+Criminal
Question: How many use (or have used)their lunch hour to dash out and pick up a cache? This would include caches with or without logbooks, with or without pens, etc. I was thinking of doing that at lunch today as there are two relatively new ones nearby. Dinoprophet
I've run out of caches that are close enough, except for a virtual a couple of miles away. And there weren't that many to begin with. But I have done some, mostly when I was just starting out. I spent several afternoons sitting at my desk wearing damp, burr-encrusted Dockers. +Dave_W6DPS
Usually I just have my stuff in the car and will catch one or two on the way home--give or take a detour. Dave_W6DPS My two cents worth, refunds available on request. (US funds only) Quote Link to comment
+Hiemdahl
I once I actually did one, before dawn, on my way to work. [This message was edited by Hiemdahl on February 28, 2003 at 01:18 PM.] Quote Link to comment
+bitbrain
Lunchtime caching is great 'cause people spend the afternoon wondering why you have twigs in your hair & mud on your shoes. Quote Link to comment

That is so funny and so true. I save the ones that are close to my office for just that. I have even had a cell phone call or two while doing them! "Uh, Mr. mtn-man, you sound a little out of breath?" I think it is fun to do them at lunch. Quote Link to comment
+CdirtO
I can go anywhere!! ... (if my wife lets me) Quote Link to comment
+Eric K
When I first got into Caching I did the few that were in the park not to far from work. One word of advice. +TMAN264
I cached once right after work, in my suit. I was new to cacheing, and didn't realize I'd by going over a river culvert to a mud island. I'll send the dry cleaning bill soon. Peace Will cache for food. Quote Link to comment
Dru Morgan
But, now I have gotten all the caches within a 20 mile radius of my work. My lunch hour is not that long. Ever notice that anyone that caches less than you do is a moron, while anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac? -Dru Morgan Quote Link to comment
+nittany dave
I once had to spend the afternoon at work with torn pants and a muddy butt! +CWL
With my new job I travel around West TN alot. I cover Everything in West TN West of the TN river, and down to Tupleo, MS. So when I'm fixing to head out to a far out location. I check the maps to see if theres a cache on the way. As long as the area is not to muddy I'm ok. I have come back with some mud on my slacks and go a couple of weird looks but my closest coworker is about 3 hours away. (I'm a contractor for Bellsouth) I've done caches as far out as 100 miles from my house while traveling to a Service call. God I love my job!!! Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
I would never, ever use my lunch hour for geocaching. I would most certainly never disappear for 4 hours in the middle of the day. Nuh-uh. No way. Quote Link to comment
+HartClimbs
I've only been doing this for a couple months but have spent some lunchtime caching (although *mostly* virtuals near my office). On days I've been working @ home - it's easier to tackle some regular caches since I don't have to worry about explaining to folks at work why I have mud on my pants! Quote Link to comment

Really get them wondering, take along a coworker of the opposite sex, and don't tell anyone what you were REALLY doing.... I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should happen to get back before I return, please ask me to wait. Quote Link to comment
+Harrald
I hit Central Park (NYC) a few times on my lunch hours.....I mean hour. ==================================== As always, the above statements are just MHO. ==================================== Quote Link to comment
+DustyJacket
I did, until I started runing out of caches nearby. I also will hit a new one on the way home. DustyJacket ...If life was fair, a banana split would cure cancer. Quote Link to comment

+ScottJ
Whenever it looks like I'll have a little extra time at lunch, I love to go hit a cache. I've already done most of the ones I can comfortably do and be back at the office inside of an hour, though, so now I have to go AWOL a little -- Scott Johnson (ScottJ) Quote Link to comment

+wimseyguy
I really can't since I own and manage a restaurant that does most of it's business at lunchtime. But my gear is always in the truck so I can stop on the way home, or on the way to Sam's Club. And oh yeah, there was that trip to Myrtle Beach for a food show when I detoured off the interstate on the way down and back to bag a few.
