  1. Just like to let ya'll know the demo worked perfectly for me. I had no problems...well one.. it had me trying to access a state park through a locked gate! Granted I could have walked to the event from this gate, but we were less than 2 miles from the main entrance and made the quick adjustment and paid the 6 dollar vehicle use fee. stoopid NY state...charge me to drive in the park, but I f were walking or riding a bike...NOOOOOO. ok anyways Thanx for the help
  2. Well that would be the easy way...providing I had mapsource...which I do not. I watched a goo portion of the demo... I think that will work. Thanx! Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  3. Ok.. I have an older Garmin eTrex Legend (the blue one, no SD slot). I have not used the routes function. Is there something I can use where I can plot my route say on something like google earth marking all my turns with a waypoint and then getting them into the etrex? It seems plausible, but not sure what to use or even how to do it. The quicker the response the better. I would like this for a trip tomorrow AM. Thanx for any and all help Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  4. Hi all, my DW and I will be in Farmington from Nov9th thru the 12th. It's kind of a whirlwind trip to see long lost family. Any way there is no way I am coming across the coountry with out snaggin at least one cache so I can drop my TB's for milage. the mrs is not found of the game but will tolerate it enough for me to at least snag one for the profile. Anybody have one that will offer her a great view, but won't be very difficult to find? any way points will be considered. Heck I may even start a TB race back to New York...HMMM thanx for any info. Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  5. that's possible...but I was looking more for the mileage. My cache bag has the TB listed in my signature on it. the bag goes where I go. My oldest boys personal bug is on there too. The only reason I didn't snag a real cache near the earthcache was becasue Mrs FFof5 was with us and she doesn't like the game much. scott
  6. Because there is no physical container at an Earthcache. I don't buy that...there is no physical container at the old virtuals but you can still drop a bug. Check out the 6 old virtuals at Disney World in Orlando. this is Animal Kingdom (GC3334) Scott
  7. Thanx for the info... I guess we'll forgo this...kind stinks since it's about a 100 miles from home...ah wel..no biggie! thanx again Scott
  8. Is it safe to assume that you can not drop a TB in an Earthcache for mileage? What if I drop it into one that I did not find but is within a 1/2 mile of the earthcache? Any info would be appreciated Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  9. OK...thanx...found it.... Mach2003... I don't remember seeing it there...just the TB drop option... I checked a few times thinking I needed to write a note to psot my pic Scott
  10. either I'm blind or stoopid... why can't i find the spot to uplaos some pics from a cahe today?...can anyone point me in the right direction? thanx! Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  11. ok cool...thanx for the tips. Scott
  12. Haow can I drop a personal TB from cache to cache to track mileage? won't I keep adding excess miles if I keep retreiving it to my home coords? Any info would be great. Scott 1/5 of ffof5
  13. and update... as of today 3/26/2007 there has been no reply to my email (i honestly didn't think there would be, it's probably an alias mailbox at yahoo or hotmail since it didn't come back as undeliverable.) I guess they found a life? Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  14. wow what a response... so many different views... thanx to each and everyone of you for putting in your 2 cents.... (I'm up almost 48 cents!) As X said... mouthy kids just ruin my day... I am trying hard to instill in my children that it pays to be polite all the time and teach tolerance, but if something irks you go ahead and express your opinions.... you may get a rebuttal, but make sure you can back up your argument! MY email to the log poster was just my way of pointing out it's not fair to judge, Like I said, I don't like handball, but I don't ostracize those who play...just like ...OK here goes... Basketball... I hate the game... but guess what? my 3 year old at this point loves to play.... so do i discourage him? NOPE... i do my darnedest to show him what i do know and play with him.... again thanx everyone... Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  15. not sure either... I think it's the lack of caching... I'm going thru withdrawls ...noramlly i dont give a rats arse ...but it just got me .... oh well Scott
  16. Ok reading thru some logs today and checking out some possible searches that me and the boys can do after an Easter egg hunt next weekend I came across the following log.....(from 11/2006) here is the waypoint (GCQB9F) I just wanted to say... Who really does this? Do you all really have the time of your life doing this? I suppose you do... but... you guys really need lives. Here we are, finding geo caches for a class... but you guys are doing this for "Fun" OH GOSH I hope this helps you in the near future!!! Good DAY! I got a little steamed over it and i fired off an email...which is below.... in rebuttal to your comment in the logs of Hyde Parks first geocache...OK if you are in grade school or even Jr/Sr high school....are sitting around playing video games? or if you are a college student...are you are spending your money partying at the bars? It's not fair for me to judge you since, and here is my point, I DON'T KNOW YOU! why judge us? I happen to enjoy this with my 2 young sons, who LOVE the idea of a treasure hunt PLUS we get several benefits from geocaching... My children get to see the city where they were born in a more close up way, we also get exercise...it beats sitting in front of a the tube eating chips. Hey you don't like it, so don't do it...do what was necessary to pass your class and move on. I don't like handball, I'm not out complaining that those people need a life, since they do that for fun.... to quote you... I hope this helps you in the future. Scott Ferris I probably should have just ignored it, but i have not been out since January and i'm itching to go...so this just got me all fired up.... so I guess I just want to know....what would someone else have done? scott 1/5 of FFof5
  17. I recently went paperless... picked up a Palm Vx on eBay for 30.50 including shipping. I have 200 cache pages saved in it. Using Plucker. Cachemate and Cachelog for all. what a difference than having papers everywhere ... Only thing is I've used in once since i bought it(a month ago)it's been so darn cold my 2 boys ages 6 and 3 won't go out....But come next weekend they will not have a choice... going to Cleveland for a little family get away and there is a TB hotel in the parking lot of the hotel where we're staying...so I've got that PQ ready to run on Thursday and I'll dump them in my GPSr and the Palm...be good to go for the Cleveland area...no tree killing here! Scott
  18. we hand paint poker chips. depending on the time of year we will have a few for the event of the month...obviously we have the superbowl so I'll do one of them, then you have Daytona 500. let's see the Buffalo Sabres are doing really well tthis season so I've painted two chips for them 1 new (ugly) logo and I did the classic original logo. then ther are others that just ahve FFof5 on 1 side. Found It! with our zipcode on the other. Scott

I had a perfectly good day to cache alone last week and I couldn't do it... felt guilty that they weren't with me. i have sinced added my 7 year old nephew to the crew. He's going on his first event cache in May. It's our first too. Scott 1/5 of FFof5
  25. No other use? The games, what about the games? Hundreds of them available. Maybe thousands. I do all the driving so I can't play while traveling, I work with a computer all day( i play games on lunch and breaks), we have a Game Boy at home, PS2, several PC games, the portable DVD player has built in games AND I have games on my phone... I don't need no more stinking games!!!!! PS SABRES and BRUINS are playing in a couple of minutes...Anthem is on right now! Scott
