been updated today and I have a lot of new pieces in now from cachers all over! To see it go here: http://www.myspace.com/geocacherpuzzle
  20. I too, found a cache quite by accident while seeking another cache. I was seeking GC1343, which I haven't found yet BTW. As I was walking around the trail to leave the park, I saw a can wedged in a tree a distance off the trail which I thought was strange. I just had to check it out. After I got to the tree, I noticed something sticking out of the pine straw and tree litter. It turned out to be a cache. Contents were completely eroded but a name and phone number were still visible on the inside of the lid. I called the number and asked for the person, but they never heard of the person. Very strange. I haven't been back to the area yet. Tried the above method to see if it was archived, but it doesn't show up. Next time I go back, will measure the distance from the other caches. And try to replace it and adopt it.
  21. A RED JEEP! My life long wish may come true, even if it is 1/64 scale!
  22. I have found that any pics that I post on a cache page automatically go into my gallery in my profile. Not sure if that is the answer you are seeking
  23. I have found the same thing. Maybe it is just that people who have a love of the outdoors and adventure are just truly nicer people all around. And if you love the outdoors you will take time to care for it. And caring for one thing leads to caring for everything else around you.....I am sure there may be curmudgeons in the midst but they must keep a low profile. Then again, there was SOMEONE who was actually HUNTING down caches here in Louisiana just to DESTROY them. Kinda sad, must of had too many DNF's and couldn't take it anymore.
