-Recently one of the ten pens in my hello kitty purse stabbed through. As I walked all day around kohls, my purse was swinging back and forth, writing all over my shorts. All day I walked around like this...

(No the pen did not rip my shorts, that was already a part of the outfit haha)

 

OMG! I've done that too. Usually, you can see me walking around with dried playdough on my rear, and colorful paint under my fingernails...job hazard.

 

In response to the post someone else had about programming in basic...I used to be able to do that, plus pascal, cobol and fortran on TRS-80's...I was 1 of only 6 (1 of only 2 girls) that took Computer Sci 2 in high school. All of the geology students used to bug me for help with their required computer class.

 

In response to the coin club...the only coins I collect now are geocoin. I have some coin sets from back in the day. We found lots of cool stuff with the metal detector...coins, rings...the most intersting thing (found by my dad) was gold teeth.

huh..... I still can not believe how I didn't see it.....

 

My sister and my brother in law came one night to take me and go eat outside, in a chinese restaurant!

 

I was dressed... and actually put some new clothes I had bought a couple of days ago!

 

the restaurant was not full but there were 5-6 families....

 

I was happy, I was joking but I realised that the other families were looking at me... too....

 

then I saw it too!!! huh!!!!!! I was wearing my polo t-shirt upside down... and you could see it.... plus that I had forgoten to cut one of the labels that had as new!!!! my sister and my brother in law didn;t realise from the beggining but when they saw it.... they started laughing loudly... oh boy.... WC was ocupied so I went outside...and weared the polo t-shirt normaly this time.... yes... I also cut the label!!! I was so red from shame....

 

everyone surelly thought I am a geek!!! huh!

Ok... time for my todays post!!!

 

while I was writing to LB I realised that geeky part of me...

 

I love collecting all the info I can find for the geocoins I have in my collection! Mintage, who made it, the company, the versions....

This is waht I do for coins I do not know a lot... (real coins) or in banknotes, in militaria, token, medal etc... actually for almost all the things I collect! If that doesn't sound so geeky.... here is an other thing....

 

I know all the things that are in my room... and how they are placed! I can understand when my mother or anyone else went inside... took or moved something or cleaned! many times I asked my mother is she entered to clean and to tease me she was saying no... but I had proofs to show her.... which things she moved.. etc!!!! once... when I didn't have many coins... I told to my mother that I know every one of them... she didn't believe me... and I made a challenge... (remember.. I didn't have many coins...(not geocoins!!)... there were about 500 -1000 only...)I left her alone to rick a coin from my collection while I was out of the room! I was keeping the coins in a metal box... they were not seperated etc... when I came back... I took a look and in less than a minute I told her which coin she had in her hands!!!

 

A friend of mine used to have an antique shop... when I was visiting him I was looking the coins he had for sale and I was asking him about hte ones they were missing! I know more of what he had... that he knew!!! hahahaha!

 

ok... and something to end.... if I see something I memorize it easily!!! that is why I do not have problems by saying my ID number, my insurance number my tax number....etc! plus that I can do that in other things... while I was out with the rest team... in a tavern (celebration for winning the local championship) I made my coach to be socked!! we were paying the bill all... every one his part... (we are not a rich team!!) and I gave a 20 euro banknote while I was expecting change....

he wanted to tease me... and he said that I didn't gave any money.... so I said the serial number of the note to him!!! he was socked! I was about 90% correct!!!! well... I was examine the note for a long time in my home... for different code letters, plate numbers etc... but he didn't know that! I can not do that to anything... anymore!!! this happent 11 years ago!!! My mind now is getting rusty.... I think!

 

anyway.... I do not feel I am a geek... maybe I have or do some strange (for others) things, but... who doesn't??

Our friends own a comic book store on Park Ave in Rochester (Park Ave Comics and Games). Tomorrow is park ave fest.. a big street festival with vendors, artists, music, and local businesses. Tomorrow my day will be spent sitting at a table surrounded by Comic Book characters and artists. Not sure what we're gonna be dressed like yet this year.

 

Last year my husband went all steam punk. Our Friend who owns the store was Robbin. This is a picture of them with our friend Jon who stopped by.

 

Here's another photo of me doing post it note sketches of covers of comics. I was bored and started sketching.. and people actually started offering me money for them...lol. You can't see it but I'm wearing a Posion Ivy Shirt.

Is it geeky... that I still have my first toy car in perfect condition....(no, I am not playing with it!) and in my mother's island you can see my first bicycle.... which had the shape of an airplane of Olympic Airways??? It is almost new too! some stickers are off or almost off and the metal parts are rusty but this can be easily fixed!

 

Well... I was playing with them but even as a baby... I was not destroying my toys!! I was very careful!

 

Also.. (since this is the last post here... the cointest is ending...) is it geeky that At the age of 3.... I was in all the Greek newspapers.... local or the Athenian ones... holding hands with the Rpime minister of Greece at that time??? (Konstantinow Karamanlis the older.... back in 1978)! I saw him and went close to him to tell him that I know him from the TV... and I told him how he was beggining his speaches... with Hellines Hellinides psifiste nea Dimokratia (greeks (women and men) vote New Democracy - the name of his political party!!!!)

 

do not start wondering... how in the age of 3 I could speak and do all that.... I was even able to read the big letters of the newspapers... and understand what they were saying! I could also write some words, understand the numbers and the letters... I could tell and write them.... so the first year in scholl... it was borring....

 

I wish I could scan the pieces of the newspapers I kept... with the photo.... but I can not!

the funny is that the reporters thought that I was 5!!! I am wondering why!!! hahahahaha

 

BTW.... it was Holy Thursday... so my parents had been to the butcher to take the lamb for Easter! Prime Minister came close and sheked hands with my father!!! My dad was a little socked... in one hand he was holding the hand of the PM and on the other... the bag with the lamb!!! (no, he was lucky! no photos with that!!) Well.. me and PM continued our walk together for a while and then I went back to my parents! the next day everyone was looking at me and was smilling!!! I was in the front page of most of the newspapers! :laughing:

Well...I waited too long to get in on this. I procrastinated in pulling out my class pics from elementary school (back in the 70s-80s). Styles were horrid back then...I am seen wearing plaid pants, etc. Oh well...I couldn't find them, so I had to try something else.

 

I have started a collection of sorts. I like to take pictures of signs that have errors on them. They tend to make me laugh. I know, I know...proof-reading signs makes me kind of a geek, but isn't that the point here?? LOL! Ok...here is a sampling of the signs I have found:

This is a self-storage business in my town. Whom should I call if the sign is broken?

Our family are big Harry Potter geeks. We've seen the latest movie only twice so far, but all of the other 7 movies we would have seen at least 20 times each (both at the movies and on DVD/TV)!!!

 

We have all read all the books, including the 3 supplementary books.

 

Michael has Harry Potter glasses and a wand (toy, electronic Harry Potter one) and would often get dressed up in a pointed wizards hat, cap and black clothing.

 

Oh, and did I mention that occasionally Michael and I will start dueling throwing spells, hexes and curses (from the movies) at each other.

 

Now we just need to win the lottery so we take a huge family trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida.... sigh...

Well...I waited too long to get in on this. I procrastinated in pulling out my class pics from elementary school (back in the 70s-80s). Styles were horrid back then...I am seen wearing plaid pants, etc. Oh well...I couldn't find them, so I had to try something else.

We have been to all of the midnight book release parties, including the one that conflicted with MWGB...cute little bookstore in Indiana. We have also been to the opening nights of all the movies, except the last one...we were on vacation and it broke my heart that we could not go. Right now, we are in the process of rewatching Harry Potter from the beginning...because Heather has finally expressed an interest in it...and, although she has seen most of the movies, she was too young to remember most of them.

hahahahaha where did that "H" go.... well... it is shoking!!! but... english is just a foreign language to me!!!

I wrote it... closer to greek (actualy greeklish) than to english!

 

*** greeklish is a way of writing greek but in latin letters... it is quicker.. but not so nice... I find it difficult to understand or read what they write... so many greek forums including the greek geocaching forum doesn't allow it!

 

on the other hand.... I found socking translated as a punch..... a hit!

Um, i'm not sure how to say this, but .....I think some of you are getting a little confused with your labels.

I've never had this happen to me. However, in middle school, one of my "friends" found a "school portrait" picture of some girl and stuck it on me....was there all day....ugh...

Oh, and I just thought of the geekiest thing I do... I code html using RAW HTML - that's right - notepad is my html entry application!

 

Sigh... I remember back in the mid-90's when I was updating my old employers website (GNS Science) each time there was a volcanic eruption or volcanic seismic activity - as at that point in time Mt Ruapehu was erupting and no one had thought of using the web as a vehicle to get that information out to the public - and I was the only one who was even interested in doing so. Man we use to get some hits to the website once word got out about it. Use to have to jump onto the UNIX box and manually write the webpages, with a bit of cutting and pasting of information from a Windows 95 machine. Lots of experimentation required to get the layout just right! Ah, the good old days.

Hahaha, Keewee, notepad rocks! Well, I have upgraded to editpad... Mostly for upgraded (wouldn't say advanced) file handling + search and replace. I remember once in my youth, I wanted to write a thesis for school in HTML (notepad) rather than word, just because it was more fun.

hehe! I got my sticker yesterday...my oldest son came into the house with the mail asking if I knew someone called 'Lepovetsky' He had a chuckle at your expense I'm afraid. Of course our last name is Hill so how boring can you get?

Anyway, I had a great time reading all the entries and maybe, just maybe I'm not as much of a geek as many of those who posted here (phew!)....I'm not really into anything sci fi but I do like a lot of science stuff and techno gadgets. I think I'm more of a dork. I never miss an opportunity to point out the irony in a situation to my family by saying 'Ah the ironing...!' instead of 'ahhh the irony'. I say this at least twice daily.....

 

As far as for cutting the cheese...well I recently bought my younger son the cutest JoeBoxer pj's with a mouse exclaiming "who cut the cheese?" on the front of the shirt. The pants have cheese bits all over them. I tried to get him to model them so I could take a picture but obviously he isn't as big a geek as I am.
