+Dizzley
No. Not that - I know there are a lot of twits about... I've just joined twitter.com. Here I am at http://twitter.com/dizzley. I thought it might be a good addition to my geocaching madness. I just thought I'd give it a go. Anyone want to follow me? Anyone a member already? I promise I'll TRY to be funny. +Simply Paul
To quote from their site: What is it? Twitter is a community of friends and strangers from around the world sending updates about moments in their lives. Friends near or far can use Twitter to remain somewhat close while far away. Curious people can make friends. Bloggers can use it as a mini-blogging tool. Developers can use the API to make Twitter tools of their own. Possibilities are endless! Not really my sort of thing, but I guess MyFaceBookers may enjoy it. Quote Link to comment

Edgemaster
Tried it, not updated it. I don't really like micro-blogging, sometimes too much information is a bad thing. Quote Link to comment
alistair_uk
I have started to use Twitter more recently. Originally I just set it up to play with, but when you know a few people who you are following it is a great way to get to know what they are experiencing and what people are up to. It is not uncommon for me now to star a conversation with a fact I learned through twitter. That being said many people use Twitter in differing ways. For reference my Twitter posts also change my Facebook status. Quote Link to comment
lakeuk
I use twitter alot, not done much posting myself yet but I follow a few people who post regularly including some celebs of which Stephen Fry and Robert Llewellyn (Scrapheap / Red Dwarf) generally post a few times a day on what they're currently doing - Fry seems to be a workaholic at the moment. http://twitter.com/lakeuk http://twitter.com/bobbyllew http://twitter.com/stephenfry Edited November 1, 2008 by lakeuk Quote Link to comment
andy_the_rocketeer
I signed up. Got too many random people following that account. Then worked out that it's little more than an elaborate way to validate random yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc. email addresses for spammers mailing lists. They already sign up multiple yahoo accounts. They add multiple addresses from spam list to it. Then sign up to twitter/facebook etc. Then do the "check if any of my friends from yahoo are on twitter/facebook". If it comes up positive, then your email address goes on a list that sells on the scammers black market for more money than a list of random addresses. Quote Link to comment

andy_the_rocketeer
Hadn't thought of it that way around. Anyway, gmail's spam filter is good enough Well within hours of signing up, and *before* anyone even knowing about it, I had "followers" all with IDs that wouldn't really be that of a normal user. If I look at their account, they had 1 post, registered less than 2 days earlier, and were following say 1000 people many with what could well be consecutive IDs on yahoo. That sounds too fishy for me. All twitter and facebook etc. need to do is remove the "friend finder". What normal person would be insane enough to give their login details to another party anyway???? If you read blogs, most blog owners have a twitter account and tweet about the subject of there blog... I suggest that you give it a week and use the search function to find people that interest you... +careygang
And there was thinking it was linked to Twitching Instead it's yet another way for Big Brother to keep a track on you. i wonder how many people on these sites will regret what they have posted in a few years time, when they go after a really decent job that they really wanted, and then the interviewer brings out a web page of something they'd rather forget about... It was so funny when a lady brought in to give her opinion said they sould call it tw_tters instead. (Put an A in the gap) Live on telly. Ben Shepherd quickly stated she ment to say twitter but she didn't. She really didn't. I don't normally watch GMTV but I am on holiday so daytime telly is a must. Gave me a good laugh anyway.
