+lordelph Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 For anyone that missed the topic which gave rise to this effort, here's the details If you've got an up to date Firefox and Greasemonkey installation, then right click here and choose "Install User Script" When you refresh the topic listing, you'll find a neat little "x" icon next to the topic title. Click it to instantly make a topic go away! The script will remember up to 100 topics you don't like (with the oldest ones being shuffled off its memory) If you do want to show the ones you've ignored, up by the top menu where it says "My Controls - New Messages - View New Posts" etc you'll find a link "Show Ignored Topic" - click that and you'll see all the ones you're ignoring highlighted in a lovely shade of pink. If you see a topic you'd rather keep seeing, just click it's ignore button again and it the pink disappears! Lovely eh! Tested in Firefox 1.07 + GM 0.5.3. and Firefox 1.5b2 + GM0.6.2.1 - ENjoy! Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Yes, an excellent script! And so many threads to test it on... Quote
+Moote Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 It does deserve its own thread Congratulations Lordelph on an amazing script how many to go before your 100th? Moote Quote
+Sue and Bernie Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 (edited) Excellent! LordElph - you and the other Monkey boys & girls need to have a pinned topic of your own for these super add-ons... Edited October 22, 2005 by Sue and Bernie Quote
+Just Roger Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 BRILLIANT The only minor criticism is that the little X covers up the "Go to first Unread" button which is also very useful on long threads. Is it possible to do a tweak? Quote

Is it possible to do a tweak? CONGRATULATIONS Concur! Pretty-please... I also found that I have had to re-save my link to the forums. I found that if I used my usual saved link, it put me back to the pre-modified version. After a couple of re-installs, the penny dropped... Edited October 22, 2005 by Sue and Bernie Quote
+Sue and Bernie Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 ...and I note that the "Jump to" button at the end of the postings takes you back to a pre-script UK home page. Any chance of "adjusting" that too?.... Quote
+Sue and Bernie Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 The "United Kingdom" link at the top of the thread does return you to the modified page with the excluded threads. Quote
+lordelph Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 The script looks for something in the page address (showforum=) which it would seem isn't always there. I'll check it out. I can't repeat the issue with the icon obscuring the "go to unread post" icon - they appear side by side for me. What browser are you using? Quote
+lordelph Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 OK, I think I've fixed it - if you find it doesn't work, let me know the url of the page you are looking at. To re-install, make sure you get the latest version by left-clicking the link. You'll see the script, but then hit refresh - the version number at the top should say 0.11 - then go to Tools->Install User Script (or return to this thread and do the right-click thing) Quote
+Sue and Bernie Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 It's good for me! Excellent work - Thank you. Quote
Deego Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 (edited) Now if you could modify it to block out certain peoples replies! then people could just block all posts by Deego and not have to read any of my drivel Nice script Lordelph It will make the Forums seem a quieter for those who want it, that’s good as people now have a choice Edited October 22, 2005 by Deego Quote
+Just Roger Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 OK, I think I've fixed it Fixed it for me too. Great work Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 (edited) Although I think it's great, i don't have firefox or greasemonkey, how do I get it, and what does it cost (Scottish and I am as tight as a mouses ****hole) Edited October 22, 2005 by Haggis Hunter Quote

+Haggis Hunter Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Thanks i'll have a look at them, does it mean I will have to change the web browser that I am using? I use AOL (Yes I know a lot of people don't like AOL but that isn't the question) Quote
+lordelph Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Yes, Firefox is a separate browser to the AOL one, not being too familiar with AOL I don't how easy it is to use a different browser - might not be worth the effort! This script probably won't work in Turnabout on Internet Explorer but if enough people are interested I'll see what I can do. Quote
+Teuchters Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Congrats to Paul - it really does what it says on the tin.... Quote
+Maingray Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 How about an option to ignore entire forums? Quote

+John Stead Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I don't think I thanked you for this script - MOST useful. And until I reread the topic this evening I had not noticed the "go to first unread" icon - double thanks. Quote

+Sue and Bernie Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 ...even more congrats! What an excellent solution - now everybody can kill their own pet hate threads and banish them from their individualised view of the forums. Mods, have you considered generating a pinned topic for GreaseMonkey extensions so that they are always available to members. At present, as loose threads, they will slide down the forums and be hidden from the late-comers. Quote
+Moote Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Whilst board at work I re engineered the script to block a maximum of 10,000 threads; now I do not have to read the forums at all! Moote Quote
+Sue and Bernie Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Oi! Lordelph! Where's this brill script hidden? I am away from home using my laptop - I've just brought it up to date by installing Firefox and went looking for this script, the original link says it's missing. I really want the little veto cross back.... Cheers.... Quote
+lordelph Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 The server it's hosted on is down this morning. Should be up soon or I'll be getting a lot of phone calls shortly.... Quote

+Haggis Hunter Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 This great script is no longer working due to the ads being added to the forums. Quote
Lactodorum Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Phew! Thanks for updating the script. I was horrified when the ignore boxes disappeared Quote
+thedeadpirate Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 First off, I love the script. I made a couple of adjustments to fix the latest security update to GM and added an option to tick the Save a copy to sent items when you send a pm. I was wondering if it would be possible to add an option to remove any posts from someone in your ignore list. I have been working on this for a few days now and am not making any headway. Would it be possible to add something like that to your script? I see the usermatch is already there. I got it working to remove any posts started by an ignored user. But I would really be interested in never seeing any posts by an ignored user. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
+FunLovingGeocacher Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Thanks for updating this script. Good job! Quote
+The Blorenges Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 and Birthday Congrats too Hope yours is better than this one... MrsB Quote
+MartyBartfast Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I recently installed Firefox 3.0b5 and the ignore threads script nolonger works. Other GM scripts that I use are OK (including the OS map script). Quote
Edgemaster Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 For those who cannot live without this in firefox 3, I've patched up the script to work with it again.
