  2. These geocache forums are just like FB/ppl are always gonna complain about something..
  3. We got two in our area that will litterly run over their mom on the highway to get a FTF//and the same two hasn't hid any caches since jan.2011,figure that one out..

  6. You can run your PQ'S thru Vantage point, which is a program by Magellian for their Explorist Models..
  7. check this site out,http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/supportedphones/#carrier=sprint and you can find one that is supported thru your carrier,I am on my third BB with Sprint and i use geo trimble all the time, one phone may work with one carrier and the same phone will not with other carriers..
  8. I got stopped two yrs ago for speeding in a small town in Louisiana and as soon as the policeman got out he saw our TB on the spare tire cover and we remembered meeting each other about 30 minutes one morn. at an event, neediless to say all he did was check my insurance and DL. and told me to slow down and let me go..
  9. You can also use Vantage Point a software program from Magellan,d/l the queries into the VP and transfer them from there..
  10. I would probably guess no hotels adv.MOST PPL start booking as soon as they find out where it is ever yr..we did ours 11 months in advance..
  11. We went to GWS 9 in Bellbuckle,Tn. and it was awesome, population of this town was about 500 ppl. and when gws arrived that one day there were over 5k ppl there, they have plenty of activities for children as well as cache hunts thru out the immediate area.if this is any indication they Warren,Pa. will be the same or better..
  12. SteveSpanglerScience.com they have a wide variety of them from small to large and I think they come in 20count bags, last ones I bought were like that.
  13. i don't see a thing in this Thread about using Vantage POINT from Magellian,go to their WS and DL the vantage point you can also use this,I find this alot quicker than PQ'S.
  14. We cache with hound dogs/just bought our second one, their names are Doxie and Roxie the Miniture Dacshunds.
  15. This is one Mans opinion on caching with a Smartphone,We use one all the time especially when we travel from town to town,2 yrs.ago we went up to N.Y and the two weeks we were gone i think we logged clos to 400 caches from my BB using trimble and very seldom have I had any problem with the cords.most of the time I find it to be within 15 ft.then again the weather has alot to do with signals, can say the same thing for our Magellian Explorist GC..Then again the brand of the smartphone may have alittle to do with it also.Theres been times that I have been in town anywhere and no signal what so ever, and then be out on the open road and have all kinds of signal.. I am on my second Blackberry and very pleased with the trimble I downloaded on it..
  16. I use the Magellan eXplorist GC and the battery we use is the Energizer ultimate lithium,we can cache for two days at approx. 8 hrs per day on a set, they are more expensive but you get what you pay for..
  17. I have 2 caches in NW La. right off Interstae 20 and they get hit alot and i don't bother checking the logs but three months ago several cacher from another state log both of them from a year ago and this raises a red flag with me so i go there and look at the log and i did not see their name on the log anywhere,so I guess some cachers like the numbers game logging them from home instead of actually going there and putting on a signature..when ppl have 10 to 15k caches and only been caching for 2 or 3 yrs, i can pretty much bet how they got all those logs.. This is my opinion!!
  18. We use an Explorist GC,bought it from Magellan right when they came out We were one of the first 100 to purchase,it is very accurate,we find caches in some heavy populated WMA that are full of trees and the GC are within 8-10 ft average/we use Vantage point to D/L and transfer caches, never had any problems out of either one,Vantage point quit working about three months after we DL it/i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and has been working since then,it is possible to get a bad one so i can't see hammering the makers of the Magellan like it is no good,i would return it to REI since that is where you purchased it.I felt the same way over a yr. ago with my Garmin 60 csx/so i decided to try the magellian and as of now i give it 5 stars.. Go Magellian.com and make sure your firmware is up to date.Thats my opinion.. Exploring the world one cache at a time..
  19. My Wife (Sequoia) showed me a program she uses and it works great,Thank for all the Suggestions..
  20. Is anyone else having trouble uploading photos to there profile, once I log a cache and am ready to upload the pics. I hit the upload and after about 20 to 30 sec. a error message pops up and carries me back to my profile page.at first I thought it was my new camera i just got for christmas was not set correct but i upload pics to FB all the time so it can't be the camera.then i thought it was the Laptop and my wife tried it also on the Desktop and it did the same thing to her,Any Suggestions??
  21. Check out the new Magellian Explorist GC,We haven't had any problems with our since day 1. GeoTrimble is a app. for finding caches as you travel thru,I use it all the time on my Blackberry.
  22. We own a Magellian Explorist GC,bought it the day they became advaliable approx. 7 months now and we haven't had any problems with ours, only setback I see is in the direct sunlight you can't see the screen unless you put your hand up around it and block sun, altho I had the same problem with my former Garmin 60 Csx.Cords with the GC are very close I would say within 6-8 ft.Its easy to navigate from screen to screen,it had a little so called joy stick sticking up it was hard at first getting use to it but after all this time its pretty easy to manovier now..its a breeze to transfer from GC.com to Vantage Point and vise versa..and best thing about it its paperless..that's my experience with mine..am completely satisfied..
  23. We use the Energizer Lithium which are very pricy but in the long run their worth it/ours last between 18-24 hours..
