Jayme H
Hey there! The Product Development Team is considering options for updating the profile page and we would like your help. We know that this is a well visited page and that's why we want to hear feedback from you about how you use it, what's missing from it, and what isn't necessary. +kennysart
One of the things I would like is a search feature under my owned geocaches. The longer the list, the more difficult it is to scroll down looking for a particular geocache. A search would be great! Kenny art Link to comment

Thanks for taking part in this conversation! Great to see you back and posting, Jayme! 1. What do you use the bio box for? To tell a short introduction about where my web-handle came from, and to use as an introduction to others. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? Nope. Don't even know what "banners from caches or events" are to be able or wanting to display them. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? It depends. Profiles can be an introduction, a way to confirm challenge requirements, give a face to a name (someone's gallery), and provide fodder for disagreements or whatever on the forums (when last logged in, how long a member, how many caches found or hidden, etc) Profile: 1. +psubrian
Interesting subject here Jayme! I have become a full fledged GSAK user and use the bio box to show my stats from the FindStatGenerator macro from GSAK as the statistics from geocaching.com were severely lacking years ago and still to this day do not show all of the stats like I'm interested in. (As an engineer, I'm very interested in statistics and the many ways of looking at things.) Feel free to visit my profile to see what all I show. I do not necessarily show banners from caches or events on my profile - I suppose the closest is the "badges" which are super low on my priority list. I maintain them only because they assist me when trying to qualify for different challenges (a whole different subject). When I look at other's profiles, I'm usually interested in a variety of things; but more often than not, I'm curious if they're qualifying for a challenge or trying to judge when I create a challenge of how easily attainable a challenge is by using some prolific cachers in my area as a baseline. If I were to point to one thing in particular, its how many US counties they've cached in. Profile: Avatar image (like) Find count (most important) Trackables logged count (don't care) Send message to e-mail (important) 'Member since:' (don't care) Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…) (don't care) ~ Link to give gift membership(don't care) Location (nice, but don't care) Last visit to website (nice, but don't care) Send a friend request (only shows when viewing someone else’s profile, not your own) (LOWEST PRIORITY - Someone tell me what good the friends list is other than a quick link elsewhere to view their profile.) See forum posts (don't care) Geocaches: (This is okay, but could be combined with the stats section in a more meaningful way) Finds by cache type breakdown Link to all geocache finds Hides by cache type breakdown Link to all geocache hides Trackables: (No issues here - it works.) List of Trackable types discovered or moved by kind ~ Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables List of trackable types owned ~ Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables Souvenirs: (Overrated and have been watered down with things like the 31 days of Geocaching. I would not shed a tear if these went away all together.) Gallery: (While nice, has largely become a gallery of folks posting stats for challenges. I'll post "real" photos every now and then, but I only look at someone else's gallery if I'm a.) Confirming they qualify for my challenge B.) think they hid somethign in their gallery for a Puzzle Lists: (I don't see a need for this on the Profiles at all - I access my own lists in other manners and the only time I'm looking at someone else's list if through a particular cache page and the lists that the particular cache is associated with.) Statistics: (MOST important thing to me - but again, the stats here from geocaching.com are lacking in creativity. The kinds of stats I can pull from GSAK is exciting to me, and even http://project-gc.com/ has been significant progress in showing fantastic stats.) The "public" stats are too long and should follow the lead of GSAK with FSG or Project GC and allow for tabs to break the stats down into sections. +Kiwi Nomad
Please make the aviator image bigger again like it used to be. Would be nice to see how many caches/events the person has placed. No other changes I can think of quickly. Link to comment
+funkymunkyzone
I would like to second NeverSummer's comment on validated accounts with email addresses, although I know that goes further than just the cosmetic look and feel of the profile page. I would like the option to display the number of DNFs. I am just as proud of the number of DNF logs I have posted as I am about the number of Finds - DNFs, after all, contribute significantly to my geocaching history and experiences. Some of my most memorable geocaching adventures were DNFs. Possibly even to be able to optionally display the list of DNF logs on my profile, so long as people have the option, as with statistics, to not display them. Link to comment
+L0ne.R
1. What do you use the bio box for? To point people to my geocaching and geoswag blog. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? No. Not important. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? Their Last Visit date. When posting an NA I like to double check the last visit date to see if the cache has been abandoned. 4. ---- Profile: Avatar image (like it....could be a little larger) Find count (it's fine) Trackables logged count (don't care one way or the other) Send message to e-mail (keep it) 'Member since:' (keep it - shows longevity and commitment to the game, also historical value) Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…) (keep it)~ Link to give gift membership (keep it) Location Last visit to website (keep it - important to determine if a cache owner is still active) Send a friend request (only shows when viewing someone else’s profile, not your own) (don't care one way or the other, I never use this) See forum posts (keep it - there are some active forumites that I occasionally want to see what they've commented on lately) Geocaches: Finds by cache type breakdown Link to all geocache finds (For privacy reasons I think the 'All Geocache Finds' link should be optional. The list hands anyone a handy chronological list of where a cacher has been. I like to keep my geocaching daily activity somewhat private and feel it should be my perogative to share where I've been.) Hides by cache type breakdown (That's OK, but I wouldn't mind it being private too. I'd be more eager to cache with family/friends/co-workers if it were private) Link to all geocache hides (Important. Keep it.) Trackables: (page looks fine to me) Souvenirs: (page looks fine to me - not one I look at much) Gallery: Image gallery starting with most recent (fine) Multiple pages (an option to show more photos per page) If image is attached to geocache log, GC code is listed (that would be nice) Clicking image opens bigger view that links to log page/edit Lists:(page looks fine to me) Link to comment
+L0ne.R
Profile: Find count (it's fine) Changed my mind about Find count. I think there is too much emphasis on the numbers. The find count should be a ballpark figure. Perhaps ranges: 0-100 100-500 500-1000 1000 or more Perhaps an option. Some cachers may want a specific number displayed. The default could be the ranges. Most people want to see other people's find count so they can judge whether they are experienced enough. Their ballpark figure plus "Member since" date should suffice. Link to comment
Stompy
I think the order of tabs should be 1. Profile 2. Geocache 3. Gallery 4. Trackables 5. Souvenirs Although I'm not interested in the last 2 but others may be. On order of importance to me of the profile tab is here. 1 Send message to e-mail 2 Find count 3 Avatar image 4 Location 5 'Member since:' 6 Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…) 7 Last visit to website 8 Send a friend request (only shows when viewing someone else’s profile, not your own) 9 See forum posts 10 Trackables logged count 11 ~ Link to give gift membership When I visit another persons profile it is usually to be able to contact them so in addtion to email, I'd like to be able to detail my social media accounts with a link to them e.g. facebook, Twitter, Google+, Flickr, you tube etc. I use the BIO box to past html link to the Project GC stat page. I currently don't post banners but I have done in the past I think having the HTML area is vitally important feature of the profile page. Now that most people use facebook the forums are less used, so I don't think you need the link to forum posts now. I also like to visit the user gallery but you can only view larger images a page at a time I'd just like to start at the begining and go through them all. I'd like to be able to put a comment against an image which is then emailed to the owner. I like to see an image of the person, some sort of profile photo album would be nice. I don't think that the icon for premium status is very bold. How many people know that premium members have a yellow icon and general users have a grey icon - too subtle. Link to comment
+Team Microdot
Thanks for providing us with this opportunity to provide our input - kudos! 1. What do you use the bio box for? I have a full set of HTML based personal stats in there compiled by a third party utility that I've been using since before GC incorporated stats into our profiles. For the time being I maintain this page even though it duplicates some of the information present on the GC provided stats - because there are other stats that I like to see there which currently don't feature in the GC stats 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? No. I don't like untidy clutter so these banners / badges are not for me. I like the souvenirs provided by GC because they are all the same size and nice and neat 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? It's sometimes useful to be able to look at the hide and finds that a cachers has under their belt as a means to understand their experience to date as the basis for any dialogue with them. I do like to see photographs that cachers have uploaded - always nice to put faces to names and also useful for spotting interesting caches / locations to visit. 4. Below you will find all the functionality that the page currently offers. Place the items in a stack ranked list of priority. Things that are most important to you should be at the top. Let us know if there is anything missing from the list. What information isn’t necessary on the page? What is taking up screen space that shouldn’t be? What do you not find useful? Profile: Avatar image this is important but largely useless now since it became just too small to see anything properly! Send message to e-mail 100% verified email for all members please - the caches we place cost time and money and deserve that degree of respect / protection 'Member since:' Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…) Last visit to website I use this and the date of their last cache find when deciding if Needs Archive is warranted. EDIT TO ADD - also an indicator of whether or not this person is at least aware that a website WHICH EXPLAINS HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED PROPERLY exists - although obviously it can't tell whether they've actually read any of the guidelines / knowledgebase articles Find count See forum posts Geocaches: Link to all geocache finds Link to all geocache hides Finds by cache type breakdown Hides by cache type breakdown Gallery: A slideshow feature would be a cool way to view image galleries Image gallery starting with most recent Multiple pages If image is attached to geocache log, GC code is listed Clicking image opens bigger view that links to log page/edit Trackables: List of trackable types owned Sometimes there's (cough] extra useful information to be found here *wink*~ Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables Lists: List of all public bookmark lists Statistics: Statistics that have been made public on geocaching.com/my/statistics.aspx EDIT TO ADD: Why not track the KB articles that a cacher has read - and 'rank' them on this basis on their profile? This might encourage investment in and value of learning by 'rewarding' knowledge with 'level-ups'. I realise these rankings would offer no guarantees - people could just visit the pages and leave without reading anything at all - but encouraging knowledge and learning can only be a good thing? +T.D.M.22
I'm sure most of what I want is said already. Personally I don't care about my stats being visible or not. What I would like is the ability to message other cachers. Those that just use the app will not know what they need to, nor will probably even see events that are aimed at them, so being able to contact them is good. I would like to see the last visited updated. I'm Canadian and I've found maybe 2 caches in the last 4 months. That doesn't mean I not active- maybe have the last visited include use of the app or forums, or maybe even last time they logged a cache (from an app) Link to comment
cezanne
1. What do you use the bio box for? I do not use it. Edit: I realized too late what is meant with bio box. It's the field where I write about my caching preferences and link to caches I have hidden with another cacher. I have thought of this as profile information and not as a bio box. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? No, irrelevant for me. (Edit: They are indeed very popular in some European countries like my own country and lots of cachers are proud to have banners for special cachers in their profile.) 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? Enjoy: information on their caching preferences. Look up for other reasons than enjoying: caches found, hidden, trackables owned, last visit to website (even if it does not mean much) 4. Below you will find all the functionality that the page currently offers. What information isn’t necessary on the page? What is taking up screen space that shouldn’t be? What do you not find useful? By far the most important for my own profile: The free text where I can provide my caching preferences and information about how I write logs. I do not care about the order in which the items you listed are ordered. I have used most of them, except for the statistics page which I neither can see nor have any interest into it. +Tanjent
1. What do you use the bio box for? I use it to give a short intro to myself and why I'm involved in geocaching. I've also included links to various third-party statistics generators (I've used GSAK macro output & mygeocachingprofile in the past - currently using project-gc). 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? Not exactly sure what this means. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? While I'm in no way hung up on or competitive about the numbers, I enjoy seeing detailed statistics for my and other's finds. I think it's interesting to see, for instance, if someone has done most of their caching locally or in far-away places, if they're the type to attempt challenges, etc. Profile: Last visit to website <---- This is VERY useful - lots of inactive folks out there Send message to e-mail <---- We need this to work for all accounts, please. Trackables logged count <---- Also meh. See forum posts <---- There's not many people I know who have ever posted (or read even?) here Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…) <---- Not at all important to me~ Link to give gift membership Geocaches: Link to all geocache hides <--- I find this quite useful Link to all geocache finds <--- Occasionally interesting, but more useful to see their stats. Finds by cache type breakdown <--- Never use it. Hides by cache type breakdown <--- Never use it. Statistics: <---- This is something I enjoy. I would like to see your stats page beefed up -- showing counties per state, for instance. See any of the 3rd party stat engines for ideas... or even better, incorporate the one you own! Gallery: Image gallery starting with most recent <---- I enjoy this on occasion If image is attached to geocache log, GC code is listed <---- Helpful Clicking image opens bigger view that links to log page/edit <---- Helpful Multiple pages <---- I'd rather see a "staged loading" feature like the cache logs. Lists: List of all public bookmark lists <---- Can be useful for challenges, cache series, etc. List of all caches that user has awarded a favorite point <---- Might be occasionally interesting. Trackables: <---- I really don't care about seeing the trackables someone else has found. Souvenirs: <---- I really don't care about souvenirs. +South Lyon Trekkers
1. What do you use the bio box for? I use the bio box to post stats I generate from GSAK. I have had to play around with GSAK to get some other, added information included. I would like to see two or three bio boxes so I don't have to repost all the information. GSAK stats are a large amount of HTML and I don't like to go back through it to add other things. I just post what GSAK generates. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? No How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? Not at all. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? Stats. I like to see what others are doing and how then went about achieving different goals that may be similar to mine. 4. Below you will find all the functionality that the page currently offers. What information isn’t necessary on the page? What is taking up screen space that shouldn’t be? What do you not find useful? Did I miss something? Moving these items around to respond is not user-friendly. For Profile, I like all that is there. The only thing I do not care about is seeing forum posts. Location, at least state and country, should be automatic. For Geocaches, I like all that is there. For Trackables, I am fine with the information, but the list become so long. It would help if there were tabs (user created?) to help sort trackables. For Souvenirs, consistency in name the souvenirs would be nice. The ones that occur each year are not formatted the same and sometimes are not in order. Separate tabs would be nice too, maybe to sort the state ones and events and special days. For Gallery, the date the picture is posted should automatically match the date of the log. For Lists, tabs are necessary. ALL my favorites are listed before my bookmarks. That's a lot scrolling. For Statistics, I like them and I want more. Link to comment

+niraD
1. What do you use the bio box for?Right now, I use it for: a personal photo (now that the profile photo feature is gone) the proper pronunciation of my geocaching name an explanation of my personal signature tokens a couple paragraphs about me and geocaching (including a link to my milestones bookmark list, since they differ somewhat from the milestones on my Statistics tab; see this suggestion I posted) a couple paragraphs about my life outside geocaching a banner for our local geocaching organization (now a 501(c)3 organization) the standard stats bar image provided by geocaching.com (And it looks like I should spend some time updating it. Thanks for the reminder.) 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? No, I don't display banners from caches or events on my profile, but I do display other banners and images (see above). I have no particular desire to display banners from caches or events on my profile, but I do like displaying other images on my profile, especially the personal photo and the banner for the local geocaching organization. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? When I view someone else's profile, I'm usually most interested in sending them email, or in seeing where they are (the "Location" field), or in seeing who they are (mostly outside of geocaching, not within geocaching). I generally ignore their stats (whether from the Statistics tab or embedded in their profile from GSAK or Project Geocaching or wherever). I'm interested in whether they're local (or whether they used to be local but moved away). And I'm interested in other things, like whether they're hockey fans, or equestrians, or kayakers, or parents, or backpackers, or artists, or gamers, or whatever. Sometimes I'll look at the caches/events someone has listed, especially if they own a cache/event that I particularly enjoyed. And sometimes I look at other stuff, for example, to see what states/countries someone has logged, or to check out the photos in their gallery. Place the items in a stack ranked list of priority. Things that are most important to you should be at the top. Let us know if there is anything missing from the list. What information isn’t necessary on the page? What is taking up screen space that shouldn’t be? What do you not find useful? Here you go. Take it with a hearty pinch of salt, and a sprinkling of IMHO. I haven't experimented much with the new Advanced Search feature; once I do, that may affect my ranking of some of the profile features. Items that are very important: Profile - Send message to e-mail Profile - Last visit to website Missing - Last access (including apps, API, forum) Missing - Profile Information (Bio) Missing - Personal photo (optional) Profile - Location Profile - 'Member since:' Geocaches - Finds by cache type breakdown (on my own profile, since this feature doesn't seem to be available as part of my private profile) Geocaches - Link to all geocache hides Gallery - Multiple pages (you can't just dump them all into a single page!) Items that are somewhat important: Lists - List of all caches that user has awarded a favorite point Gallery - Image gallery starting with most recent Gallery - Clicking image opens bigger view that links to log page/edit Profile - Avatar image Profile - See forum posts Profile - Find count Profile - Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…) Geocaches - Link to all geocache finds Geocaches - Hides by cache type breakdown Geocaches - Finds by cache type breakdown (on others' profiles) Statistics - Statistics that have been made public on geocaching.com/my/statistics.aspx Trackables - List of Trackable types discovered or moved by kind ~ Trackables - Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables (discovered or moved) Trackables - List of trackable types owned ~ Trackables - Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables (owned) Souvenirs - List of souvenirs earned ~ Souvenirs - Icons link to specific souvenir page Lists - List of all public bookmark lists (some bookmark lists are very important because they work around the limited search capabilities of the site, but in general, seeing a person's bookmark lists is irrelevant unless you're trying to complete the same challenge caches or something like that) Items that are unnecessary: Profile - Trackables logged count ~ Profile - Link to give gift membership Profile - Send a friend request (would be higher if the Friends feature were actually useful) Souvenirs - Date souvenir was acquired (would be higher if the date always matched the date of the qualifying log, rather than sometimes being the date the log was posted) Gallery - If image is attached to geocache log, GC code is listed Link to comment
+pelagori
i used to use the bio area on my own profile to display my stats. stats are now an official feature on the page elsewhere, so at this point i don't see the need for it. when i visit another user's profile, i want to find out about them. generally this is prompted by a DNF on one of my caches. knowing their found count, member since, last visited, account status, home location - all valuable - helps me determine the likelihood of maintenance being required, and how to communicate with them. showing the home country for all users would help. lots of tourists visit my NYC home. seeing activity from the apps: paid and free - would be good. "last visited on this date, using the free trial app". should define a criteria for a "no longer active" account - say no activity at all for 3 (or 6?) months. change the account status to "retired" and change the background color in some way so these users' profiles stand out. this would have to take into account activity on the apps as well as website. removing the ability to see all of a user's finds (as one comment suggests) would affect the ability to complete some fun puzzle caches which involve finding the coordinates for a set of early 2000/2001 archived caches. these can only be discovered by trawling hides and finds for early cachers from that period. ability to see a user's DNFs as well as their finds would be helpful. i echo the request to remove accounts whose email addresses are not validated within a certain timeframe. most frequently i visit a user profile in preparation to contacting them... has to be a way to be able to do that. generally i don't look at other user's trackables, souvenirs, or lists Link to comment
+niraD
The find count should be a ballpark figure. Perhaps ranges: 0-100 100-500 500-1000 1000 or more I like that idea. Some forums have range-based ranks like that. Here's an example, an adapted mashup of multiple lists: 0 - Spectator 1-9 - Rookie Geocacher 10-24 - Beginning Geocacher 25-99 - Novice Geocacher 100-249 - Geocacher 250-999 - Senior Geocacher 1000-2499 - Expert Geocacher 2500-9999 - Master Geocacher 10000+ - Geocaching Fanatic Edited February 26, 2015 by niraD Link to comment
cezanne
Most people want to see other people's find count so they can judge whether they are experienced enough. Their ballpark figure plus "Member since" date should suffice. The issue I have with that is that I wish to display a list of the caches someone has found (probably the most important thing for me at all when it comes to certain cachers) and then it makes no sense to hide their number or to provide an interval only. +cerberus1
What do you use the bio box for?Tell a bit about ourselves (maybe a bit wordy), including interests other than cachingOur "cached in" map's there. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? No. I think it's too busy. Definitely do without. My old access would time out on some of those profiles. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles?I often look at location for those with similar interests, and I'd really like to see a validated email if I need to contact them.Sometimes the gallery if someone mentions a cool spot, and trackables if a question's posted on the forums. +Fugads
1. What do you use the bio box for? Currently not too much, just for displaying a profile picture (like we used to ahve before an update that happened around a year ago) and a few hyperlinks to my geocaching blog and other geocaching sites that I enjoy. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? I suppose I have a sort of banner on my profile page, one that links to my Lonelycacheproject stats. This was added because I enjoyed that website, but I wouldn't be heart broken if I wasn't able to display it on my profile page. I'm sure I could find another way to provide links/info to other geocaching sites that I like. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? What I enjoy most is seeing what other geocachers have found and reading good found logs and seeing pictures they have posted, particularly of geocachers who are also friends. If there was an easier to do this, it would be pretty swell. Occasionally, when I find a geocacher that leaves really nice logs, I go through their finds and see what other adventures they write about. Getting a sense of other geocahers through there stories and pictures is what I enjoy most. What is most used by me is kind of a separate question, but maybe that is really what is being asked here. Most often I view other cachers pages to send them a note, or after they find some of my hides so as to get a feeling for who they are. I also like to browse through the hides/finds of other geocachers that have a style that appeals to me. Profile: Avatar image Last visit to website Could be replaced by a better feature which indicates geocacher activity. Something like Red: not active for over 6 months, Yellow: NOt active for over a month, Green: Active within the last month. Activity could be defined by visiting website, posting on forums, leaving a log on a geocache (found, DNF, Owner Maintenance etc...) Send message to e-mail Find count Would be fun to also see DNF count here. Trackables logged count 'Member since:' Status of account (Premium, Lackey, etc…)~ Link to give gift membership See forum posts I would love to see a little more content on the initial profile page, something like Recent geocaches found and also recent photos. Kind of fits with my enjoyment of seeing what other geocachers have been up to, and you could tell at a glance if it looks like you might want to dig deeper. I imagine you would then click on the link and be taken either to the geocachers recent finds, or their photo gallery for a quick browse. Location I see this information being better gleaned from the lcoation of one's latest finds. IN fact, I'd rather see something dynamic in that vein, something like Location of Last Found Geocache. Send a friend request (only shows when viewing someone else’s profile, not your own) Unless the functionality of this changes in some way, I don't see this as being that necessary or useful. Geocaches: Finds by cache type breakdown (It would be cool to also see DNFs, maybe note by cache type, but just in general) Link to all geocache finds Hides by cache type breakdown Link to all geocache hides I'd love to see something similar to what you get when look at your recent geocaches found in your home page (not the public profile). Basically a rolling list of all your logs with the text of the logs as well. I suppose many would find this too creepy/intrusive, but for me this is part of your geocaching story and I enjoy looking at this kind of information. Maybe also, it would encourage people to write a little more in their logs if their logs were more visible on their profile pages. Probably not, but one can hope. Gallery: Image gallery starting with most recent Multiple pages If image is attached to geocache log, GC code is listed Clicking image opens bigger view that links to log page/edit Just an off the cuff thought, but it would be cool if I could flag some of my pictures in my gallery as being my "favorites" and then be able to see your favotire pictures or someone else's favorite pictures. Trackables: List of Trackable types discovered or moved by kind~ Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables List of trackable types owned A little more breakdown would be nice here, specifically: Trackables in collection/home Trackables on the move (in hands of other geocachers) Trackables in caches Missing trackables Clicking on any of the above categories would then provide a list of types of trackables (ie coins, tags and other icons)~ Icons link to search list filtered to those Trackables Statistics: Statistics that have been made public on geocaching.com/my/statistics.aspx Allow users an option/place to put in html for their own favorite stats collector (ie GSAK). I know people love to put this info on their immediate profile page, but I'd rather they put all this extra stat info on their stats tab. I will click there if I am interested in their stats. Also, since users can opt to not have their regular stats shown, perhaps they could have an option for only showing the stats from whatever app/website they prefer. No need to have duplicate stats information. Lists: List of all caches that user has awarded a favorite point List of all public bookmark lists Souvenirs: Placed last since I see it as the least useful thing for a public profile. List of souvenirs earned~ Icons link to specific souvenir page Date souvenir was acquired Thanks for listening . Link to comment
+geodarts
Bio Box: I use this to give a nod to caches that are my personal favorites (best virtual that has been archived, best trip combining darts and caching, best cache at my favorite abandoned building, etc). Or to tell people what I want them to know about me. There used to be a more defined place to put a personal picture on the page. I was surprised when it was removed, but since it is easy to add photos with html, I did not miss it for very long. Banners: I would not use any banners or stats on my profile. I do have a small earthcache discovery award at the bottom, but that is as far as I want to take it. I once created a "Juche" badge with a picture of the Young Marshall on it as a comment on the whole thing, but took it down after a day. It was just as well. Other Profiles: Stats, bars, graphs, etc. are of no interest to me. I enjoy it when a profile says something unique. I usually go to profiles to see current photos (people that I know who take good pictures) or simply as a step to contact an earthcache or virtual cache CO. Functionality: For my profile, I have kept my stats private and hidden all the souvenirs. It would be nice if I could simply eliminate these tabs. I would choose to hide the list of found caches, at least beyond 30 days of when it has been posted to this site. In general, I can't imagine that anyone would have enough time to care what trackables I found or what caches I logged in 2006. But if someone did care, I would opt for more privacy rather than less. Judging by other threads, some people would take it further than I do and hide found caches altogether. It might be interesting to have levels of privacy - to allow friends greater access than the general public. As it is, I don't understand the friend function at all. With the Gallery, I would like a function to create different albums to organize the pictures. There are some photos I take just to log a virtual. There are others that are taken because there was a particular photo op, using special equipment, or because the cache cried out for a picture of a ghost, a Cryptid, or Aura Raines. Some are taken at trads, others at earthcaches or virtuals; some show friends, others show something I am interested in. There are favorites. Albums would be a fun way to make sense of it all. IN fact, I'd rather see something dynamic in that vein, something like Location of Last Found Geocache.Interesting. I'm usually more interested in someone's "home base" than in their latest geocaching activity. There are exceptions of course, but usually I want to know where they're from, not where they've been recently. Just an off the cuff thought, but it would be cool if I could flag some of my pictures in my gallery as being my "favorites" and then be able to see your favotire pictures or someone else's favorite pictures.I like that idea. So many of my photos are more about the trackable or the virtual cache or something else utilitarian. It would be nice to highlight the ones I'd recommend others see. +thomfre
I really don't like the fact that you might be considering removing functionality. I hope that doesn't happen. 1. What do you use the bio box for? I use it to display a text about who I am, where I'm from and when I started geocaching. I also use it for information I think could be useful for people wanting to contact me. Since we lost the profile photo some time ago, I've added my own to the bio box. I need this box. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? I display a BadgeGen bar from Project-GC, and my earthcache awards. I would be a bit sad if the ability to do this would go away. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? Add me to the list - seems a sensible option - if possible / practical - to facilitate users in choosing a stats combination that suits them, but placing all of that on a single tab so that it's easy to find in a logical place for others who might want to browse said stats. Equally, retain the option to display no stats at all for those who prefer to keep their stats private. Heck - there could even be a visibility radio button to control who could see one's stats i.e. 1) Just me 2) Me and my friends 3) Everyone Link to comment

+TriciaG
Not looking at any other posts before I submit mine... 1. What do you use the bio box for? Customization of the page; right now I have my DNF count in there (to display after my find and trackables count) 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile? No. On others' profiles, I find these annoying - some take a long time to load, and some profile pages are SO full of this junk that it's like someone's image folder vomited all over their page. I'd love to see these banners, etc. placed under a new tab so the main profile page is cleaner! EDIT TO ADD: Same with statistics posted from 3rd party sites. Put 'em in a different tab rather than in the bio box, please! 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? Functionality is my motto. Their last sign-in date, their last cache found date, where their caches are placed (if they don't say where they're from on the main page, I look at their hidden caches to see their location), how long they've been caching, etc. 4. Below you will find all the functionality that the page currently offers. List to follow. Some comments: Friend feature: It might just be me, but I don't use the "friend" feature. While I have 3 "friends," I haven't seen any value in it - I can't tell just what additional functionality I have with it. Trackables: I don't use the Trackables tab very much; usually there are so many TBs listed and so many different types, one cannot find what one is looking for anyway without looking at all the types. Could there be a "List all trackables Found/Owned" like with caches, regardless of type? Then we could look for the name, or sort by last action date, or something. Souvenirs: I never look at others' Souvenirs. Gallery: It would be nice if, when you're in the larger view and you get to the last image on the page, it would keep going rather than stall out. As it is now, you have to close the large view, page forward to the next page of images, then reopen the large view. (This is true on the gallery for TBs and cache pages, too.) My rankings: Profile: Last visit to website Send message to e-mail - If only this worked for everyone... Easier to track down missing TBs that way. Souvenirs: These can go away, IMHO Gallery: (did not rank) If image is attached to geocache log, GC code is listed - WHAT? It IS??? Where??? +st3phan
Hello Seattle! Here are my suggestions: First at all, there should be more possibilities to set up the profilepage. Turn settings on or off. Profile: o Is it interesting to show the number of members posts? The link to the forum should not appear, if there are no posts. o New idea: Show an indicator of personal preferences/interests in cachetype, D-score, T-score? This could be displayed using up to five 'stars', like we do for listings. This should be accessible if the member turns this function on, like milestones i.e. Example: o In the bio-box I don't like additional statistics, which often consist of a lot of HTML code. This makes the page hard to load. Often it takes very long time when using a mobile phone, while contacting cache owners via the 'send-message-link'. o Banners: Banners are becoming more popular and important for memebers! They like to collect them, like souvenirs and milestones. There should be an extra function for this. (In the menu between souvenirs and photos). It should be possible for each owner to store a banner in each listing. The banners will be displayed in an extra page in the profile like the souvenirs. Predefined banner sizes should be used (i.e. small - medium - large). Geocaches = OK Trackables = OK Souvenirs = OK - put here "banner / Badges" like souvenirs Photos = Function is OK, o I think there are smarter ways to display the gallery. I.e. some kind of timeline per month. Just When Clicking an image, show the details. Lists = OK o please put bookmarks on top over favorites. While displaying a large number of favorites, the bookmarks are hard to find at the end of the page. Statistic: o please implement a second bio-box here, to save third party statistics. o add link to edit setup for statistics, while displaying my own statistic. Like you do the first page (profile) (link= ... account/settings/profile) / Thanks a lot for improving this game! / st3phan Link to comment
jholly
Allow users an option/place to put in html for their own favorite stats collector (ie GSAK). No need to have duplicate stats information.I like that idea too. A lot of people are into custom stats, but it would be nice if they could be on the stats tab rather than on the main profile. +1 Link to comment
+niraD
Just an off the cuff thought, but it would be cool if I could flag some of my pictures in my gallery as being my "favorites" and then be able to see your favotire pictures or someone else's favorite pictures.I like that idea. So many of my photos are more about the trackable or the virtual cache or something else utilitarian. It would be nice to highlight the ones I'd recommend others see.Related to this, it would be nice if I could associate an uploaded photo with multiple things. As an example, if I meet someone at an event and we both have trackable items (my hiking staff, their T-shirt or name badge or whatever), then I upload the photo of us to my attended log, to my trackable item's visit log, and to my discover log for their trackable item. Now my gallery shows three copies of the same image. It would be nice if I could upload the image once (e.g., to the attended log), and then instead of uploading it to the other logs, I could use some sort of "select photo from gallery" feature to associate the existing photo with the other logs. Edit to add link to feature suggestion thread. Edited February 26, 2015 by niraD Link to comment

+Gill & Tony
I'll post a more detailed reply when I'm at my computer, but I would really like to see the souvenirs and statistics tabs modified so each has 3 options. 1. Do not display anything here 2. Display the standard Groundspeak data 3. Display my customised data. If option 3 was selected a box would open for the user to enter their customised data, similar to the current Bio Box. For all three of these boxes (Bio Box, souvenirs box & stats box) there should be an approved and documented way to update them automatically either via an API call or via an approved executable program. +Zop
1. What do you use the bio box for? I primarily use it to display my stats from a GSAK macro. 2. Okay, I knew this function had to be here in the forums somewhere, but I had no idea where to find it. If it were more discoverable here in the forums, then it would be needed less on the profile page. So, without further ado... First, find a post made by the user. Then click on the little icon to the right of the user's name; a pop-up window will appear. Then click on the "Find My Content" icon near the bottom of the pop-up window. Et voilà! +tomanoble
Hey there! The Product Development Team is considering options for updating the profile page and we would like your help. We know that this is a well visited page and that's why we want to hear feedback from you about how you use it, what's missing from it, and what isn't necessary. Although we will most likely be updating the look and feel of the page, we would like to retain the functionality and make it easy for you to view the content that is most important to you. FIX IT SO PICTURES WORK ALL THE TIME ON ALL THE SITE!!! Return the Bio Picture to its old size. 1. What do you use the bio box for? Putting up GSAK statistics and geo badges from whatever program does those. Don't update too frequently since geocaching.com stats are more up to date. 2. Do you display banners from caches or events on your profile? How important is it to you that you are able to display these on your profile?NO! To both questions. Although I can why people would do banners for Mega events they attended. 3. What do you most enjoy looking at on others' profiles? Last time visited, their stats, sending messages.
