+knabino Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 35, 44, and 11. The 11 year old has as much fun at it as the 35 & 44 year olds . Took the almost 17 year old girl out with us once and she hated it.
The EAM Team Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 The EAM Team consists of me, M - 32, and the mites, E - 8, and A - 7. When I described the sport to E yesterday, his eyes got so big and he started yelling "I want to go NOW! NOW!" Not even out yet, and already addicted.

+mrodfamily Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I'm 38, and I occassionally have my father-in-law with me , he is 64 and we both love caching.
+Squirreleen Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 44 in a couple of weeks, spouse is 45. FIRST baby is 2. "They" told me I was considered a "geriatric" mother when I had the baby at age 42. HA! BTW: Daddy is intent on teaching the kid all the joys of building your own ham radios and such. Perhaps there is a nice second wave of geeks in the making.
ipplepen Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 My guess is that it is more popular with older people (35-50) than the younger folks... I could be wrong. Please don't misinterpret my age range, I'm not saying 35 to 50 is "being old"! I think your old when you stop moving!!! lol... by the way, I'll be 33 this month... Yep - I' m 40 too
IronMaiden Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Okay I have to update my age......... AARP just knocked on my door........ I'm 50 years old......... But I've been told I don't look it....... I guess that's a good thing
+DSine Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I am 30, hubby is 37 and the kids love it and they are 8 and almost 7, I have to put in the almost or she gets upset
CooeyMB Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 My age is 44 but I think my average age as a geocacher has to be about 36.
+Manimal N Button Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 34 and 24 here. And We too have noticed that cachers in our area tend to be 35-50 ish range or small (under 12) kids. But ya know what not to long ago knitting was concidered and old persons hobby and now its caught on with younger people so who cares how old you are if your having fun!
+hairball45 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I'll hit 61 on my next BD. Koilady, uh, well she's younger than I am . Our kid is 25 and can't imagine anything more boring or geekier than this game. She's never once accepted our offer of going caching.
+TrailGators Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 If 38 is the average then that means that I'm above average at 45!
+aviatrix22 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 let's see...I am posting now so I can say that I am 56...by the end of the month I won't be So I was born in 1949...that's MDCCCCXLIX....then subtract my #of caches from my birthdate IN ROMAN NUMERALS ONLY and you will get the corrdinates for my next geocache....making an age cache just for you all!
+sunrise searcher Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 My son, who will have a geocache id soon, has been geocaching in utero for the past two months, and he was born Thursday night just before midnight (making him basically 3 days old) . Tomorrow he will go with me to replace a cache that appears to have turned up MIA. His 3 year-old sister is excited about taking him geocaching with us for real. So, do I log all those finds he tagged along on for him, or does he have to start from scratch?
+His_little_lamb Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) I'm 36 today, but by Wednesday I'll be 37 Happy birthday early! Someone should make a birthday cache in your area. And to add to the ages. I'm 21 but look 15 :EDIT: LOL it helps to look at when the poster posted! They said that in 2005! Edited November 13, 2006 by His_little_lamb

+TheAlabamaRambler Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Hoot! Almost 500 responses! So at that milestone will the OP use these posts to derive an average age and answer the question? Of course then we'll only have the average age of the 500 responders. Still, it'd be an interesting thing to know... and even more interesting to see if anyone would really read 500 logs to get the numbers! Maybe just ask Groundspeak - aren't members birthdays part of the data they keep? They could answer this question (if modified to 'the average age of a Groundspeak-member geocacher') with a quick database query! Isn't Jeremy working on a demographics survey? Surely this stat will be in it, maybe even broken out by geographic area. Oh, and I am now a year older than when this question was asked! Anyone who has had a birthday since the OP must update their post! Ed
