BCProspectors
@SpiderRider3 I don't tweet alot about Geocaching, but I do tweet about other interesting things. Quote Link to comment
Ayeaka
Celeathka I do, though my tweets are highly irregular and mostly about random things... I usually post to Twitter with my phone, so it's often just random pictures of things I found interesting. Quote Link to comment

Mr.Yuck
Nope. Not a twit. Sorry to hear that. I'm a twit. @TWUGeocaching I've followed CanadianCacher. If you want to be in the in crowd with people who tweet only (for the most part) about Geocaching, follow @Thebadcop, who follows everyone who follows him, and answer his "Geocaching Question of the Day" found at #GQotD This is a Monday-Friday thing only. It pretty much comes out like clockwork at 1:00 PM EST every weekday. Edited June 10, 2010 by TheWhiteUrkel Quote Link to comment
+journey4truth
I've been tweeting since 2007: http://twitter.com/Linc4Justice Sometimes about geocaching, but generally I try to make witty barbs or break out in singing just to keep it interesting. Does anyone use the Twitter feature on Groundspeak? I've tried it a few times but all it does it just post an alert and a link to the listing page of a geocache I found. I can't even edit it to make it more interesting. I'm wondering if cachers even care about this, but a few of my followers do like to see these updates since it gives them an idea of where I've been. Whoa! 19,000 followers? Well, you'll just have to trust me, there are tons of Geocachers on Twitter, just not too many of them here in the forums. I personally have not tried that, but have seen many people use it. I agree, you can't edit it to add anything to it. Who wants to see dozens of "found the Geocache http://coord.info/waypointname" Tweets? By the way, that's just an example, it will take you to a non-existent page on Geocaching.com. My general feeling is that many people are annoyed by this feature, if you Tweet about every single cache you've found. Edited June 11, 2010 by TheWhiteUrkel Quote Link to comment
+journey4truth
Not a big deal really, I'm pretty sure 18,900 of them are porn spammers from Indonesia. The good thing is I don't use the official app for logging my finds, instead I use GeoSphere. If I make a notable find though, I use the official app to upload my field note so it triggers the Twitter alert. Even then it's so bland that I only see it having value to my closest friends who are also avid geocachers and would have an interest in the kind of caches I find. Quote Link to comment

I actually report the spammers, and they usually get shut down the same day. Gee, maybe I should stop doing that now. Oh, I don't know about the various smartphone apps, I was just talking about the geocaching.com feature of posting field notes (which I personally would do via text message), and this doesn't care what you type in the field note, it just spits out the generic "found the geocache (hyperlink to the cache page)". I know you can tweet through the program cache stats, and he gives you a text field to write something about the cache after the canned message. Hey Riffster. You can be the coolest parent in town. Just let all the teenaged kids in the neighborhood drink at your house. Quote Link to comment

+mahini
My username here is the same as my twitter username, but, honestly, unless I actually know someone, i tend to decline, so if you add me, don't feel rejected! LOL! I use the twitter function-thingy on here... I just got a smart phone, so I haven't cached really since then... but, I send a text to log my find, which is linked to my twitter... which i (didn't mean to) link to my facebook... Since I've only got about 50 caches to my name, I'm not too irritating to my followers! (& if i am? Unfollow!) I get more responses on my facebook... usually from people saying "what does THAT mean?!" I'm new to using a "real" gps (i started out on my geomate junior)... so, i haven't figured out how to log & then sync & blah blah blah... the texting system worked well with the junior, so I haven't gotten too far beyond that little comfort bubble yet! Maybe this summer is the summer to learn! Quote Link to comment
+simpjkee
I'm pretty hip to the internet but I have yet to see any sort of point to Twitter. I have an account though. It's simpjkee. Don't expect a lot of 'action' on it though. Quote Link to comment
+sduck
A bunch of the local geocachers use twitter - it's a good way to follow where we've been, where we're going. Quite a few of us use the post-to-twitter feature from our iphones and the geocaching app. I don't really see much point to expanding my twitter user base beyond local cachers though. You're welcome to try and find me - I'm on several geocaching twitter lists, but be aware that most of my followers and followees aren't geocachers, and hence most of my posts are cryptic and worse, not to mention that I cuss a bit on twitter. Don't expect a lot of 'action' on it though. I've been using the Internet since the early 1980s, have a twitter account, as well as a few other social networking accounts. I find twitter to be the most useful of any of them. It's a extremely useful tool while at conferences. I've had an account for about a year and I think I've only posted on geocaching related message. Quote Link to comment
