CW88 Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 *Edit* I noticed that when uploading my pictures, the colours get all dulled down. I changed the uploading place and it is much better. May I repost my two previous entries to show the real colours? I can't edit them anymore... Yes, It's fine to repost or fix up any earlier entries if you want. Quote
+redwingrr Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Here's my Spring Lotus version. This is shown on Matte Gold with Light Rose gem. My Photoshop ability held me back so use your imagination. I think it would be equally nice in Satin Silver. I struggled with the coloring of the metal on this version. If you've got an Avroair 2010 Aviator in Satin Silver, you can see that white works well on Satin Gold - better than it appears in my drawing. And the various levels would really add too. My attempts to show Satin Silver failed. But if you've got a Satin Silver Team Boykin kitty to look at, you know white works well on Satin Silver and is a really cool combination. Very different than other versions, I know!, but I like it, so here it is Quote

+redwingrr Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Sorry if this is a silly question but... Would it be possible to make a Satin Black Nickel finish? Quote
+acasim Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Here goes another entry. This one is the Warm Lime Mandala, in Black Nickel, with a Light Siam stone. I'm really enjoying looking at all the nice versions being posted Quote
+Where'sMyMarbles Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Great cointest! Beautiful coin! Seems to have brought out the best in all of us! LOVE everyone's color choices!! Sooo amazing!! Quote
+Mar-elendili Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) *Edit* I noticed that when uploading my pictures, the colours get all dulled down. Did you find something free that works well? No, sorry... I was using Webshots, but it seems like it eats my colors. So I re-uploaded them directly in one of my website's sub-folder. It's not like I'm missing space there! Thanks for allowing me te repost my previous entries : Lady Rose edition Jewel of the Waves edition And today's entry will be a crazy one : the Psycho Rainbow! Edited February 25, 2011 by mar-elendili Quote
+mamoreb Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 This design could probably work just as well with (shiny?) bronze as with satin gold: I loved colouring this coin, but the same colours with bronze plating will have to be my final submission. Quote
CW88 Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 One day left to enter. Lets say entries go till 19:00 (GMT/UK Time) tomorrow (26th). Lots of nice entries so far - It's going to be hard to narrow it down to just 2 . Quote
+redwingrr Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Wow, wow, wow! There's no way I could choose only 2 versions. This coin lends itself so well to different color schemes. Today the Lime Mandala and the Psycho Rainbow blew my socks off. Here's an update of my Rainbow version. Quote
CW88 Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 Wow, wow, wow! There's no way I could choose only 2 versions. This coin lends itself so well to different color schemes. I was thinking if this coin is popular enough for a remint, I'll do all new versions using some of my other favourite entries because a lot of them would look good. Quote
+redwingrr Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I was thinking if this coin is popular enough for a remint, I'll do all new versions using some of my other favourite entries because a lot of them would look good. That would be cool! Quote
+redwingrr Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 My better half preferred this green variation to the one I sent earlier, so this is his entry. BN with Turquoise gem. Quote
+Mar-elendili Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 And a li'l last one for today, because I'm so having fun with this. This is the Traditional Mehndi version, with nothing but henna colours! Thanks for allowing us to play with your design! Quote
CW88 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Cointest has now ended - lots of really good entries. I've narrowed it down to about 10 so far. Will announce winners either later tonight or tomorrow. Quote
CW88 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 It was fun seeing all the different versions everyone came up with. Will definitely like to do more cointests in future, and think I've finally picked the winners. It was hard to narrow them down from around 40 entries to just 2, so in the end I picked 4 as I couldn't narrow them down any more. So there are now 4 winning versions - and instead of 20 of each version being made there will be 15 of each. And could the winners send me a message sometime with their address. Here are the winning versions (hopefully you can see them) which I will also be posting on my Facebook page soon: 'Double Delight' by Acasim 'Peacock Splendor' by GoldBugGirl (with slight combination of both peacock versions for outer blue section) 'Psycho Rainbow' by Mar-Elendili 'Warm Lime' also by Acasim I'd also like to try the Peacock version on Black Nickel too and see how that looks: I really liked a lot of the other designs, so if this coin is popular enough and I can afford a remint, I'll do all new versions using some of my other favourite entries (and those people would get a free coin of their version). Quote
+acasim Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Wow!! I feel really honored with your choice :D And congratulations to GoldBugGirl and Mar-Elendili for their winning versions This is a wonderful design, full of details that may be colored in a million different ways, so I didn't resist in giving it a try. And I had a lot of pleasure doing that! I also enjoyed a lot looking at all the other proposals that kept flowing in the thread. So thank you for running this cointest - it was wonderful! I think that now, and every day, I'll be thinking of when we'll be able to see all these beauties made live Quote
+GoldBugGirl Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Sweet! With so many outstanding entries, I'm delighted to be chosen to share this honor with Acasim & Mar-elendili! Thank you so much, CW88, for this cointest. Your design proved to be amazingly versatile--each version shines with its own special charm. I enjoyed planning my color schemes, & got some valuable experience using Photoshop. Looking forward to holding my version of your awesome design in my hand! Quote
+redwingrr Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Congratulations to the talented winners! These are going to be really cool coins! Thanks for the great cointest. I was really hoping to win one but I enjoyed working at it and learned a little more Photoshop too. Now I hope we don't have to wait too long for the coins. Quote
+manu luq Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Congratulations to the winners, but... only 15 coins of each?, will be very difficult to get one, ... how, when, where? And yours, which are finally minted?, ...when will they be available? Quote
CW88 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Congratulations to the winners, but... only 15 coins of each?, will be very difficult to get one, ... how, when, where? And yours, which are finally minted?, ...when will they be available? Was thinking about the 15 of each not being very much, but that already makes 60 out of the 100 and I still have 3 of my own versions which quickly make up the rest of the 100. And these ones are quite expensive to get done so can only afford to get 100 right now. I'll see what the samples are like and maybe reduce the antique copper and black/white versions a bit more to allow a few more of the colourful versions. If some of the versions are popular enough I might get more made in future, along with some of the other ones from the cointest. Hopefully I can get samples in the next few weeks and if all goes well, will order the 100 after that. I'll start reservations once the samples arrive and then if there are extras I'll put them on my online store. Quote
+mamoreb Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Congratulations to all the winners and to CW88 on an excellent coin! Can't wait to see how they turn out. Quote
+Mar-elendili Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Wow, one of my entries made it to the final cut? I'm so honored! That your coin got that many different versions proves that the design is a good one, perfect to suit anyone's mood and taste. I sense a best-seller there! And congrats to Acasim and GoldBugGirl for their winning color themes as well, they're all so beautiful! Quote
+GATOULIS Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Congrats to the winners!!! Nice versions! thank you CW88 for the cointest! Quote
+BuckeyeView Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I like all of the editions! I really hope to get a chance to have the Warm Lime - Love the green! Congratulations to the winners. This is a really fun design. Quote
+luckycharmer Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 WOW beautiful colors. Sign me up for one of the 'Warm Lime" - well it can't hurt to try to get on a waiting list for one. CONGRATULATIONS to the winners. Quote
+redwingrr Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I suggest that entrants get first shot at ordering! Quote
CW88 Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Here are all the versions together that I'm going to get samples of. Sounds fair that those that entered the cointest get first chance at the coins, but will have to limit them at one version per person for now - but again will only start taking actual reservations once samples arrive so people can see what they actually look like. Quote
+acasim Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 This is a wonderful set!! I think I won't resist and will try to have it full So, thanks for taking redwingrr's suggstion I think there's a huge potential for a big demand on these coins. But let's wait for the samples to arrive, as you say. Thanks once again! Quote
+gardengorilla Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Wow! I really love the warm lime version, congrats acasim! I wish I had the technical skills to try this out:( Quote
+the4dirtydogs Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 We quietly watched all of the designs being submitted...........all we can say is WOW!!! It will be SO HARD to choose which ones to purchase when these are ready! Everyone did such a terrific job! Congrats to the winners! Quote
+EyeD10T Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 There were a lot of great entries - I loved all of them, but I think that you did a great job in selecting the final choices. I like the warm lime, but I think they are all going to look great when they are done. Nice job on the coin and congrats to all of the winning selections. Quote
+Where'sMyMarbles Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 This was such a fun cointest!! I love this coin!! It think the winning choices are amazing!! Great colors and variety!!! Now to add each one to my want list! haha Can't wait to see the developments of this coin! Thanks again CW88! Quote
+keewee Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Well done to everyone who entered, and Congratulations to the winners. There were a lot of fantastic designs! Now to try and collect them all! Quote
+southern_angel Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Nicely done on picking the winners CW88 on a great coin! I can't wait for these to come out. Congrats to all the winners for their fine art. Everyone that enter did a great job!!! Quote
CW88 Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 any news? Just working out the final colours on the blueprints (which is fairly complicated with so many colours on some of them). There may also be another version to raise money for the earthquake in New Zealand but waiting to hear back from Keewee about it. But hopefully I can sort out the artwork and pay for the samples in the next 1-2 days and then get those in a few weeks. Quote
+wenzelbub Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 When do you expect to show us pictures of sample coins? Can't wait to see all of these beautiful versions. Quote
CW88 Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) Hopefully not too long - will upload any sample pictures as soon as I can. But for now here are the 2 New Zealand versions - one based on kiwi fruit (black nickel), and the other using Christchurch colours (antique silver). Edit: Samples will still be a couple of weeks away. Edited March 25, 2011 by CW88 Quote
+acasim Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Wow!! The Kiwi is particularly beautiful. I really look forward to see all these coins being made real Quote
+Mar-elendili Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I love the kiwi version. Splendid idea! Quote
+Panther&Pine Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I'd like to put my name down for a Kiwi version (if you are that far already). and I may add another one or two after you get the rest of the versions nailed down. Quote

Not at reservation stage yet - will wait until I get samples (and as suggested earlier, the people who took part in the cointest will get first shot at them). But the 2 New Zealand versions are going to only be sold/auctioned off by Keewee, so will have to check with him on those. Quote

CW88 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Just an update for people who were following this coin. I've checked to see how the samples were going, and I should hopefully be getting them in the next couple of weeks (maybe some photos before that). Sounds like they've been quite complicated to make so have been taking longer than expected. Edited May 4, 2011 by CW88 Quote
+the4dirtydogs Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Really looking forward to seeing how they come out! Quote
CW88 Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 Heard that everything for these coins were somehow lost, so think it all has to be redone. So it will still be a while till these coins will be ready. Quote
