Somehow, I see an uncanny resemblance of the "GeoCache" logo to another logo I've seen somewhere . . . maybe there should be some guidelines . . .

Different shades of all the colors, with the GC logo using orange instead of red.

 

Recently, Intel changed the color of their "Centrino" logo so that the color is more purple and less magenta. It seems another company complained that magenta was their trademark color.

Looks like I should stretch the dog a bit to fill the GPS window completely. it gets a bit hard to see when shrunk to avatar size. I'm on a business trip for a few days so I'll get to it later this week.

Here's what I came up with. Nothing great, but it's what I thought of when I read your discription. I can change the hair color if you're not a blonde. That is of course, if you like it. I had to basically freehand the GPS, because I don't know where to get an image of a cartoon Garmin Legend. Maybe someone else could add a better GPS. Other than that, I think I did alright with what little skills I have. I hope you like it.

Hi

My 12 year old son has become a cache-aholic.

He chose the username Reel Rider because he adores roller coasters (he rides the "reels"). He is finishing up elementary school on Thursday, and ..... it would be cool to have some clever avatar to as a surprise to present to him on thursday.

He uses the GPS that he, his sister, and dad gave me as a mother's day present.... it is a magellan sportrak map.

I would love you guys forever if you could come up with something.

NOTE: This brings up a good point.....I will now give all avatars that I put a gray back ground on to match the forums a white background as well for sig items and other uses. If you are posting avatars as well....please follow this protocal. If the forums ever change color....everyone would be screwed if we did not do this.

I am male

My geocaching tag rusty_tlc = rusty toyota land cruiser. I drive a 1975 toyota FJ40 land cruiser that looks like it is abandoned when I'm on the road.

I would love a cartoon FJ40 (top off) to use as an avatar. I picture something like the cars in the Chevron commercials, headlight eyes and stuff? Really big chunky tires, roll cage, maybe a few rocks flying. And it must be green. Not yellow.

Here's the avatar that we use for Geocaching...

 

 

We like the fact that the edited "J" and "f" are symmetric, and are within a circle... but we've always thought it kind of bland. TeamJiffy consists of Fy (female) and Jif (male).

 

Any ideas for a better one? (Hope, hope, hope!!)

No - I started with Mustard Devils current avatar.

 

Created a vector drawing based on the image. (not by ray-tracing - by mouse)

 

Added tail from scratch.

 

Got face and arms from a second clip art (created vectors again)

 

Pieced together with other objects.

Moved the MD crest lower on mustard bottle.

 

I use vector objects for all items, so I can move them in relation to each other, and get the same colour into each piece. Than when done manipulating, I export to a jpg.

I don't care what I have for an avatar...I just want one better than the one I have. It was just a piece of clipart that I tried to add to and it didn't work. I tried to change the pebbles to geocaching colours but they turned out terrible.

 

Capjap is a combination of initials...my husband and mine...only he hasn't come out with me even once. I own a Magellan Meridian yellow. I am CANADIAN!!!! I coach boys basketball.

OK. I get it now....

 

All you really need to do is read my profile page to get some clues. The name "Snoogans" is a made up word that means "I'm kidding." (If you're not into Kevin Smith's movies then you wouldn't understand the usage.) All the geocachers I've met say it suits me and I've even been verbed by the locals. As in "I've been Snooganed." (Don't ASK what that means. You would have to have met me at an event or been to a few of my caches to get the true meaning.)

 

If this helps; When I sign a log, I use the O's in Snoogans for the eyes of a smilie with it's tongue hanging out. Kinda like: , but with the tongue hanging to the left side. Just one face instead of the two in my forum sig. Thanks,

I've finally decided to make my own avatar instead of using cover art. My guestion is, what does everyone like better. White stroke or no white stroke? I kind of like it without the stroke, but it gets hard to make out the wolf when it's resized.

Please, please please do me. So to answer your questions, I am female, but name is plural cause my husband likes to come along. I wear many hats including firefighting, and paramedic. I have tried to make an ambulance or some kind of Steve Berry type medic looking for the patient with a gps, something just a little different but nothing looks good shrunk down.

If GUUF has their toes against the line of derived work of the geocaching.com logo (and remember, TPTB have already gently reminded us that doing so is prohibited) do you really think this one falls any further from the line?

 

Don't get me wrong, I really dig the artwork and I'm impressed by the creative types, but there are at least two components of that image that are taunting the intellectual property copyrighted by others.

 

Do I really think that Fox (or Groenig or whoever owns that) will come raid your computer for using the Simpsons logo in a forum? Probably not. But we should all be careful to avoid using the unlicensed IP of others.
