  2. In spanish, Via con Dios means to go with god, so as a play on words, Via con Ardillos means to go with squirrels, which is my nickname. so its all fun and everyone asks me what it means so its all good there. i will keep it
  3. Hi all, does anyone know of a link to a hydrocache, i was thinking of placing one but want to get some ideas for and how to do it. if you know anything it helps. thank you
  4. im at a 112 to 2 or 56 to 1 whichever you perfer. however i just got some new containers for xmas. so i should be able to boost my hides. YAAAY
  5. I am in the market for some firetacks to create some night caches around here and am wondering which color to get. i can get the diamond bright which is 20% brighter for 9.99 per 25 or i can get the stealth which would hide the tacks better in the day but then i have to add on 3 dollars. does anybody have any experience with them that could give me some advice. thanks a lot.
  6. Make them illegal, i like long hikes in the woods to find a small or a regular sized cache that actually holds something in it other than a log book.
  7. Hi, just reading around the forums tonight and notices some "firetacks" talk. i found out what they are and now i am curious as to how a cache with them would be set up. would you give them coords to the first tack and have them follow a trail by looking for the tacks with a flashlight that would eventually lead to the final cache. Any info would help. Thanks
  8. i figured it out, one of the settings was off, i switched it but i forgot switch it back. thanks for your help
  9. but even then, with the basemap, the navigation is in a straight line to the final point which follows no roads. the point of origin is still not where i am
  10. no i have united states topo loaded and the memory card is situated properly, its starting at a random point that is not even close to my position. this point is the same every time though
  11. I got a 60CSx for xmas and it is excellent. i have a question that i am not sure if it can be answered. when i try to do a follow road navigation, it dosent start where i am, it starts of at some random point every time. what do i do to fix this, if i can. thanks for any input.
  12. i found a letterbox while looking for one up at a state park up hizzle
  13. I own a geocache, Swamp Island II. it has one (1) log, and has been out since beginning of summer. i think that it gets so many hits because it is on an island and you need a boat to get to it. i think a lot of people around here dont have boats.
  14. I live in upstate ny and we get a fair amount of snow. i love snow caching because it combines a lot of things into one: -Snowshoeing/XC ski -Winter -Geocaching -Hot coco in the car afterwards One essential item is a pole or a nice sturdy poking stick if you dont have a metal detector.
  15. Ive been looking at a new gps unit for quite some time now and throughout my searches, it seems that ebay turns up some of the cheapest "new" units. however, a gps being a somewhat large investment for a senior in highschool, is it reccomended to buy one of ebay. a lot say "new" but i was wondering if there were any special tricks that one would have to look for in order to insure a safe buy? thanks a lot on any input.
  16. I agree with GeoBain. As long as they are not recieveing help from someone who has already done it. they could just be going out with a bunch of buddies. i dont see the harm in that.
  17. There is a tribute to the first one made and you can actually still see the bucket and original contents of the original one. the tribute is about 50 ft away from the orig. i think that the oldest still running one is GC30.
  18. On our lunch at school i used to go out to get a cache a day in town. however now i have found all the caches that are within the 42 minuite lunch period that i have. but it was fun while it lasted.
  19. I went out to lunch at school for a few days to do a cache each day and had to drive a little faster on the way back to make the bell. luckily our next teacher didnt care. its all good though, its fun to escape from the prision that is our school and get out and about for 45 mins.
  20. i was in your boat once and i really wanted a custom button left behind by a player. however i had nothing to trade so i had to go with my morals and leave it behind. it was tough but i made it. o well i learned my lesson. always have something to trade.
  21. i havnt been a geocacher for too long but i have seen some pretty intresting geocache containers. for instance an altoids can with a magnet on the inside. what are some of the more intresting ones youve seen and liked. i think its always fun to see custom made containers, a nice diversion from the ever so popular ammo box.
  22. When i palced my cache Swamp Island and Swamp Island II, i visited the site three times before placing the actual cache. i had to find the right spot on the island and then find the right log to put the first part of the multi on. Also, with another cache i plan to place as soon as i get another amo box, i have scouted out the spot several times in the winter as well as this fall.
