OpinioNate
After several feature-heavy releases it was time to circle back and fix some bugs. With the help of geocachers providing feedback on User Voice we identified some high-visibility issues and did a little house cleaning. This also gave us time to monitor site performance and plan for future feature enhancements. The Beta Maps introduced before the winter holidays continue to perform well under load. Soon we'll begin more closely integrating them into the rest of the site, as well as add a few more tools to make them even more useful. Thank you for all the feedback so far! Geocaching Videos For over a year the Groundspeak video crew has traveled far and wide to create dozens of entertaining and engaging videos. Check out the new videos page, share it with friends, and go geocaching vicariously while the boss isn't looking*. Where did the benchmark link go? If you're looking for the benchmark navigation link, fear not. It's been repositioned in the footer of every page. All links to nearby benchmarks on cache pages remain, and the stats appear in your profile as always. Introduction to Geocaching Presentation Groundspeak's Introduction to Geocaching is a PowerPoint presentation designed to teach first timers about geocaching. It explains geocaching basics, including what's in a cache, cache types, Trackables and more. If you wish, you can co-brand the presentation by adding your organization or company logo in the white rectangle at the bottom of each slide. Download the presentation package here. OpinioNate
Are site updates now every 6 weeks? I thought up until Nov or Dec 2010 it was monthly... It really depends on how much we undertake in a single release cycle. We shoot for monthly updates but occasionally have to throw in an extra week or two to account for bigger projects or surprises (and I don't mean the oh-look-you-got-me-flowers kind of surprise ). Refreshed but still in Seattle. When I click on this link to the "old" maps it takes me to Seattle, despite the fact I have a home location set. When I click this link to the "beta" maps I get a map of my home location. However, and here is where joshism is having a problem, if you first go to the "old" maps, and get Seattle, then click on the "View the new Maps Beta!" link, you're going to get Seattle, because the link is designed to show the same area as you're already viewing. +GrateBear
The map is really shaping up nicely. I was just moseying around with the beta and noticed a bit of a problem. There's an area nearby where I've done some hiking and found a few caches. I plan to go back for the rest, and in comparing the new and old maps, noticed that there are a few active caches on the old map that do not show up on the new map. Even zoomed in all the way they didn't show up. One of the missing caches is GC2F7QZ, should you want to check it out. Link to comment

+Dunes Dude
I love the speed of the Beta Map compared to the standard. But will you eventually add all the links on the left of the standard map to the beta map? Of course if one thinks of the Beta Map as just one of those links I guess it is really not an issue is it? I also love the fact that the Beta Map opens to my home location! Nice job! Guess I will have to pay my dues to support this fine work!! Link to comment
+popokiiti
I have noticed on the Beta Maps, even when I have my finds displayed, that some caches I have already found do not show as such. Is this because the new map is still a work in progress? Images - thanks for working on them! Is the site now resizing again, as it used to, or is there a maximum size we should be aware of? Thanks....and I'll be checking the videos soon! Link to comment

+monsterbox
Hi! I really appreciate all your work you're doing and I'm really happy that you did a bux fixing update this time but there are still a few issues and glitches I'd like to get fixed somewhen in the next future ;-) 1. Formatting of the cache description in print mode: Example: GC2PTQZ! Nicely formatted and easily to read online but after being printed it's just one single block of text really hard to read. And as far as I have seen this also is true for the GPX file sent to my Garmin. 2. Category for Letterboxes on the beta map: Letterboxes have been put into the green category but I'd like to see them more in the blue one. At least as we in Germany do handle them they are more like a puzzle or multi and only sometimes like a traditional. 3. Notifications: Why do I need to set up a single notification for every type of cache? It would be way more convenient if I'd had checkboxes for every type like I do have with PQs. This would cut down the number of notifications to ~2-3 for me instead of 15 I do have set up now. Thanks a lot! Bye, Christian Link to comment

+Olddffart
Have been looking around the Beta maps and so far I generally like what I see. Some comments:- 1. I do miss the list of visible caches as on the RH side of the old maps. Very useful to pinpoint caches in a given area, particularly as it is sorted by GC number (old to new). 2. The personalization (My finds & hides.) still quits working after about 10 or 15 minutes. You must do a page reload to get it to work again. The same thing as happens on the old maps. 3. Would really like to see some sort of measuring tool, possibly similar to the "Ruler" tool in Google Earth. To be able to measure directly how long a hike it is to a cache, or even just how far off the road a cache is, would be a very good thing for planning your day. - Keep up the good work - much appreciated. The icon prints on "printer-friendly" pages, but not if you just print the cache page. Really glad the broken geocoin activation retrieval link is finally fixed!! Thanks GS for all the hard work.
