  1. Bull <insert whatever word you deem appropriate>! Let's just hope you continue to be perfect. But if and when you do slip up, I hope that there is someone sitting close by to kick you when you are down, too! Hypocritical cop-out! The use of a smiley does not take away from the fact that you are doing precisely what you accuse me of. And with this, I give myself -1. I refuse to fill out any forms. And I am too freakin' pissed to bother to put together a coherent, witty, amusing goodbye. To those who got me, thanks. To everyone else who I apparently annoyed the crap out of,,, <intentionally left blank because I have nothing good to say>!
  2. I'm sorry, but I have to say this. No one attacked her. I made it clear that I did not believe her because her post sounded a lot like a troll we've had in the forums. I asked repeatedly for the GC code, even though she had already gone above and beyond what anyone in her position would reasonably do. But that was not an attack. I've reread that thread a LOT after reading this one. I still don't see where anyone was nasty to her. No, I was not welcoming to her at all. I added nothing positive to that thread. I jumped to conclusions based on my obsession with ashnikes. I upset her and apparently, along with others who did not believe her, brought her to tears. For that I am truly sorry. Several of us could have been a LOT nicer than we were. But no one was outright mean to her. I have to say that had she not been elderly and disabled and generally not used to the dynamics of a forum in which people from all walks of life join in, that she would not have been as upset as she was. Nonetheless, those were the circumstances. She was elderly. She was disabled. And she was sensitive. And my behavior was completely uncalled for. I said I would do everything in my power to smooth things over and I have. She has forgiven me and I thank her for that. I only wish everyone was as kind and forgiving to others.
  3. I've made a formal apology. I'm going on a real vacation this week, so that doesn't really count. So I will put myself on a self-imposed 1 month vacation. If that's not enough, then let me know. I'm not sure what else I can do at this point.
  4. Dear Jeanine, I would like to publicly apologize for my actions. I mistook you for another poster who has been causing problems on our forums recently. This is not your fault, but mine. I take full responsibility for my actions and for encouraging others to think ill of you as well. I had no right to act in this manner. It was behavior unbecoming of a geocacher and unbecoming of a fellow human being. Please understand that all geocaches are required to have adequate permission before they are hidden. Furthermore, the guidelines we go by do not allow digging to either hide or find a geocache. It has come to my attention that the person who hid this cache was a child and this was an honest mistake on his part I would like to personally apologize for any damage even though I do not live in your area. As a geocacher, I realize that this does not bode well for our hobby. I would like to clear up all the misunderstandings, but I'm afraid that the more I talk the deeper I stick my foot in my mouth. I realize that there is really nothing I can do or offer to right what was wronged. But I am a man of my word and I made an offer in good faith and that I had wished to fulfill. It was not so much to replace the plants. I realize that you can't just replace the plants any more than you could bring back someone's pet. But it was my gesture of apology for my actions. It was brought to my attention that this offer was both inappropriate and not appreciated and I understand fully why it would be taken as such. I retract that offer. Basically, I feel awful for the way I have behaved. There is not much else I know to do but to say it again and then leave you in peace. I am wholeheartedly sorry for the way I behaved in the forums today. Please accept that and if you can't, I understand. Sincerely, Geobain
  5. You are right. I have no defense other than the truth. It will either find me guilty as charged or vindicate me. And frankly at this point, whether I was right or wrong, it has become clear to me that I need to step away for a while. As keystone very astutely pointed out, I have become obsessed with ashnikes. And whether this turns out to be valid or not, I have already damaged my reputation. So all I can say is that no matter what the outcome, I was wrong.
  6. You are right. If this turns out to be legitimate, then the damage is already done. But I can assure you that I will go out of my way to try to make amends. I guarantee that. It may be for naught, but I will make ever effort to make it right.
  7. It was explained explicitly where to find that. If she wanted this resolved, then yes, she needed to provide the GC code. With that code, this could have been dealt with immediately.
  8. I already have. It was before she came back for the 2nd and 3rd time. I'm totally embarrassed by the group reaction to this one. Embarrassed is an understatement. If I turn out to be wrong, I will be the most embarrassed individual here. I will truly have egg on my face and I will genuinely apologize. I will wait until this is hashed out. And once this is confirmed to be authentic, I will make a full, public apology.
  9. I'm finished with this thread. Now that I have the GC code, I have posted the appropriate NA log, contacted the CO and contacted the reviewer that published the cache. It is up to them to figure out if this is legitimate or not. There you go. All of the fun without having to actually talk to anyone. Come again? If I was wrong, then there is no reason for me to add more fuel to the fire. I've contacted the appropriate people. Had the OP supplied the GC code when asked, then much of this thread would not have occurred. I'm still not convinced the OP is who she says she is. But now that I have the GC code, I can wait until the CO and mtn-man have a chance to investigate this and figure out if this is a legitimate complaint or not.
  10. You are correct. Piddlepuss, If I was incorrect in calling you a forum troll, I apologize. I have contacted the appropriate people to take care of this issue for you. These matters are generally taken care of very quickly. Regards, Geobain

  12. Hold the phone. EVERYTHING the OP said is listed on the cache page.
  13. Maybe it's still a bit too coincidental that someone would post this the day after Ash gets yet another account banned. But I have my GC code now and I will put my money where my fingers are. If she doesn't PM me her address, then I will send a check to Community Gardens.
  14. Ok, I will let this one go. (I still think it is Ash, but since the "no digging required" is encrypted in the hint, then I have no choice but to let this one go) Therefore, I am going to write a NA on behalf of the OP and if she will PM me her address, I will be happy to send her $30.
  15. We can all help a LOT more if we have a GC code. She's been to the listing and I've told her where to find the GC code. If she provides that, then WE can post the NA for her. There's nothing for her to fear.
  16. I am a 41 year old disabled man. Give me the GC code of the cache and I will be glad to help offset the cost of the damage you say you have experienced. The GC code is located in the top right corner of the page where you read about the "no digging required" and about how the cache owner froze the cache, etc. I have offered $30 for the GC code. Provide us with that and not only will send you the money order, but I will personally write the Needs Archive log and contact the reviewer and follow up to have it removed.
  17. To remain On-Topic: The OP should post a Needs Archived log. I can assure you I am not the OP. But should I be proved wrong, I am more than willing to help offset the cost of the damage purported by the OP.
  18. ashnikes is a 20+ guy in Florida. Or a 40+ guy. Or a hillbilly. Or from Ithica (sic) New York. Or married to one of the socks. Wouldn't surprise me if he's now an elderly disabled lady married to a guy. Still, I'm undecided. This thread raises several flags, but does not smell particularly like ashnikes. Maybe he's getting better at it. Anyway, the advice given so far are good, and there's not much that can be added to it. He's getting better. But next time he needs to choose a real geocache instead of making on up. Google indexes geocaching.com pretty darn well. If you know how to use it correctly, you can find just about anything you want. This cache does not exist. But if it does, I will gladly pay the OP the $30. Hold on, I will go make a listing with those phrases... And I will expect the $30 in the next couple days. And I will know it was created recently and not when the OP claims it to have been.

  20. I am pretty good with Google search. And I can't find a cache with the phrases "community gardens" and "no digging required". So, I will make this challenge to the OP. You claimed to have visited the cache listing and read it. You claim to have posted 2 phrases from that listing. Therefore, if you can give us the GC code for that cache listing (it's located in the top right corner of the listing page), I will not only apologize to you, but I will mail you a money order for $30. That should help cover the costs of the plants.
  21. Can't be Ashnikes. Reading the opening post doesn't create the "chewing on aluminum foil" sensation that his posts are famous for. I think this one is legitimate. First off, who hides those containers without first putting cammo on them? The OP claims to have opened it and found the website's address. Fine, most stash notes have the geocaching URL. The OP managed to find the cache listing and the forums but somehow couldn't figure out how to post a Needs Archive note? Finally, everyone knows that CO's don't get around to doing maintenance until at least the 10th DNF.
  22. I am positive you are wrong. If ash errr... the OP really feels there is a problem, then report it. We all know that if this is for real that it will be archived immediately once the property owner reports it.
