Does anyone have the ability to buy the Sir Gerald coin for the club? I had pre-ordered for 20, but my card bounced today! OUCH!#!# Too many coins lately.

 

I had some cash in my paypal account, so I bought 2, but I can't swing the rest right now. I will make a payment tonight, so hopefully, I can swing it in a day or two if nobody else can do it.

How many coins are being minted?

1,000 spots minimum for GC trackable.

We could use 500 this edition, 500 for 2006?

And I think we agreed - go for the icon.

Don't worry about getting your coins, your all covered.

 

Not sure about the tracking though. I was thinking of just having them numbered (#'s 0001-1000) and not worry about GC.com or some other tracking. Leave them as a "special regional" geocoin, such as the Wisconsin Coulee geocoins. Because it's not a STATE geocoin I'm not sure we could even get a special GC.com icon, unless there's a club or region icon....otherwise it could get out of hand, much like the states are at the moment.

 

BTW. My wife is working on getting pins made with the front coin design, kinda like what Moun10bike did for his artwork.....should make good cache swag and backpack decorations.

I think we should go for trackable if at all possible.

 

And as far as orders go, most people haven't even seen it yet. Once we are ready to take orders, post on the coin thread and we will have the balance of 500 gone in a matter of hours...

About the coin buying. :laughing:

It's getting out of hand.

We can't afford to get every coin out there.

I think we need to concentrate on the State coins. Keep the 15 coin order thing going. There are only 50 states :lol: .

But the personal coin purchases need some work. If you see a personal coin come up and you like it, order it for yourself. Come to this site and tell the others and let it be a personal choice.

C4 has already had problems ordering coins. And if someone orders 15 coins at $6 apiece, plus shipping - near $100. We can't keep going at this pace.

Everyone could be on the lookout still, just no more group orders for personal coins.

This is just my opinion. Feel free to agrue or agree with me.

 

But let's discuss it. :laughing:

Probably not a bad idea. I've been focusing on getting all GC.com geocoins (States, Personal, etc.) and then looking at Personal/Event coins if they spark my interest....otherwise, as you say, it could get out of hand. I think C4 and f0t0m0m have a really good idea of what "The Club" wants/needs and what they would like for their collection, so I trust them on their purchases for the club...and thank them!!

 

PW's interests:

-GC.com trackable geocoins: at least 2 for me for each purchase made.

-Others: probably 1 but will confirm through this forum or PM purchaser on my interest.

I would tend to agree, that the volume of new geocoins is becoming unmanagable...

 

We probably need to be ordering different levels depending upon the type of coin...

 

I think we each need to decide how many we want to have ordered for each of the standard types of coins and go from there. I'll try to start with of list of the "standard types of offerings", and then we can each decide what we want ordered from a group standpoint for each.... this will give us a guideline as to what to order, when a new coin is available.

 

1. Country/State Coin - GC trackable

2. Country/State coin - not trackable

3. Country/State Coin - limited edition

4. Event/Group Coin - GC trackable

5. Event/Group Coin - not trackable

6. Event/Group Coin - limited edition

7. Personal Coin - GC Trackable

8. Personal Coin - not trackable

9. Personal Coin - limited edition

 

I think that basically covers most of the offerings I've seen to date.

 

If we can each decide want we want for a group purchase for ourselves for each of these types, and we can commit to them, then that should make it easier.

 

I would want 2 in each of the 9 possible catogories.

 

Purely as an example, Person A may want 2 of #1, #4, and #7, 1 of #2, #5 and #9 and 0 of #3, #6 and #9.....

 

I think we should try to keep the max of any coin to 2 per person, so as not to casue too much financial impact on the people placing the order. Otherwise, we would need to set up an account, and fund it up front, so that noone gets burdened with the debt.

 

Any thoughts??? does this work for you????

Still have around 6 MD coins.

 

The Oosterdam leaves 1700 Saturday. I found out yesterday they have hot spots around the ship so I can keep up with the madness :laughing: .
