  1. I interpret placement of items in a cache like I interpret the first amendment: Extreme cases that tromp upon common sense and decency aside, you're aloud to put in whatever you want. But if you're irresponsible, though, and put in a bunch of junk, you better be prepared for deal with the right of others to complain about it.
  2. To the OP who I notice has been absent since this thread turned into a full-fledged debate: I'm glad you're safe and that things didn't turn out much worse for you! Hope your ankle heals soon and they catch all the punks who were involved!
  3. Suddenly I have the image of a horse and buggy with a Garmin. "Turn ye left onto yon dirt road."
  4. Congratulations! I'm sure you'll start racking up the finds quickly.
  5. I graduated from Niagara University and have been meaning to get back up in that area for some geocaching. Once you're back from your trip, I'd love to hear a report of what you found! However, I am aware that there are a few caches in the Devil's Hole gorge area, which is right across from the university. I'm not sure how cool they are, but it might be worth a look. Not that far from the border on the American side.
  6. With the costs of GPS units, I tried to find my first geocache without using one, just to see what it was like. I found a spot I knew a cache was hidden--a small, local cemetery--and searched through it. I was more than halfway through and thought I might have missed it or it wasn't really there, but then I saw it. The rest is history; I bought a GPS a few days later!
