  1. That is a keepsake for sure. I cannot believe someone kept that awful picture!! You sure get big points for creativity!
  2. I loved the photos. And really did want to go back and feed it or at least make sure the mother was around. Of course I know feeding it would not be a good idea. But Brian first assured me the mother would be nearby.
  3. This is terribly sad. What a awful thing this is for such a wonderful family. My prayers are with Liz and the girls for this very difficult time. If anyone finds out when the funeral will be I hope they post it. I will if I find out so that those of us close by can attend and give Helmut's family support.
  4. Of course keeping the cache dry is a major issue. I've seen caches where a waterproof tag was hidden underwater with coordinates for a container on dry land. Its a good way to avoid dealing with a wet cache and logbook. An issue I've found, at least in my area, is finding a place where its legal to swim, yet safe from non- geocachers. Around here anyplace where swimming is allowed tends to be very crowded when its warm enough to swim.
  5. All units lose sat locks from time to time. For it to be happening under moderate or no tree cover, somthing is wrong. Consider doing a hard reset and see if that fixes things. I'm sure someone here will chime in with the hard reset instructions for the 76S.
  6. Thanks everyone! Nice of all you faster cachers to give congrats. At this rate i will be retired by the time I get to 700. I am a bit slow in even getting in to read the forums. But the fun of it for us is hiding and hiking and a leisurely find here and there.
  7. I have found assorted candy and a gatorade lid in some caches lately. I take out the offending items, but sometimes the animal damage is done. I am thinking of using the babywipes I carry to clean out the cache container when there is a sticky mess left behind. I am also wondering if I should start adding a statement to each log or top of cache container lid "PLEASE no FOOD, candy, drinks". Or something to that effect. Some items seemed to just be trash that the owner was cleaning from thier pockects.
  8. I have one to add. Taking a brand new Where's George stamp ($9) AND a small waterproof dry box ($7) and leaving a travel bug.
  9. Thanks everyone! When Brian told me there was something I needed to read in the forum, I did not know what it would be. So this was another nice surprise. And since it has taken me about 3 years to get 100 finds- it sure is a good thing I am a better as a wife than a geocacher!
  10. I'd like one if you have the time. I'm female, and like skiing. I have a Gecko and I'm married to BrianSnat. My current avatar is a photo of my letterboxing stamp.- Skigirl43
  11. Looks like georapper is up to some funny business with his placement dates.
  12. Thanks Jeremy- I really do not know what that was about. And a big thanks to briansnat for helping me scan in my avitar.
  13. An elderly man walks into a confessional and says, "Father, I'm 95 years old and have been married 70 years to a loving wife and I have wonderful family. But yesterday, I met 3 beautiful college girls in the park and they took me back to their dorm and we had wild sex all afternoon" The priest says "You've been a good Catholic all your life, so God will forgive you". The old man says "But I'm not Catholic, I'm Jewish" "Well then why are you here telling me this?" asked the priest. "Heck, I'm telling everyone!"

  15. quote:s for Solohiker, maybe it's time to find a cache up on top of a mountain somewhere. A good one, that takes half a days worth of hard climbing to get to. Once you get there, huffing, puffing, heart pounding from both the exertion and the view, none of this will matter anymore. Nothing like a good outdoor adventure to put the world all back into perspective And hopefully he will stay there.
  16. quote: I had wondered if some mapping software on home ps would accept waypoints to allow some minor strategy to attack 10-30 metro caches. It sure does. National Geographic Topo, Garmin Mapsource and DeLorme will all do this.
  17. quote:I don't like the antenna in the e-trex series....go for Magellans Meridian gold....or the Sportrac Pro.... Both have excellant antennas.....you won't be sorry. What's wrong with the eTrex's antenna? I think that it works great and outperforms the quad helix in some situations.
  18. The caches I've found in plastic bags, the bags are either shredded and useless, or wet, slimy and disgusting. Spend a few dollars for a decent waterproof container and you don't need the bag.
  19. Maybe a lot of you are a lot easier going than me, but if my car, home, whatever was broken into, I'd feel violated. Forget about it and call the insurance company? Easy to say, but I know it would really bother me. I'm sorry but the "punish the guilty, but let it go" philisophy doesn't do it for me. I'd rather find the person and hang them up by their thumbs...but that's just me.
