Here is a stoooopid question........which thread do I go to to ask for help ......I just got a palm pilot......Yes I know.....FINALLY moving into the modern age. I was so impressed last Weekend at all the info on the palms i went and got myself one.

I downloaded GSAK but how do I move my PQ as a whole to GSAK....maybe there is not a way....and then of course the most burning question......how do I get the stuff from GSAK to my new faithful palm pilot. The palm p has had a chance to talk to my jeep and is now fearful for its life......whos to blame it....took my jeep in today for an oil change......the guy mumbled something about women, jeeps, rocks, scratches........Sigh.......

1) Download Cachemate.

2) Using GSAK go to File/Export/Cachemate PDB File...

3) Synch your Palm to your PC

4) Open Cachemate and import to unfound items.

Check out this cache page for more help!

I was one of the "Many Others!" for that event.

It was fun installing the CAT5 at that school!

We had a great turnout too! :)

Okay . . . you've convinced me. I'll make sure to call a friend, and/or post here when I take off on my own.

I'm notorious for not "planning," so I often don't end up where I think I'm going . . . like yesterday . . . I did get a bit spooked driving that steep, narrow Otay Mountain road in the late afternoon. :)

OK, here's my safety post:

RLCSpeaker and I both got kitchen passes for an overnight trip to Vegas for his birthday. We leave in about an hour and should be back late tomorrow afternoon. If I don't post here by tomorrow night sometime...it means we couldn't stop 'caching!

OK gang, one last offer for any TBs that want to go across the Pond - we're now leaving this Friday (Dec 2nd) so you'll have to be quick! Contact me through the site or email if you want to meet up, or put it in a coastal cache somewhere near PB/La Jolla so I can pick it up. Cheers!

News regarding the San Diego Geocoin

Recently on an "online auction site" we placed the first San Diego Geocoin up for auction with 100% of the final sale price supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, they are dedicated to breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs at the community level. Komen also hosts the San Diego Race for the Cure.

The auction final was $105. :)

Thank you San Diego Geocachers!

Here is another one, but this one appears to be for profit.

If I sell half of my purchase, I may come out ahead!

How is the best way to catch this mouse in the first place? what's a mouse got to do with geocaching? I thought we were not supposed to harm any creatures whilst out on the hunt?

Obviously, this is a very special trained "caching assistant" mouse with specialized computer skills, silly:

release the mouse.

it will automatically open GSAK and ask you if okay to open the file.

Those of you who know me are aware that I'm not one to usually be at a loss for ideas when it comes to geocaching. But I've been racking my brain tonight and I juts can't figure something out.

I got my SD geocoins in the mail today, and I am totally at a loss as to what to name them.

Seriously.

I was thinking that maybe some local SD icon would be nice, or some local establishment that I liked i.e, Moondoggies, or PB Bar and Grill, or Dave and Buster's would be funny. Then I thought that naming one after Black's Beach and having a mission of "catching some moon shine there" would be cool. Then I thought perhaps naming them after local cachers would be good too.

Help! What ideas are percolating in the SD crowd for good SD-based names?

I'm thinking of making a thread that would be a contest for the best photo of your San Diego Geocoin while out geocaching, of course a story behind the picture would have to be included.....the winner gets a coin? Watcha think? More Banter material.

Since you asked... Some of the city's founding fathers: Horton, Spreckels, Wegeforth, Scripps... Or you could name the coins after our city council's favorite hangouts: Pacers, Pure Platinum, Cheetahs... Or maybe not...

D!

We should at least get a separate Southern California forum! I bet there are more caches in Southern California than in many states!

Ain't that the truth! When we were on vacation with some friends in WY, we had to drive far & wide to find any caches.

Ummm, what if they get traded?

I think many of us got only a coin or two to keep or trade not put into circulation. I got five so I may put one out and name it after GD Ginger.

Do we have any missing cachers today?  :(

I just heard on the radio that two hikers were stranded on Palomar Mountain overnight. Rescuers are going in this morning by air.  :)

Pretty cold last night!

Geesh, how do you get stranded on Palomar Mountain?

The Story Here

Darn surveyors.

You are correct. Southern California hosts one of the greatest concentrations of geocaches in the country.

To be honest, it's much easier just to track topics in your own control panel.

So I bookmark my control panel and pop it open to see all the SD topics and which ones have had some recent action. :(

Introduction and Question about placing caches in Barona.

Hi SD cachers, I am an RN who has lived in the San Diego area for about three years now.  I am new at caching and have been having a great time the last couple months.  Thanks to all of you for the great caches. (And, although I am clearly not up to the task of solving the TT and other really twisted puzzles yet, I have been really enjoying working on the more sane ones!)

I am starting to plan my first cache hides (which probably won't be placed before mid January or so)  and have a few ideas I am kicking around.  (For one of them, I am hoping to do a multi-stage puzzle cache as a thank you to all you twisted minds out there.)

For one of the caches I'm planning, I have been scoping out some possible sites at Barona, but couldn't help but notice there are no caches there. (There is one, but it's at an establishment there and doesn't require leaving the main road.)  Has anyone tried to get permission to place a cache at Barona and been denied?  I am thinking that, once I have the exact site chosen, I will approach the tribal council for permission to hide.  It occurred to me that this may have been done already with poor results.  Anyone have any info or suggestions regarding this?

Thanks,

KamaRaga

(Kate)

We had an "interesting" experience on the road through Barona today. Princess Toadstool and I stopped to find FastTrack. We pulled off the road near the sign for the racetrack and were there for a few minutes because we were having trouble getting the cache container open. We did not notice we were being observed, but suddenly a Tribal Policeman appeared next to the car and asked what we were doing.

We said we had just stopped to take a little break. He told us we were allowed to travel trough on the road but were not allowed to stop. Fortunately, we had the cache container in the car with us. We didn't volunteer any information about it, or what we were really doing stopped there. He did not seem like he would be interested, or sympathetic to the activity.

FastTrack is going to be archived . . .

I just disabled our cache "Fast Track" that was located on the shoulder of Wild Cat Canyon Road on the Barona Reservation. It has been there for quite some time with no problems but today Princess Toadstool and Miragee stopped by there and were harassed by the Tribal Police. They were told they were able to pass through only and could not stop on their land....I guess you can olny trespass if you are droping money at the casino  It would be my experience now not to place any more caches out there.
