Tenniskid
Wow, just from watching the news the past few days, This storm coming through is a very big one for our area! Portland, Salem, Eugene, Seattle, Olympia, darn near the whole state! We've got about 5" today in centeral Washington which makes me wonder about the mountain passes. Hopefully they arent bad, for people goin to Olympia for the cache machine. Just make sure to give yourself a few extra mins to get where ur going. The last thing we need is a wreck or something worse. Hopefully this doesnt put a damper on the CACHE machine! Quote Link to comment
Lazyboy & Mitey Mite
We had about a foot of snow here above the Rogue Valley in southern oregon yesterday but last night it got warm and turned to hard rain. Here's a camshot of I-5 at the Siskiyou Summit Quote Link to comment
travisl
And here's an almost live photo of cache machine stop number 34 (Bear's Den GCHC16). Today. It's showing snow. (Well, it was working a few minutes ago...) Quote Link to comment
Pepper
Travis what DOTcam would that be? Pepper Quote Link to comment

Solar Max
Well, I'm looking out the window, still no snow. Your Olympia correspondent. Quote Link to comment
leatherman
My friend and I got stuck on SR2 for two hours, coming back from skiing. Someone in front of us said it was a five car pile up. We only saw three come by us. Two were definitely a head on. Quote Link to comment
Solar Max
"The proud owner of a Meridian Platinum. The Ultimate all around, high memory, auto-routing GPSr on the market!" Leatherman, you are absolutely correct. It is. I have one too...and it's still not snowing Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
It's coming down fast and furious in the Kirkland Totem Lake area. 1/2 inch has stayed on the ground since it started. Quote Link to comment
DustyJacket
Sounds tough. Today in MO we got up to 60 degrees. I had to take my jacket off while caching. Quote Link to comment
astheravenflies
Nothing in Edmonds. Otherwise, no snow ... yet. Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
I knew there was a reason why I didn't want to go satellite tv. I just lost the satellite signal. The dish is too high up tonight for a sweep off so that'll have to wait till tomorrow. Maybe I should consider a new location for it so I can get to it easier. Quote Link to comment
DenaliNW
Lots of snow in Portland today. At least 5 inches on my deck out back. If the forecast holds true Saturday could again be messy. Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
We had snow, hail, and lightning. A rather interesting combitation. The weather is snow for the next two weeks. Quote Link to comment
Solar Max
This morning at about 5:54 AM, it's cloudy and 34 here in Olympia. ( Temp according to my car's outside temp sensor. ) Nice caching weather. Maybe I'll finally be able to find one or two today. Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
We picked up an additional 2 inches on our hill. Looking at the clear landscape on the webcams around us, a mere 60 feet altitude makes all the difference. Quote Link to comment
Pepper
I am coverd with snow as far as I can see. Took a trip to 7-11 (148 & 51) this morning for Cigs and what a mess the roads were frozen over and the traffic was just crawling. Pepper Quote Link to comment
Right Wing Wacko
I was watching the morning news and from what they were describing thw world was coming to an end! I delayed my trip to work by an hour and what did I discover? The roads were bare and nobody was driving on them! It should be fun tomorrow at the OCM! I'll be bringing the 4x4! Quote Link to comment
Turtletrax
My bags were packed, the GPS was loaded, and the tank was full, but that pesky snow (10 inches here) seems to be a problem. If it doesn't melt in the next 90 minutes, I'll have to change my plans of attending. Right now I think my odds are about 99:1. Hope you all have a great time! Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
A new snow advisory is out to expect 1-2 inches more tonight through tomorrow morning. Quote Link to comment
Lazyboy & Mitey Mite
We got about a foot of snow overnight and then the sun came out awhile today. Reduced it by half. Now they say a big storm tomorrow. Oh well. Quote Link to comment
astheravenflies
Western Washington Tuesday forecast is for a potential snow storm that could match the 1996 post Xmas storm. That is, if everything lines up as expected. Quote Link to comment

CachinCin
10:30am, Redmond (WA): it is snowing here. It's not those fat, lazy flakes from before. Instead, it's the small flakes -- the kind that come down when it's cold and there's a storm system hanging out. The wind has also started blowing, so the flakes are not drifting down in any sort of friendly fashion. The snow is falling on top of the sleet from last night. Poor Aurie went outside on the deck and took a bit of a tumble down the icy wooden steps. It sure is pretty, though. Maybe it's time to start a fire and brew up some hot cocoa. +TotemLake
So how's everybody doing? We barely have anything here in the Kingsgate area @ 0800. Quote Link to comment
leatherman
Boring! The Media left is making a big deal about this. I have a light dusting only. I don't see the reason for the hype. It's supposed to be worse than the '96 storm. Whatever! Wake me up when it's over. Blah, blah........ Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
We're thinking it's too cold to get any real good snowfall. As the warm system works its way in you'll probably see some good snow before it warms up too much and then start raining. Whatever. There seem to be enough imports out trying to drive in it and don't realize the black ice problems they will be running into. It looks like a good day to stay off the road for the time being. No sense in being their target. Edited to add we finally see some snow on the ground, but it amounts to less than 1/4 inch. Edited January 6, 2004 by TotemLake Quote Link to comment
slinger91
Here in RAINmond...I mean Raymond, we have about 10 inches and still falling. The kids are very happy. Quote Link to comment

astheravenflies
Already 1" - 2" on the ground and its still coming. Edmonds schools are closed and the boys are home and chomping at the bit to go out. I'm working ("telecommuting") at home. On my "break" I'll do a ski tour of the neighborhood. Wife is staying home from work, too. Coverage overload on the local news. Quote Link to comment
leatherman
Just under an inch in Monroe. Yawn..... Quote Link to comment
Criminal
McChord is getting buried. I still have to drive home over the bridge....... Edited January 6, 2004 by Criminal Quote Link to comment
Wander Lost
We have about 3 inches on the deck right now but the major front is just hitting. I decided to be a weather wuss today and stayed home today. Agree, the local media is out of control. Quote Link to comment
DenaliNW
5 inches in Vancouver, and still lightly falling. Quote Link to comment
CachinCin
We have about 1.5 inches at my house in Redmond, but they've been saying that the eastside suburbs won't get as much as Seattle and other parts of the Puget Sound. The snow is coming down heavier right now than it was before, so maybe we'll get a good layer of the white stuff. Aurie and I walked down to Lake Sammamish -- what a beautiful sight that was! It's quite windy off the water, so the snow is swirling and there are white caps on the waves. The park, which is usually empty at this time of the year, was full of people with dogs. The sidestreets are full of kids with sleds. Cin Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
In the last 15 minutes I watched the snow depth go from 2 inches to 3 inches. Quote Link to comment
Stump
We only got an inch or 2 of snow but we have snow drifts! I don't recall ever seeing them in western washington before. Parts of our yard have almost no snow and then against our house we have over a foot. Very dry snow/ice with a lot of wind last night! Hard to tell last night when it was snowing and when it was just the wind moving snow around. Quote Link to comment
travisl
There's probably about five inches here in Federal Way. It's a weird kind of snow, with elongated dagger shaped crystal flakes. Very cool. I love driving in this stuff, and love walking in this stuff. Which left me no other choice than to log this cache today. You know something's terribly wrong with the world when I can find a cache in five inches of snow without a GPS. Quote Link to comment
EraSeek
Thank Goodness I have the day off! Just horsing around in North Creek. Quote Link to comment

TotemLake
Whatta cutie! We got 4 inches here all told. Quote Link to comment
hydnsek
We got at least 4 inches here in Newcastle, as well. I live on the perfect sledding hill - downhill cul de sac - and everyone's been outside sledding. Then I strapped on my XC gear and skied around the neighborhood. Fun! Of course, I'm supposed to be working....but can't get a network connection; everyone else from MS stayed home too and the RAS servers are maxed out. Sleighbells ring, are ya listenin'.... +Capitalpete
My backyard this morning. The yard nome looks pretty lonely. So THAT is where our garden Gnome got to! Get him out of the snow before he catches a death of a cold! Nice and warm here, wearing shorts too! But outside it is cold and snowing,,, this sucks. Quote Link to comment
ironman114
I don't have any pics but there was 10 inches at Chehalis today and I hiked for 2 miles in and back out. But there were no caches where I was. I did pass by three of them on the way home, I'll get them another day. I'm tired. Quote Link to comment
Peanuthead
Hang on People, I really think the worst is yet to come. I am refering to Freezing Rain, especially in the Portland, OR area. Trees and Power Lines can only withstand so much ice buildup, and then bad things start to happen. The forecast looks grim. I hope I am wrong, but I am fearing widespread power outages and property damage from falling limbs and trees. Edited January 7, 2004 by Peanuthead Quote Link to comment
