  1. Thank you OpinioNate, I have checked my account and it does indeed reflect the correct date. I appreciate your and Raine's fast handling of this issue. I have to admit, tho, I am not happy with Jessica. This seems to have been something that could have been fixed within hours of the first email. What made me mad was the complete lack of followup from her. As for Jeremy, Lil Devil, Its a good thing he's been banned! He needs to get out and find more caches, and having to deal with jerks like me takes too much of his precious time! I am again a happy cacher. Go ahead and lock down this post or not as you see fit! Edited for atrocious grammer... I gotta get some sleep!
  2. GOF & Bacall, Not to be rude, but, you obviously skipped over the "I've waited two weeks for a reply" part of my post. And as for not hanging out over the weekend, explain to me all the other Groundspeak lackey responses to threads on these forums that have happened all weekend long without response to this thread. Any one of those lackeys could have popped in here with an explanation or something stating they would look into this. They obviously know they have a problem, but are making no effort to correct things in a timely manner. I know that my customers expect their issues resolved asap, I see no reason why I shouldn't expect the same service from someone I pay money to. Thanks.
  3. How 'bout it Jeremy. This is your company. Got anything to say?
  4. Maybe someone at Groundspeak can answer this one since Jessica (Groundspeak) refuses to explain it. I happened to be in my account profile and noticed that I was showing as a basic user. I have been a Premium User and on auto pay since 11/19/02! I then noticed this little blurb off to the right side that mentioned Paypal and Groundspeak changing from them to regular CC billing, and that I should update my info with Groundspeak and cancel my subscription through Paypal. To clarify dates here, this was on 07/08/09. My normal expiration for my membership being 11/26/09. (The extra week being caused by a stolen CC and my forgetting to update paypal back in '07, so I did go basic for that week. My bad!) So..... I did this, updated my account info with Groundspeak, WAIT A MINUTE! Groundspeak hit my CC right then for $30.00 and extended my account to 07/08/10! Now, I have lost 5 months of paid for membership! Jessica's reply to my email to Groundspeak about this was blunt. "This is an issue on our side and your account has been updated." I have not received a refund of the overpayment. My expiration date has NOT been extended out to 11/26/10. The way I figure it, Groundspeak just hit me for $11.48 extra. I have emailed back to Jessica requesting the details of her resolution on my account and have been kind enough to have waited 2 WEEKS! No response. What gives. I even gave Groundspeak an out. Send me a static cling travelbug for my truck and keep anything extra. That hasn't happened either. Obviously, stopping payment on the card and requesting a new CC number from my bank is an option. I'd really rather not do that as it will cost me more than the $11.48 owed me by Groundspeak, but we have a principal here. I DO NOT give my money away, but Jessica must think I'll just sit back and take it. NOT. And I think I am being kind to Groundspeak by staying Premium, since I am not nearly as active in geocaching as I was. Becoming a basic member and not giving Groundspeak any of my money is obviously becoming more and more an option. Please let me know how to resolve this as my emails go unanswered now. Thanks. P.S. - I did cancel my subscription with Paypal.
  5. Thanks, nittany dave. I had done everything but go to the individual routes ...... I appreciate the help! CdirtO
  6. Hi all, I was curious that I cannot find a way to delete routes that I have uploaded in my efforts to create "caches along a route" PQs. This isn't a complaint, but as I honestly won't use these routes again, I'd like to clean up my route files so I won't have to search through pages of them. So, is this function available to us or will the functionality be added in the near future or not at all? Thanks, CdirtO
  7. Well, The kids use a Sony Clie PEG-SJ22 (? can't remember off the top of my head, for sure) with Cachemate when they go with me, and I use an AT&T Tilt GPS/PPC/Phone with GPXsonar. Both work great! As for Wherigo, There still aren't any games for Colorado, but I'm trying to figure it out and build one! Works tho, in the Tilt! CdirtO

    HTML Quandary

Sorry, I gotta toss in my 2c worth here. First, MS Word & FrontPage corrupt all html code severely. About 6 months ago, a friend here at work and I were assisting another friend of his with his website. Mike, (my friend) adamantly refused to use anything but Word to develop his page. I used, FirstPage, (No longer free, but I have an ANCIENT! copy). Mike's single screen code printed out at 17 printed pages! Mine printed on 2. The difference was almost 550Kb in size! We were both in shock! Needless to say, if you insist in hand coding AND using a M$ product, USE NOTEPAD!!!! FrontPage is even worse. As for learning HTML, CSS, and a few other things, try: w3schools Enjoy
  9. I normally don't pipe into stuff like this, but get yourself cachemate and GSAK! Become a Premium member at geocaching.com and use pocket queries. save them as .gpx and then use them with GSAK and cachemate. I use these 2 items only. ( I do use mapping software also, but it isn't req'd) Cachemate ($8 dollars to register) allows you to add logs and gives you all the info on the website for the cache, doesn't change the name of the cache, and keeps the hint encrypted unless you want to have it decrupted. GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife - $20 to register) is the SWEETEST cache software I've ever seen. You can list your caches in many ways, you can export .pdb files for your palm that slide right into cachemate, it will export files for about 10 different mapping softwares, as well as make files for other systems to use. You can input a center coordinate and have the others listed by distance from that point, Etc. , etc., etc. Cachemate 4.0.3 GSAK 5.0.1 Let these be your guide to the great outdoor caching adventure! 10. Holy crap. What a bunch of garbage. I finally make some time and come in here to see whats been goin on, and all I see is someone who hasn't yet explained himself properly and still griping on. You want an updated site Tahosa? Then, dagnabit, you build the thing. You don't like the forums, you put 'em together and maintain 'em. Most of us donate our time so we can have fun and enjoy the sport. We do our level best to add to the game. You may plant caches, but you've done nothing but complain about CACHE for this entire thread with absolutely no constructive help what so ever. Why? Some people actually want to help and I am one. Regretfully, my complaint is that I don't have enough time to do it. Instead of spending all your free time caching (which is what most of us would like to do) try doing something constructive. Get together with someone and plan a CACHE event like Lapaglia recommended. Plan a CITO event like Imajika. Do something beside moan and groan about things you won't help change. As far as I am concerned, if you won't help then just be quiet. As for the site, I am currently rebuilding it as time permits, and it is actually beginning to take shape. I have 3 of the 19 pages built and 3 more that are close to finished. If you all want forums included, fine. If not, I can leave them out. They will be based on phpbb just like these forums we are currently arguing on. CdirtO For those of you who don't like my tone, I apologize. But I would love to dedicate more of my time to this group. I wish that I could and to hear someone who has that time complain just really ticks me off.
  11. Well, I kept my mouth shut as long as possible on confirming we will be there. Good thing, too. I will not be able to make it as the idiotic school my daughter goes to, decided to have this weekend for their graduation, effectively screwing up the entire holiday weekend for us! One good thing, my parents will be able to come and visit us from Vegas. Haven't seen them in 6 months. All of you have a real good time at the campout and make sure to send your best pictures to me so's I can get em on the CACHE website for the world to see. CdirtO
  12. Well Sax, I hope things work out and I know about the putting in for other openings to get moved. I work for AT&T in Denver and before that in Mesa, AZ. It took almost 4 years to finally get my transfer to Denver! I put in for every job that came open in the Denver area with AT&T! CdirtO
  13. CO_Admin has this thing about delegation of responsibility. He never lets anyone help him with anything! On a side note: CA, I had already emailed Sax about his event being on the site before you did! Naner, naner, naner! CdirtO
  14. K-9, At the bottom of the actual PQ page is a link that enables you to delete the pocket query. As you construct a new PQ, look to the bottom of the actual form on the right side and there be the button. Enjoy, CdirtO
  15. Well, If'n you are gonna distribute them to geocaching clubs and organizations, Please, Please, be sure to include C.A.C.H.E. in that distribution! Remember, Jeep has already used Colorado in their commercials. (The one where the girl drops the napkin with the coords on it for the guy to pick up) Colorado is home to the American Alps and would be a great place to start a goodly number of these 'Yeller Wranglers'! Contact myself or CO_Admin for mailing info. CdirtO Edited for lousy "tipyng"
  16. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I do believe that you must apply for and be approved for a permit to bike on an Interstate (in each state you go thru) and you do not for state highways. Yes, I am aware that some states do not have that policy and even in some that do, there are bike routes that are part of an Interstate. My thinking would be, and Jamie Z, please correct me if I am wrong, but, I'd rather ride on a state highway with less traffic doing 70-75 than an interstate where everyone and their grandma is doing 90+! One big truck blowing by at that speed and you might become intimate with the pavement or the dirt on the side of the road! Not to mention the fact that most Interstates bypass some of the most beautiful scenery in the US! This comes from trucking for 10 years and logging dang near a million US miles in that time! Give me scenery over speed any day. CdirtO Jamie, good luck on your ride and sorry I can't help, but I moved out of Phoenix for the Denver area 3 years ago.
  17. Hey Tahosa, Yup, it is a second notice, but, it has the dates and times that our good Mr. Zoltig didn't post! That's OK, tho. We'll hang him for it at the next event. I think I can find some of that stretchy rope they used in "Wild, Wild West"! Enjoy, CdirtO
  18. Sorry for the short notice, but I heard this this morning from a co-worker. WB2 news in Denver will be running a spot on their 9pm (MT) newscast about geocaching on 02/11/2004. If you happen to be in the Denver area, or, of course, the Colorado area and can pick up the cast, lets all watch! I was told by one of the guys in the news room, that it will probably re-air on the morning of the 12th, but he was not sure at what time. CdirtO

  20. Saxman, You won't need the portable or any TV now. The Mules are out of it! CdirtO
  21. Just a quick note.... Magellan may have a larger screen, but the Legend has a higher resolution, giving you a clearer view when you have topos loaded in. I also can use DeLorme's TopoUSA 4 (with a BIT of work, I was able to upload to my Legend) as well as M$ Streets and Trips 2K4 to map where I am going with my Legend. Of course Magellan more than likely has this feature also. Personally, I wouldn't trade my Legend for a Magellan. (I do however, want to upgrade to a Vista) On the other hand, I was looking at the Lowrance iFinder Plus Pro and it seems to be a pretty sweet piece of hardware from what I read. (I just can't find a price for it) CdirtO
  22. Hey Scorpion King, To use GPXSpinner and Plucker, you must be a Premium member and have access to pocket queries from GC.com in a gpx format. Once you have the PQs you can use Spinner to create files that Plucker can read and upload to your PDA. See this site: The Art of Paperless Geocaching by CYBret. One of the things that CYBret left out, tho, was that you must setup the files for HotSync after Plucker is done by finding and selecting them. His instructions kinda imply that you can just HotSync them without doing this. Of course, I'm an idiot so take that with a grain of salt. I became a premium member just a few weeks ago and using this page I learned alot about how to do what you want. (man, these things are sweet!) Maybe I will get to cache more now. I have 43 caches mapped out along my route to Phoenix from Denver and all of them are in my PDA now. Woohoo! CdirtO
  23. I will have a link added to the website within a day or two! Woohoo! Our very own forums!!!! Now we can act like all the civilized people on the GC boards CdirtO
  24. quote:Originally posted by martmann: quote:Originally posted by gallahad:Dibs on the Hummer... but I'd prefer the model H1. Exactly! the H2 is just a Hummer wannabee. For the Coke thing, it cant just be a GPS receiver, satellites don't 'see' them. Might be a GPS receiver with a cell phone, or it might work like the Emergency locator beacons the military (and now civilians) use. ___________________________________________________________ If trees could scream, would we still cut them down? Well, maybe if they screamed all the time, for no reason. http://community.webshots.com/album/67423220KEECyy http://community.webshots.com/album/71654825qQctnv martmann, They state in one of the threads above and in both the links provided, that a transponder is used. A transponder takes the reading from the satellites and transmits it as a radio signal to a receiver. This gives the exact position of the item to a receiving computer and displays the info on a map. This transponder would automatically turn on when the can is opened and, yes, I am sure for this to work, that the can would also have some built in way of letting the user know that the can is a winner, be it being empty, beeping, talking or some other way that is sure to scare the bejeezus out of some unsuspecting person! Considering there is a Coke bottler in almost (probably all) major cities, the odds of the response team being more than an hour or so away from the can when the transponder goes off, is slim. Now, just so's the can doesn't end up in the trash truck before they get there! Cdirto P.S. here's a link to a transponder site IBM location transponder I can go anywhere!! ... (if my wife lets me)
