  1. Has anyone heard anything about geocaching.com coming out with an app similar to the one available for the iPhone?
  2. Wow! Your generous gift is greatly appreciated. Thank you for the beautiful present. It's a spectacular looking design. I think that this one will be registered but won't travel, as it will become a permanent part of my collection. Thank you again. Jim
  3. That comes from the confidence of knowing that you have a good product and can laugh at yourself! My Garmin has kept me in contact with the Earth ever since I got it - haven't ended up on the wrong planet yet!!!
  4. Don't know what it is, but it's nice that someone would recognize all of you who served your country. Thank you all for your service - our country depends on those like you who are willing to sacrifice part of your lives to make the world a better place. I only wish that the bleeding hearts could see a fraction of what you people have seen, and they might understand why you do what you do. Someone smart said "For those who have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know." Jim MSgt, USAF Ret. Survival, Evasion, Resistance, & Escape Instructor
  5. Some of you are looking at this forum, and thinking "Oh yeah, now THAT will slow him down." What you forget about is nighttime feedings, running 'to the store' for diapers and such, and using the Kavuday method of rocking a baby to sleep. You know that Jon just lays in bed at night wishing that he could get out and do another cache, but Shawna makes him stay home after midnight. Now, Jon will be telling her "Hey, since I'm up anyway..." And then he will be volunteering to make a late night run to the store for necessary supplies, choosing a new route every time, right past the latest cache. When he finds out that Kavuday packs up the kids for a car ride when they can't sleep, he will have another excuse. And when he finds out how Kavuday uses his added resources to grab caches that would otherwise seem impossible, look out. Congratulations to you both, hope you're getting some sleep.
  6. Sorry I didn't get into this earlier, but I wanted to complain about the design. I think that Eastern Washington was unfairly represented here. Since that is obviously Salmo Peak in the background, and the Spokane River running through the center, with the hiker standing atop Steptoe Butte, I think showing the trees from the Kaniksu National Forest is going too far! Sure, I suppose that occasionally one of the eagles from over here gets a little disoriented and wanders off in a westerly direction, but I think that there ought to be something on the coin that shows that we at least considered the less desirable parts of the state, not highlighting just the east side. Other than that, I like it!
  7. Okay Jon, it's been two weeks, where are the goods? Are you holding out on us? We can't wait to see the final product.
  8. Jon - I blew the picture way up, and I saw what looks like some empty Keystone Light cans up there on Mt Roothan. What's up with that?
  9. You should consider emailing the support folks at Garmin - when I had a problem with mine, I emailed them and they gave me info on sending it in for repair. While mine was still under warrantee, it doesn't hurt to ask. Believe me, 300 caches on an Etrex is way to young to cache it in!
  10. Wow! 70-75 people showed up just to see Wiz drink some beer and tell a few tall tales. Actually, everyone had a good time and there was overwhelming support for an Inland Empire Chapter of the WSGA. By my count, 20 people are interesting in joining the WSGA, and over 40 people wnat to participate in clinics and seminars. Hey, five people actually volunteered to be officers!!! We are going to shoot for forming our chapter and meeting during March so we can plan our Cache in - Trash out event for April. Everyone is welcome, and we don't even discriminate against Idahoans. - Okay, maybe Niskibum, but everyone else is welcome! Thanks to the WSGA Officers and Members who made the long trip over for the meeting. Now, about those door prizes....
  11. My bags were packed, the GPS was loaded, and the tank was full, but that pesky snow (10 inches here) seems to be a problem. If it doesn't melt in the next 90 minutes, I'll have to change my plans of attending. Right now I think my odds are about 99:1. Hope you all have a great time!
  12. I look at it this way: 1. Is there guidance allowing *temporary* caches: Yup! 2. Is there guidance prohibiting the approval of *temporary* caches: Yup again!! 3. Does everyone involved believe that they are correct: Definitely! 4. Do we all need better guiidelines: Oh, yeah! 5. Is this discourse preventing us from getting out and playing: Yup. 6. Should we all try to avoid taking this personally: Yeah, baby! 7. Is this worth quitting Geocaching over: NO! 8. Ain't ya glad we live in a country where we can get caught up in a lively debate over hiding a microcapsule, and not have to worry about governmental controls and intrusions. 9. Thanks to all the admins - if we don't police ourselves, someone else will try to do it for us.
  13. Can't you just picture it - the George, Washington Cache Machine! We could hit George, then Royal City, then all the caches in Quincy, then cap it off with the caches in Vantage. Then dinner at Martha's Inn and finish off with a concert at the Gorge! We could rack up six, eight, maybe even 10 caches in one day.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Renegade Knight: I'd also like to be notified when a cache in my home radius is archived so I can see why and take it out of my GPS so I don't go there and find what's not there. I'd like a feature that shreds the printout that I made the day before the cache was archived!
  15. Looks like they've got a bottle of Cutty Sark to place into the cache as a trade item. I prefer small, unbreakable trinkets, but they sure seem determined!
