+AtwellFamily Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 (edited) I know a lot of people like to see how a coin becomes such. Here are a few pictures to show that. First Drawing My comments Artwrok from Artist (one of many changes) Final Artwork from mint Coin! Hope you enjoyed the tour. The coin will go on reservations in the next few days at CacheAddict.com Edited January 30, 2009 by Atwell Family Quote
+Laval K-9 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 A lot of work but the results are great. A very beautiful and detailed coin. Nice job! Quote
+Cheesy pigs Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Oh Mike, that's gorgeous!! Yet another 'gotta have' Quote
+Crowesfeat30 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Pretty cool, Mike! I love seeing a coin go from a pencil drawing concept to metal actuality. It really lets one into the thought process. CF30 Quote
+Li-Z Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Wow!! Really nice coin, congratulations!! What does the chinese text say? Quote
+opalsns Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 BEAUTIFUL Coin, from start to finish, a true gem. You should be very proud, It's awesome Opalsns Quote
+Shadow's Friend Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing the sketches! Quote
+Jackalgirl Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Wow!! Really nice coin, congratulations!! What does the chinese text say? Howdy! The Chinese on the "trackable at" side says "Strike while the iron is hot" On the dragon side, it says "if a person has ambition, things will be accomplished". They were the two Chinese proverbs I found that I thought fit in really well with geocaching. And if you like the red-and-gold coin, boy are you going to have your socks knocked off when you see Mike's other color combinations! : ) Quote
+LadeBear68 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 (edited) I love the Chinese lanterns. When I was in Beijing, our hotel had these outside: I cannot wait to place an order for these. If the other colors are as beautiful, I may not have any money left. Edited January 30, 2009 by LadeBear68 Quote
+hollora Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Coins like this are examples of taking it to another level! Thank you Jackalgirl for the translations. Nicely done. Quote
JohnMac56 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 STOP IT!!! I can't afford any more coins! Can't you make ugly coins that I don't HAVE to have??? Sorry, I was just kidding... Mike, these are fantastic!!! I can't wait to see the other color combos that you have come up with for these coins. And I can't wait for them to go on sale either. I may have to eat peanut butter and jelly for a couple of weeks, but I WILL get some of these!!! Quote

Can't wait to see the other colors When will the photos of those come in? I love these lanterns! When I was a kid, I could never resist to touch them at the local chinese restaurants When we were travelling in China in 2007 we saw lots of 'real' chinese lanterns.. Quote

+ThePetersTrio Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I made a reservation and then got an email stating my reservation for the "Flag Series Subscription" has been received. I never ordered the flag coins. I went back in to look at my account order history and it only shows the reservation I made back in January. Very confusing. How do I know if my correct reservation was received? Quote

I'm one of the coiners who got burned by another vendor and so now I'm keeping meticulous records of my reservations and purchases. I hope you understand and don't mind... Thanks! Quote

+Jackalgirl Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I don't know if it's obvious, but it's hidden in the description on the reservations page: the black nickel/white enamel uses glow-in-the-dark enamel. How cool is that? Mike, that was an awesome idea -- and of course the lantern would glow in the dark! : ) Quote
