Gecko206 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Is it ok to use this picture as my avatar? It was one of the rollover images on the old version of the site. Quote
WH Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I hope so, if not I'm sure I can be expecting a call from Nintendo in the very near future. Quote
+TeamAO Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I guess whoever this kid is in my avatar may have a copyright on that. Most people I would imagine get them off of Google and don't own copyrights to their avatars. Think about them as buddy icons on AIM. I have a Led Zeppelin one, I don't think their going to sue me, because it's basically advertising in their view I would think. Quote
+ADKcachers Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Actually, I own the rights to the term "Avatar." You all can expect a bill. Quote
+Jeremy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Is it ok to use this picture as my avatar? I took the photo. Go ahead. Quote
+treasure_hunter Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I dont think that I have to worry about Uncle Sam taking me to court. Quote
+Kit Fox Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Your avatar is far more appropriate than the tasteless, half nude "hottie" displayed by Team Cotati. Quote
+wimseyguy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I'm waiting for the call from A-B Brewery any day now. Or maybe even from PETA? I'm a 30 year old husband and Kit Fox-I'm a little worried about you [not that there's anything wrong with that] yes I know it's the avatar title...... Quote
+Kit Fox Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 (edited) I love the cat in the box avatar, but my favorite avatar is Team Perk's "Fluffy Kitten." Edited July 16, 2005 by Kit Fox Quote
tossedsalad Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Your avatar is far more appropriate than the tasteless, half nude "hottie" displayed by Team Cotati. I'm see I'm not the only one who thinks his avatar is "icky". Quote
+TeamAO Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I'm another one who thinks it is "icky." That avatar could show a little less skin. Quote
+bigdog999 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Could be worse, could be a half naked female avatar. Then us males would have reason to complain .... NOT!!! Nothing wrong with a little wishful thinking. Quote
+reveritt Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I guess I could get a call from Dr. Seuss, but it seems unlikely, because: My use of his Lorax character is probably covered by the doctrine of "fair use." He's dead. Hey--this gives me an idea for a forum topic over in "Off Topic." Quote
+Team Cotati Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 (edited) I never realized just how many people have never been to a swimming pool or the beach. Amazing stuff. Humorous also. Edited July 16, 2005 by Team Cotati Quote
+Harry Dolphin Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Okay, so I stole my avatar from a weather vane manufacturer's page. I like it! Quote
+Team Red Oak Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I like Team Cotati's avatar. If you could make him flex every now and again it would be even better. Half of Team Red Oak (the other half would probably not appreciate the avatar) Quote
+BillsBayou Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Bernie Wrightson and the guys at Lowrance are going to be mad when they see what I did with their copyrighted images. Ok, so it's illegal. I doubt that an avatar is going to raise any more trouble than an eyebrow. So long as we don't cast the character in a bad light, we should be okay. Oh, and don't go selling your avatar work if you're using copyrighted images. THAT would bring trouble. Quote
+BillsBayou Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I like Team Cotati's avatar. If you could make him flex every now and again it would be even better. Sorry. Couldn't get it to flex (well, I could, but I like this better). How about accentuating his more dominant feature? Quote
+deimos444 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I love the cat in the box avatar, but my favorite avatar is Team Perk's "Fluffy Kitten." My avatar wants to chase both of your avatars. Quote
CacheNCarryMA Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Your avatar is far more appropriate than the tasteless, half nude "hottie" displayed by Team Cotati. How come no one noticed that Kit Fox's avatar was completely nude! Quote
+Kit Fox Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Your avatar is far more appropriate than the tasteless, half nude "hottie" displayed by Team Cotati. How come no one noticed that Kit Fox's avatar was completely nude! The fox is actually "fur clad" unlike the nudists who are "sky clad." Quote
+tabulator32 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Please note: They did not disapprove of Cotati's avatar. They merely thought it was innapropriate for some unkown reason. I think they rather liked the image. They DID refer to it as a "hottie." Quote
+Team Perks Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Are you nuts? What the heck is inappropriate about the male torso? Although I admit that the blinking nipples are a wee bit disconcerting. Quote
+Deliveryguy428 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I think all avatars are fine unless they look like a little lost stick figure wondering if the car was marked Quote
+tabulator32 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Are you nuts? What the heck is inappropriate about the male torso? Although I admit that the blinking nipples are a wee bit disconcerting. Bear in mind...this comment came from a feline triclops. *jk* Quote
+Clan X-Man Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Are you nuts? What the heck is inappropriate about the male torso? Although I admit that the blinking nipples are a wee bit disconcerting. Uh, Can't you other guys make yours blink? Just asking, X Quote
Gecko206 Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 I'm another one who thinks it is "icky." That avatar could show a little less skin. A ripped shirt would be better. Quote
+ReyTheBear Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Your avatar is far more appropriate than the tasteless, half nude "hottie" displayed by Team Cotati. Quote
Gecko206 Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 Your avatar is far more appropriate than the tasteless, half nude "hottie" displayed by Team Cotati. There is a webpage for these kind of "broken" signs. (You'll see what I mean.) http://broken.typepad.com/ Quote
+Pablo Mac Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 I'm not a copyright infringer, but I play one online. Quote
