History-Cacher
if decided to take it. IS; To honor a past President by finding or planting a Presidential themed geocache in your area. Do your research on Presidents; find a President that appeals to you, or find a President that visited your area once, or find some other attribute that warrants a Geocache on your chosen President. In return you will get some good comments in the log. You may even decide to start a Travel Bug with a Presidential theme. Best to plant it early though, as search engines feeds will be working beforehand to find that keyword "President" especially for Presidents Day. Check out my website for ideas and wording for your Presidential geocache. Leave me a comment if you decide to start a Presidential geocache as I'd like to hear about it and will give it some extra publicity. Are you implying that we not honor a current President? A current President is fine too! I have a historical perspective so that is why I said past. Plus as popular as he is I thought there might be too many and that would cut into people planting geocaches for past Presidents. So should I put you down as planting one for the current President? That's a good thing you are doing, I salute your for it. -RKO PS. This event will be called The Presidents Day Geocache Tour Quote Link to comment

Doing it to honor a group becomes an agenda. I won't be hiding one, as I'll be away from home. But MY mission is to find a cache on Sunday despite the 3' of snow where I am heading as it is one of 12 remaining days on the 366 calendar that I need to X out for that challenge. I must plan carefully for this mission. Quote Link to comment

+caccbag
Would honoring Ford violate the commercial cache rules? I like it....maybe that will be our next hide. Perhaps an empty peanut tin for Carter, or a larger one filled with stuffed fat cats for Garfield, one filled with pennies for Lincoln, or a tape case for Nixon. In SF we have Harding Park (a golf course), Polk Street, JFK Drive, among other possibilities. We have this one - but are considering archiving it as it is in a playground and we are migrating away from playground/small park hides: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=1f2fc8b9-af1d-453b-9286-89fd2025c638 (wasn't really honoring, just a play on words since the cache is in one) Quote Link to comment

+StarBrand
Rapid City South Dakota has statue's downtown of most all of our past President's - there is (used to be) a great virtual cache tour of all the statue's. Several of thewm also have physical caches on/near them. I placed a cache with a very far-away view of mount rushmore many year's ago. Most people that have been by the spot never even realize that a (tiny) view of the monument is very apparent from the spot. Maybe I will venture off that way and place another. Quote Link to comment

I'd like to see newbies try out geocaching because of this. Also I am looking for suggestions. Here are a couple. 1) Upload a picture of your favorite president into the log of chosen geocache at the website. 2) Write your favorite campaign slogan in the log. Ie: "I Like Ike" or "Stay Cool with Coolidge" The story I wrote has a link at the main page. History Caching -RKO Quote Link to comment
